The entire operation of the Center is of the highest professionalism. From the time I entered and was registered by the receptionist, Cassidy, to the time I left everyone I interacted with was a consummate professional. The nursing care under the direction of Leigh, Shannon, April, and Brigitte was outstanding, as was the care I received in the recovery room from Thania. Dr. Naren Nallapeta, who performed the procedure, was first rate. Each of the health care professionals possessed a fine bedside manner and were highly competent. The Strand GI Endoscopy Center is a first rate organization, we are fortunate to have such a resource in our community. I had a peri anal abscess, causing me enough pain that I couldn't walk and was terrified to use the bathroom. When I saw her and told her my self diagnosis: she shrugged me off by saying " I think you spend too much time on the Internet" She told me it was probably a "skin tag" and was hell bent on scheduling me for the camera in my butt 3 weeks later. But I can't walk now, and am crying myself to sleep nightly. Well that self diagnosed abscess ruptured!!! one and a half days after seeing her!!! And the infection spread drastically. I went and saw a proctologist, and he was absolutely baffled when I told him about her neglect to pay attention to me, and her lack of understanding normal and very basic terms, when describing human anatomy. The kind male proctologist explain to me that many doctors today do not exercise patience with their patients, and that many of them really need to practice their medical practice. Real words of wisdom from someone who saved my life and butt hole. Anyway, if you just want an expensive camera up ya butt Gl associates is the place for you. If you need a real doctor and healing, go else where.

He's a very nice and friendly doctor…read more Last, year, my insurance company refused to cover a prescription for Humira, which I had been taking with minimal to no side effects for years, I asked the nurse for help. She was extremely rude and unhelpful. I was then switched to a biosimilar, and months later I experienced significant side effects. I left several messages with the nurse to have Dr. Smith call me to no avail. I then obtained insurance with a new company hoping to get back on Humira. The insurance company representative told me that my doctor needed to submit a prior authorization form. I asked the nurse to do so and to copy me, particularly since she refused to speak with the insurance representative or allow me to speak directly with the doctor. Apparently, she never submitted it. I found a new doctor, and within one week I was approved for Humira again.

On July 30, 2025, I had an endoscopy at Charleston GI. At my initial consultation, a dilation was…read morenever discussed. On the day of the procedure, dilation was suddenly added without meaningful time to consider or consent. After the procedure, I was discharged with no pain medication. Later that day, when I called in severe pain, my wife was told to drive to the office to pick up a paper prescription. It was written incorrectly and rejected at my pharmacy, leaving me in unmanaged pain and public humiliation as the pharmacist suggested I was attempting to pass a fake prescription. That evening, I called Charleston GI's after-hours service and waited over an hour for a return call. When the physician finally called, he was dismissive, laughed at my situation, and told me I could "sue" if I was unhappy. No meaningful care was provided. In the following days, I made multiple attempts to resolve the situation. I contacted the office, delivered a letter in person, and later sent certified mail and faxed notices. Despite these efforts, I remained in pain, unable to sleep, eat, or work. Even after eventually receiving a corrected prescription, the damage was already done. Patients deserve informed consent, competent prescriptions, and supportive aftercare. I did not receive that here. Based on my experience and failed attempts to resolve it directly with Charleston GI, I would not recommend this practice for yourself or your loved ones.

Finally found the cause of my daily pain by researching and diagnosing it myself. It was a simple solution that they never even thouught of. It must have cost my insurance more than the state board or the Attorney Generals office would approve of. My advise is don't try this group, and look up on yelp or web md to find someone who cares.

I had treatment 21 months ago. It took them a year to file the claim with BCBS sc then, try the blame BCBS for not paying the claim timely. Fortunately I saved my EOB. After spending close to 4 hours over a week on the phone with their office manager, Tanya Stark, I paid them $604.41. This was in July 23. It was cashed in Aug. today I received in invoice for the same amount. When trying to call the automated attendant recorded answer is, "leave name and number and someone will get back with you"!!! Unbelievable! Dr Suarez is five star but his service support is horrible. Due to this experience I have found a new doctor and will NEVER use them or recommend to anyone.
