Dr. Luxenberg was very friendly, but did not go over what the treatment plan would be for my first visit with him. I thought I had about seven age spots that I would like to have removed. As soon as he came in, he started zapping and cutting. I assumed it would be under my insurance since we did not discuss the treatment. However, I got bill for $500! Some of my spots were removed, but I still have plenty of the remaining spots that did not disappear after treatment, and I have several scars after he cut at my age spots. Matt has been my Dermatologist for over 15 tears now. I was very critical about the office wait times which they have now corrected. Matt is the best! Westminster CA. I have many and large lipomas, that need removal. 5 visits so far, two weeks apart each. Great results all. Minimal waiting (I am the last patient of the day usually.) The visit is a treat, between Matt's upbeatness, humor, energy, dauntlessness, willingness to educate, and Valerie's care and cheer and conversation. The Doctor's skill and consideration is great. Tiny incision for huge lipoma, tiny facial sutures. I've had both of them wrap my compression dressings that I bring themselves. 14 large lipomas out so far! Careful, caring, quick. Relatively painless for what I'm asking him to do for me. He's done a handful of other treatments, instantly, just for asking him to look at something. Wonderful. Recommend highly. read more

Do not go to this offfice. The office staff is the rudest, most unprofessional people I have encountered. I have waited one hour and had approached the front desk but instead of apologizing they just said it's just that the doctor is running late. However, after I came in three other patients came in. All those patients were seen and called before me. When I approached them they said those patients appointments were before me. This does not make sense to me. This means that if their appointment was at 1:30 pm and they arrived at 2pm they were seen first. My appointment was at 1:45pm and I arrived at 1:40pm. I was on time. It is not fair for people that are on time are seen last because of people that are late. Nevertheless, I still waited. Then another patient came in. He didn't even sit down because he was let in right away. I then went back to the front desk asking why this is happening to me. The ladies in the front started smirking and laughing. This was by far the most degrading thing that ever happened to me. They are playing with me because they have the power to control the queue. Finally I got to see the doctor and reported this issue. No apologies whatsoever. The doctor is a good doctor however the staff is incredibly disrespectful. I felt abused and devalued after this encounter. --- So the response and it was totally inaccurate. Let me preface in saying that I think Dr. Luxenberg is a fine dermatologist. But EVERYTHING else about this place is a nightmare. My mother and I made appointments several weeks ago and showed up together. The receptionist told me that it would be about 15 minutes before we would be seen. An hour and 45 minutes later (!) we were taken back to a room and told that he was with another patient and that he had another one in front of us. WTF???? I could hear through the thin walls that he was chatting it up with his other clients next door and I was certain there was no way were going to be seen anytime soon. So we got up and walked out. This was supposed to be my first appointment with Dr. Luxenberg, it will be my LAST. My appointment was scheduled for 1, I checked in approximately 10 minutes early. I sat in the lobby for 15 minutes watching 3 people who checked in after me be shown to a room. Once I was called into a room, I waited another 55 minutes and decided I would wait no more.The level of disrespect to make a patient wait an hour is off the charts. Typically i try to shy away from leaving bad reviews, but in this case I feel like it may be helpful to others looking for a Dermo. I've seen Dr Luxenberg 3 times at the HB office over the course of 2-3 months. Each time I've waited well over an hour past my appointment time (ended up having to leave and reschedule for one instance). I understand that Dr's are in high demand, but this seems to be something that this office is known for and does not seem overly concerned with. The staff is ok but not super friendly, they seem annoyed with people constantly telling them that they have been waiting forever and asking when their turn is. Dr Luxenberg himself seems hit or miss. Seems very knowledgeable but was unable to solve my issue. He gave me 2 of his "special shots" as he called it (he was very quick to pitch this) and ended up taking a biopsy (which i never heard the results of). After all of this i still had the issue and have since switched to a different dermatologist. On top of this, I recently contacted his office to obtain a copy biopsy report (procedure was performed well over a month ago). I was told that I would have to pay an additional $30 for the report and would have to wait 1-2 weeks for the Dr to generate the report. I already paid for the biopsy, and now i have to pay for the report? At any rate, I hope this helps give some perspective to those shopping around for a Dermo. I think if you read through the previous reviews you will notice some common threads come up. read more

I've been to Dr. Luxenberg's office four times now, each time I had to wait 45 minutes to an hour to get in to see the doctor. I have better things to do than to wait for an hour after my appointed time to see the doctor. The good news, is that once you see him, he's personable. Since my time is valuable and I don't like waiting, Dr. Luxenberg will not see me for a fifth visit. If I were rating Dr. Luxenberg solely on his work, he'd get one star. The reason for the lower rating is Dr. Luxenberg missed a Basal Cell Carcinoma on my Right Nasal Bridge, which had been there for over a year and I had seen him three times during that period. My new doctor noticed the carcinoma the moment he looked me in the eyes He asked how long it's been there and I told him over a year. He said it looks like its cancerous. Sure enough the results came back this week that it was. I'm scheduled to have it surgically removed by the new doctor. Makes one wonder, if Dr. Luxenberg missed something that obvious, what else has he missed on his patients. Furthermore, the wait time for the new doctor was less than two minutes. Go elsewhere. The absolute worst experience I have had with a liar, scammer, and manipulative human that calls himself a "doctor". Luxenberg is extremely careless, unprofessional, and truly does not pay any attention to his patients. His unkempt records and lack of honesty caused one of my family members to suffer through months and months of intense pain, continuous unsuccessful treatment (because Luxenberg was too much in a rush all of the time to properly diagnose the problem), and eventually, a large, visible scar. I have heard this story time and time again since our incident, and every single time it is the same thing: Luxenberg did so and so, did not read any of his records, performed inapproriate treatment, and now I am suffering. Please, educate yourself on his records as a doctor. Do not be a victim. My family was able to resolve the medical concern at a different hospital, but even afterwards, Luxenberg still did not take any responsibility for completely mishandling the case. He has absolutely no care or concern for his patients. His only worry is regarding his money, and he will take yours without giving any true medical care in return. read more

I received a shot from this Dr. for my psoriasis and eczema routinely over 3 months. The shots that I took did not resolve my issue, and after 3 months, a nasty, big, scar had arisen from the area where I received the shot. I never felt the same again, and even though the scar appeared 10 years ago, it is still there on my body to this day. Later through another Dr. I found out that my eczema and psoriasis is related to what I eat, and the only way to really control my eczema was to control my diet and to keep my skin hydrated at all times. Dr. Luxenberg never told me this, which is why even though the shots I received would help for about two weeks after receiving the shot, my eczema & psoriasis flared up immediately after they wore off. read more

I agree with a lot of people here. Waiting times are way too long. My average waiting time for an appointment was 2hrs. I was finally able to get the first appointment of the day and I still had to wait an hour because the Dr. was late. My last appointment I walked out after an hour and a half and decided not to come back. Also every 6 month appointment there were moles cut out and sent in for analysis. After several years of sending in moles that are not coming back with bad results shouldn't it be okay to stop and take one sample every year or so? I have a feeling it was just a scam to bill my insurance. read more

Eventually little bumps started to grow under my rib cage. After several years they grew to about the size of a golf ball and were really painful if I went on a surf trip or something. I did A LOT of research on everything and anything I could do to get rid of them. Surgery was the LAST thing I wanted to do, but in the end after exhausting all my options it was clear that surgery would be the only thing to provide an effective removal of them. That took me several months to find the right doctor who could provide not only expertise in removing them but hopefully to be done with it once and for all. I found Dr. Matthew Luxenberg on yelp and also google. There are always going to be bad reviews of people but his were very small and had nothing to do with his expertise so I decided to get a consult. He seemed not only confident but down right certain that this was a simple and easy solution, which made me feel better. The surgery went great! Just local anesthesia, and horrible face I make in the video is just for theatrics. Fast-forward six months scars look great and lipomas are gone. Felt weird at first not to have them but its so much better now. You only get one chance to make a first impression.. I believe is the expression. Well, I'm not impressed and I haven't even been SEEN yet. WOW JUST WOW. I should have come to yelp first, before I wasted my time trying to even make an appointment. By the sounds of things and reading the other yelp reviews, it does seem as if they double book. That's not practical! First, they called me 3x this week alone to confirm my appointment and information, (as if it wasn't being saved in the computer the first time?) They just seem very unorganized. Then just 20 minutes ago, I pulled INTO THE PARKING LOT for my appt, and got a phone simultaneously from the office telling me he was 45 minutes behind. This doctor has multiple locations, and both my elderly mother and myself have seen this doctor at different locations. When I accompanied my mom at this office, we waited at least an HOUR AND FORTY-FIVE MINUTES to be seen. I thought that maybe it was a one-off problem, and my mom found him personable at least, so I made an appointment at his other office that's closer to my house. NOPE. He had the same extremely long wait there as well. My experience with the doctor was pretty bad as well and I suggest looking at my other review. Worst of all is his record! When I looked him up on the California Medical Board's website, I found that he's on probation for GROSS NEGLIGENCE!!! I suggest finding a different doctor. read more

I came here to see Dr. Luxenberg. I thought he had a very nice and friendly bedside manner. He took care of my reason for being there and was fast. As for the waiting, that basically happened in one of the rooms while he worked on another patient. There was a female assistant that came by to tell me that there was a patient before me. The waiting lobby is basic. You'd think they could spruce it up. The office is in a nice building but when you get to the actual Dr's office, you forget you're in this nice building. Also, you'll have to pay $3 per hour if you park on their lot where the building is and there's only one way to get out and cars line up out to pay for parking. read more

Went for a small skin outbreak below my eye. He wasn't sure but said it looked liked some kind of eczema, supplied an ointment that worked (though it returned some months later). Then asked if there was anything else he should look at. I pointed out a suspicious brown spot which he zapped; then he zapped a dozen or so other spots -each had $$$ signs associated with it. A year later, I got an odd call from his staff saying the Dr. Luxenberg was "concerned" that I had not my annual dermatology appointment. I replied that I didn't realize that I had annual dermatology appointments, but thought OK maybe I should. I made an appointment and showed up ten minutes before the appointed time. Over an hour later I gave up waiting for Dr. Luxenberg and told the staff that I too had appointments and that I had to leave to meet them -I said that I try to keep my appointments. I will find another dermatologist. read more
