Upon arrival, guest have literally no idea what to do when they arrive at the restaurant. No one is there to greet anyone, we were just left to wander awkwardly around. While it says the show is 7 to 10 PM we were unable to get out of there until almost 11. This really ruined our after event plans, as we had no way to gracefully leave. The show was running late (there was a big lag between the salad and entrée with no activities or instructions on what to do during that awkward lull), and when finally it was "solved" (about 10:40pm), the performers and host positioned themselves in front of the only room exit, so they could introduce cast members. And after that-then even though it was 10:45PM, while they were still blocking the exit, they opted to single out everyone who had a birthday or anniversary, and sing happy birthday not once but twice in Long form. We really wanted to leave, and it was impossible. I've been to many murder, mystery evenings, and never been to one that there were not props involved. Usually there are evidence Props placed all around the room and included on the evidence table with diagrams, etc. So it was disappointing that no real thought went into creating "evidence". For over $650 for 6 of us (we bought cocktails at the bar), and our after plans completely ruined due to us not being able to get out until almost at 11 o'clock, I probably would have given this a two star rating but the food was very good and the actors at our table were fun to be around.

Free range seating, but every seat in the house is a good one. Chairs are comfy but they do get uncomfortable if you don't stretch during intermission (if there is one). SERVICE: Ushers are super nice. Not much to ask them but I'm sure they'll be happy to answer any questions. FOOD: No food unfortunately. OVERALL: A great stage to see wonderful theater! I would recommend parking in lot number 3 which seems to be the closest. That's in the northeastern part of UCLA, where Sunset and Hilgard meet. Once parked, when you walk out to the street (Charles E Young, I think) just turn right and walk towards the garden of sculptures. Once you see the sculpture garden, make a quick right, McGowan is on the right side of you. Parking is $8 all day. You can park for a couple hours, if that's all you need. That will set you back about $4. The parking station we paid at wasn't working for credit cards, so make sure you have cash on you, just in case. The sound inside the theatre was great. The seating was good too, not too cramped where your legs are (like some theaters). I would go back for another play.

A hidden gem. Let's jump right into this review…read more The Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles is a renowned, non-profit theater known for intimate productions of classic and contemporary plays, new works, and educational programs. Two main spaces, the 500-seat Gil Cates Theater and the smaller Audrey Skirball-Kenis Theater. My son and I attended a play - Table 17 and sat in the balcony box of the Gil Cates Theater. Box seats $139pp Pros 1. Very nice venue. An intimate space with every seat being a good seat. Great acoustics also. 2. Bathrooms are clean and grounds are well-kept. 3. Small bar area that sells food items and drink, including alcohol. 4. Patio area and seating in the lobby if you arrive early. Doors usually open 1 hour before showtime. Theater doors open 30 minutes before curtain time. Cons 1. Parking can be a challenge but not impossible. Metered street parking. Use the text to pay function because you can add additional time from your phone and receive reminders via text when your time is about to expire. There are also paid parking lots within walking distance. Prices will vary. I was impressed with Geffen Playhouse and will definitely be back. BTW - Table 17 was an amazing play - funny, thought provoking, and an attention grabber.

Great refreshment choices. Parking can be tricky, you can park in the garage next door for pay, or street parking for pay (depending on the hours of the day & day of the week), or you can park in neighborhood street parking (free) couple blocks away. The venue is close by market with food vendors or nearby restaurants and museum. Really enjoy every time I'm here seeing a play.

It's located right on Ventura Boulevard with its own parking (which is a big plus in L.A.), and the class sizes are just right--not too big, not too small. Tuesdays and Thursdays Scene Class helped me a lot more efficiently to discove my character in auditions. Plus people in the class are all auper talented working actors. What really makes it stand out is the instructors. They're working actors--people with real experience in the industry--and you feel that in every class. The approach they use? I like to call it "Stanislavski on steroids." They've developed their own method, and as someone who's trained in traditional Stanislavski, I can tell you it's faster, sharper, and incredibly efficient. If you're serious about honing your craft, give this place a shot--you won't be disappointed. Every one from the staff to the fellow class mates are so welcoming. Lastly, this school is always checking on us if we weren't booking anything for sometimes to help and guide us. Every time you will actually book something they like to share it on their special wall as well as Instagram stories. Bcz your success is their success.

Not necessarily easy to find at first but I'm glad I was aware then there were signs too. The theater is pretty small with three rows in front then sitting on both sides. Perhaps a capacity of 100? Very intimate. Not sure how the view is from the sides however. I loved the play. A series of 6 plays is around $235 which is very reasonable. I'll definitely come back! The restrooms are ancient with doors that are wayyy too small, but I guess it's common for a school? "Becky's New Car" had the best cast and everyone was a seasoned actor with a long list of previous plays and TV shows they've been in. There were parts I couldn't stop laughing, and enjoyed the play so much. I've invited 6 friends to return in July for their next one, which sounds even funnier. If my SUV could fit more people I would have asked more friends to join us. Parking was so easy, subterranean, safe and you walk right into the building from their underground garage. David the Managing Director was so personable and inviting, he seemed to know a lot of the attendees by name as regulars. I could hardly wait to see their next play, "A Jukebox for the Algonquin" and I have no doubt it too will be terrific! Great evening & a fun time.
