American Dental Center

American Dental Center

There is simply no way to deny the fact that my teeth have been horrible (increasingly so)…read morethroughout my adult life. In my "younger and stupider" late teen years too many soccer and football impacts, fights and the lack of prompt dental attention left me with a living dental pathology study. Among my 2022 New Year's resolutions was to restore dental health. Dreading the cost, I secured top-line (Dental Dental premium-level) insurance and squirreled away a considerable war chest. In mid-summer I made my first visit to American Dental Center. Negatives first, as they are few and relatively insignificant. First, parking is very difficult and compounded by the fact that legal on-street parking isn't available for blocks. Next, on at least two visits wait times were 15 to 20 minutes beyond my scheduled appointment. Finally, while I almost always found the reception area to be welcoming, friendly and efficient, unwarranted brusque (never rude) behavior was encountered when they were very busy-- to be expected, I suppose. Dr. David Paltac was the main dentist for my procedures. Although often rushed, he was quite thorough and responsive to both questions and requests. Additionally, he showed himself to be caring and genuinely focused upon quality work. With due respect to Dr. Paltac, however, the "superstar" was dental surgeon Dr. Yakov Yakubov. With nitrous oxide flowing and a favorite Spotify playlist streaming, over a dozen surgical procedures was-- dare I say-- enjoyable. Everything healed quickly and without complication. Complementing the care team were several outstanding dental assistants. Each was kind enough to keep me up-to-date with the in-process procedures and provide engaging discussion during delays and waits. Always friendly and professional, they were outstanding. Ann worked with my insurance company to arrive at an agreed cost that was about 25% of what I had budgeted. If I had Ann in my corner 15 years ago I wouldn't have waited so long to have this work done. Thank you! Other than the parking, there are a few things to know about American Dental Center. First, their #1 gripe with patients appears to concern "ghosting," and they seemingly don't forget such indiscretions. Being a few minutes early for each scheduled appointment is noticed and appreciated. Next, this is a high-volume dental practice, with many professionals. The waiting areas can get very crowded by mid-afternoon. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, they are quite accommodating to working-out comfortable payment plans, but this is a "pay-as-you-go" operation. If a payment is due, bring your checkbook or credit card if you want to be seen by a dentist. While this seems reasonable, the waiting room has overheard some heated debates on the topic. Thusfar, I've been very pleased by my decision to bring my previously-miserable teeth to American Dental Center.

So I came here for my 1st dental cleaning and checkup with Dr Caglar- as per my mom's…read morerecommendation. I was looking for a dentist because my old place - I didn't trust any of the dentists ( although) I liked my hygienist. When my mom told me that he is super gentle and does his own cleanings. I decided to make an appointment. Got one within a week as a new patient. When I went- filled out my papers and in the chair in no time! I LOVED that I was given sunglasses to shield my eyes from the light! And I loved that the dentist does his own cleanings. And I like that he hums softly while he does his work. I like that he shows you your X-rays and tells you how it is and is confident. Even though this is my 1st visit- I really felt like he knows his stuff. Everyone was very nice - the dentist, the assistant and the receptionist. I was in and out in an hour. I still have other things I need to do ... but so far so good.

Writing this review brings me great joy because Dr. Patel did something for me that no other…read moredentist has ever done. He addressed my most critical concern. I have always been scared of dentists due to past experiences with ones who didn't care about my needs, which led to years of pain and discomfort. I recently had dental implants placed with minimal swelling and bruising, and just two days after the procedure, I already feel amazing! For the last four years, I have been wearing dentures, which caused me discomfort and soreness. Despite seeing a dentist regularly during that time, I received no help or adjustments to my dentures. My previous dentist told me I was beyond help. Dr. Patel, however, is an exceptional dentist. He not only restored my confidence but also gave me a new outlook on life. I no longer have to worry about my dentures falling out. I can taste my food, smile, and most importantly, laugh with friends and family. He treated me like a friend in the chair, not just another patient. My family and I will always be grateful to Dr. Patel for giving back something I've been missing for four years. Thank you, Dr. Patel!

They didn't have to do that, but they did show me that they cared. Again, the whole facility is nice and clean. And the employees are nice. I had an extremely disappointing experience with this dental office, not because of the dental…read morecare, but because of how a serious situation was handled. During my visit, my gold chain and earrings both family heirlooms were left on the counter in the exam room and 5 mins after leaving I called the office to check and they were missing. When I brought this to the attention of the office manager, I was met with complete indifference and a lack of concern. Despite respectfully asking if the cameras could be reviewed to determine what happened, no meaningful effort was made to assist or investigate. Losing irreplaceable items is upsetting enough, but the dismissive response and lack of accountability made the situation far worse. I expected professionalism, empathy, and basic customer care none of which were shown. I would strongly caution others to be mindful of their personal belongings when visiting this office.

I went in for a crown and two fillings and left with pain in all three teeth- pain that I never had prior to seeing the dentist at ISmile Dental. After going to a different dentist for a second opinion, a more skilled dentist educated me that the filling was improperly packed. The dentist at ISmile Dental can't even fill a filling- the most basic skill of all. This establishment is a dental mill filled with poorly experienced, new grads. Now I fear I'll have to get the permanent crown redone as well.. After having my filling corrected, I left my new dentist at Cedar Knolls Dental with less pain by the next day. ISmile dental told me I needed a root canal. I don't have dental insurance, so spending money- out of pocket- on poor quality/incorrectly done procedures is unfortunate. The ladies at ISmile Dental are nice enough, but niceness means nothing when you don't have the skill or experience to help your patients. Save your coins and use them at a more established practice, with more experienced clinicians.
