I recently read a number of the negative reviews here and I totally disagree with them. I was a Surgical First Assistant at Carolina East many years along with working with 3 other Surgeons in New Bern. I know that there are many patients that will never be satisfied personally with anything in life so their opinions about Physicians/Specialist are always going to be equally negative. I'm a native from Jacksonville, NC, I've lived out of the country, in other states here in our country. There's one tragedy that still continues throughout our country and that is racism. Another very sad problem and that's jealousy of very educated and successful individuals. After reading some of these reviews, I have no doubt that most of these negative reviews absolutely involve RACISM which is hate and ignorance. My second was for my colonoscopy and they were running over an hour behind but they don't say anything to you nor apologize for the inconvenience. The only reason we knew is that we heard the receptionist speaking to someone on the phone. There's an aloofness about this business that is unwarranted. The time for waiting for a procedure is anywhere between 20 to 30 minutes. The nursing staff is very caring, and the providers take their time to answer all your questions.

Asking for public praise while neglecting patient care feels dishonest and incredibly tone-deaf. I did not want to believe the reviews, but they are absolutely true. He was in full blown crisis/psychosis and having been through those myself more than a few times in my life, I know the "emergency" of those situations. But rather than admit him and transfer him to a psychiatric hospital, they instead, just let him go 3 separate times over a 4 day period! He was seeing things, hearing things and feeling things (feeling his body was on fire) (hallucinating) and committed a crime he didn't remember doing! On top of that, we later found out that he had a knife after we took him to a hospital in Wilmington that acutally gives a damn about people when he was about to walk through a metal detector. The fact that this hospital doesn't have a metal detector is absurd! My girflfriend called to file a complaint that basically fell on deaf ears. The lady said that because her son didn't answer questions the "appropriate" way, they didn't feel it was neccessary to admit him. When you're not in your 'right state of mind", duh, you're not going to answer questions the way you're supposed to so you can get help! Word to the wise, if you happen to have a child, adult child or any other loved one in crisis, don't take them here. It's worth the extra drive to take them to New Bern or Wilmington.
