I started as an auditor in Marjorie's zoom class during Covid. I would read with other actors, and enjoyed it. I then decided to enroll as a regular student to receive feedback. I started to realize that doing scenes on Zoom was not enjoyable, and was looking forward to classes going back to "in person". My first scene on Zoom was from "Blue Valentine" and the actress I was suppose to do a very emotional scene with, decided to bail on me last minute in class after I had done a lot of work and preparation. It put me in a sour mood, and threw me off. Marjorie then decided to read my first scene with me (which felt odd). When I told her that I wasn't feeling it, she preceded to put me down in front of the entire class. Marjorie's classes also tend to be very "political". I read an earlier review where someone wrote that she talks about her personal life a lot (which is true). She also has very bias and negative opinions about men. If you're a young man (particularly heterosexual) and enrolling in her class, I would be very cautious. She also brings up other controversial topics in class such as race, and politics. In the fall of 2023, I decided not to judge, and give her the benefit of the doubt. I enrolled and payed a $150 deposit for her Tuesday scene study class. I ended up getting casted in a play, and rehearsals started when classes began. I emailed her asking if I could apply the deposit to the next cycle. I waited a week, and never received a response from her, or her assistant. Since she has no legal written policy on deposits, I disputed the transaction with my bank and they gave me my money back. A few days later, I received a threatening email from her "assistant" (and not her) saying she was going to take "legal action" against me over $150 dollars. Bottom line, there are many other teachers and schools in town. Take your hard earned money and give it to someone who really cares about your growth as an artist, and not an ignorant individual who has their own agenda.

A few issues: Marjorie can be very rude to her students and I've seen first hand how she will humiliate students in front of everyone. There's a way to critique someone without being insulting or humiliating or condescending. I've seen people in tears (and not for the scene btw). I personally think she tries too hard to be Stella Adler herself. Second issue - she talks too much about her personal life and I find it unprofessional. I'm all about getting to know people but there comes a point when you feel like you're just getting robbed. Third issue - this is more of a personal issue. I find it funny how she brags about being Latina and coaches people how to be "more latino" (whatever that means) but then has a pretty obvious accent when she actually speaks spanish (she's definitely not fluent). It's giving "No sabo kid". She's probably 3rd/4th generation for sure. Anyways, as much as it is helpful to give constructive criticism and be honest, that's not what she does. Or maybe it is but she's just not kind or gracious about it. Essentially, you'll just always be afraid to do your scene for her. Plenty of other better teachers out there. Hope this helps!

It took one evening in class with Max for me to instantly mourn all the money I realized I had honestly wasted studying under teachers who, at the end of the day, just spent endless hours pontificating nothing more than their love for the sound of their own voice. Teachers who, if they worked as actors at all, had maybe had one or two jobs in their entire "careers" and felt that was enough for them to call themselves teachers. She is a very DISHONEST person who included the attic area, not in a livable condition, in the square footage of the property. She is an accomplice who work with the realtors to CHEAT and LIE to buyers. OVERSTATING square footage of the property in advertisements and on MLS. When I questioned her if she included the square footage of the attic space in the square footage, she did not reply. The attic space have water heater, HVAC unit, piping, asbestos insulation and blow in cellulose. How can she include this area in the second floor square footage??? See the pictures yourself if this is a livable condition and should be count towards the property's square footage. I have contact the California department of real estate to open investigation on them all. Here are the names of the COMPASS listing agent/broker, MICHAEL DILSAVER, and COMPASS buyer agent, MYRA ASCENCIO. DO NOT WORK WITH ANY OF THEM!!!! VERY DISHONEST PEOPLE!!! DO NOT HIRE ANNA!!!! Our very last session was on-camera work and was held at Zydeco. Now, bored and seeking more experience and self-confidence, I am taking another acting class, this time all on-camera and all held at Zydeco. The studios seem to have been designed specifically for teaching acting. There are lots of seats, a great camera and screen system set up, and competent technicians to film the actors. After you finish your scenes, which are recorded, the scenes are all played back for your review on screen. The system seems to work without a hitch. I love my acting teacher (June Chandler) but I don't think she's employed by the studios (don't quote me on that). She rocks! The studios are clean and well-maintained but not gigantic. Parking is weird because the studios are in a strip mall but all the parking spots right in front of the studios have signs which forbid actors from parking there. Seems odd because the actors are paying for the classes, so why aren't they allowed to park in front? Most businesses such as dry cleaners and convenience stores will mark spots for customers only! Oh, well, anything to hone our craft.....break a leg!

So I took June Chandler's acting workshop not once, but twice here. Why twice, I thought after some…read moreyears there would be improvment, but there was none. 1st go around she had one lesson down to a script so much that she failed to notice she taught two classes with it, that is to say she taught each exactly the same. No one called her on it cause hey, we were there to learn but it came across as mentally checked-out and a waste of paid-for time. I can understand some claim to knowing 'your craft so well you could do it twice in a row' weeks apart, however (as a student) for me to learn that is what your doing intentionally how about pointing that out and not dismissing questions from us students with some diss or slight? Second, the 1st time around my male friend missed a class and asked me to record (just audio) for him cause he went to vegas to party. I got permission first and was able to. When I needed to miss a class to cover someone at work, I again asked permission and handed my recorder to male instructor who failed to record it. Why? Cause he did not know how to press record. It was anolog not a digital recorder, something he claimed he knew about prior and wanted to act ageist about cause it was "something [he] used in [his] youth". He didn't say "oh I forgot to turn it on", he just suddenly fained ignorance. Then told me "no, I could not come back next session and audit that one class". So...2nd go round years later in the final weeks when students are asked to do required headshots I was scheduled 1st to work with their cameraman/ friend who just used my headshot session to warm up instead of be ready. The result was ugly and I also personally notice those students that paid for more than one workshop at a time (aka shelled out more money) had great photos for their future submission while eveyone else ( whom only paid for one workshop) were left with ok or worse photos. Cause you know apparently you don't really want a future in the art of acting unless you already have alot of money to pay them. In the week, session preparing for final casting audition, June spent 1 min into my 1-on-1 practice time with her then left the room and never came back, wth. Finally, she insisted I use a more ethnic last name instead of my german last name cause we all know how not-racist Hollywood can be at the start of someone's journey, just ask asian-american actors circa 2017. In short, I did give them a 2nd chance and June and her male counterpart instructor are just there to draw a paycheck. Not worth it unless you want to waste your time on that cause what I learn from them can be found on Youtube. Shame.

Not being rush is a sign that potential to success because " Acting" is a craft which I consider learnable skills. You need to persuade it & you need to keep up with it in order to continue growing. Acting - It's not going to become an abundant lush fruit tree if you neglect it half way through the growth phase. Our strength lies in multiple things though, it's highlighted in doing things that enhance your abilities such as activities, resources, and researches that will enhance you in advance of the career of your choice. An effective cold reader is active listener and attentive observer. I solely learned from 1st generation teachers; Steve Wangh ( Grotowski), Wendell Beavers ( Viewpoints) and Claire Chubbuck ( Chubbuck's technique). I ain't have any doubt about how to hit any curve balls on Camera or on Stage. Regardless of how, audition and cold-reading is another game and yes, in order to get the job, you've to go through it. It's insane if you want to be in the industry. RaeAnne wholehearted teaching style as whom is completely engaged but not only overly wrapped up in her students' lives, and also understand and acknowledge their needs. You could feel hand-on learning experience in the class that rare chance to get it in any Hollywood studios. As an actor, we just need someone that confidently awkward. If so, this is the place to be in this RC Acting studio at Valley Village to lean a successful cold-reading. Remember ! ! ! RaeAnne offers so much to her students: most…read moreclasses include a business check-in; some kind of technique teaching and discussion; then either a cold read or prepared scene from the prior week; and once a month, an on-camera class with an opportunity to shoot something for our reels. I love the business check-in, where she makes sure each student is on-track with their own personal career goals, no matter what stage we're at. I find it incredibly helpful to have some kind of homework each week to keep myself on task -- these can include both scene study as well as business steps - either things she noticed about my reel or actors access profile that could be updated, or footage I need to prioritize getting, or where to look for specific types of jobs. She is 100% not a gatekeeper of information, and truly wants and helps her students succeed. She talks openly about her own experiences and what we can all learn from them. Her class also incorporates warm-up exercises: either breathing, or quick improv/movement to get us engaged with our whole bodies. Cold read classes and prepared scene work are usually done in pairs, where we get about 20 minutes to work together before performing in front of the class. On-camera scene choices are sent out a few days ahead so we can choose and prepare one fully memorized and dressed for the part. Taking RaeAnne's class has been so informative and fun, and I am so happy I found it!
