My first impression was not positive; from the office location & condition of the waiting room, the parking fee, the immediate demand of my credit card for a copay, and I didn't even see Dr Yoo. A PA consulted with me, then I had to return in 2 weeks for a biopsy. I had a gut feeling that I was getting churned for repeat office visits, follow ups, and brief consults with the PA. The copay is very important to this office. I found another dermatologist and am very pleased so far. I canceled future appointments w/ this business. read more

Just got a bill that is 10 years old. Never received statements for this billing, no phone calls, nothing by email or mail. All of a sudden this office decided to send me a bill that was supposed to be billed ten years ago for a ridiculous $3.34!!! What kind of business is this. They need to hire a skilled accountant! I was able to make an urgent appointment with her but she was so busy to talk to me and I ended up with her assistant who didn't seem to have much of experience. After reading these reviews I was hesitant to schedule an appointment . However , when I called they answered the phone . I was able to schedule an appt within the month .. day of my appointment , I was scheduled at 4 , and I was in the area in the morning .. i called to see if there's anyway they can see me . And sure enough I was squeezed in .. they were more than accommodating , I saw the PA ( I can't remember the names , I'm horrible at name recalling ) .. however both the PA and the MA we're extremely nice and helpful and knowledgeable .. overall great experience .. My dermatologist retired so I was looking forward to finding someone closer to home. The office staff was not very friendly which should have been my first indication something was not right. They only cared about my insurance. Once I made an appointment they stressed to me how I needed to be prepared to pay for my copay. Once I arrived I was told that the doctor is not in and I would be seeing the physicians assistant. I received multiple texts and emails reminding me of my visit with the doctor. Not once was I told she would not be there. They also do not validate parking. Not a place I would ever return to. Very poor customer service. read more

Dr Yoo is top notch! I came as a new patient and was seen first by her PA Renee. Renee was fantastic and answered all my questions. I then meet Dr Yoo, who did a full body scan and confirmed everything Renee had said. I had a few spots that they were a little concerned about and Dr Yoo and Renee were kind enough to give me all my options as to what the best treatment should be. I decided to " Keep an eye" on two of the spots so the nurse took a few photos for reference, but one I decided to biopsy. I scheduled an appointment with the nurse in the room so that the office could check my benefits. ( an awesome thing to do since I have a high deductible!! ) I was called a few days before my appointment and told what would be pre-collected at the appointment and was also given options for financing or to store a credit card. I really like that the office took the time to check my insurance info prior to doing the biopsy so I wasn't hit with a huge bill later! The biopsy was very easy and every aspect of the procedure was explained to me prior to anything being done which put my fears at ease! One week later, Renee called me personally to give me my results and thankfully it was benign! Every person I had the pleasure of talking to in Dr Yoo's office was so kind and friendly. After reading the reviews I had major attitude upon arrival, but every person I had the pleasure of speaking to in Dr Yoo's office was kind,friendly and extremely helpful. I arrived 30mins early and had questions,(lots)on the paper work and each was answered with patience and without attitude. I appreciated that considering my age. The first appointment, paperwork and then medical stuff. Then on to see Dr. Yoo for the exam. The questions asked to confirm why I was there as a double check to understand my concerns and what I expected would take place. Happily,we were planning the same out come. Dr.Yoo checked the areas I wanted taken care of and then examined areas of her concerns. Very professional and appreciated. Second visit was the procedures. I won't say it painless, but it went very well. As an added note of my thoughts. Medicine has CHANGED since I was a kid. Medical is NOW BIG BUSINESS. I certainly can not stop the change, but Dr Yoo has not let the idea that it's a business interfere with DR Yoo's treating her patients with understanding and care, not just a number and pay day. The front office insisted on me paying for my co-pay before seeing Dr. Yoo, which was a big surprised to me. Never ever have I been made to do this before seeing the doctor and getting any treatment. When I finally saw Dr. Yoo for my hypertrophic scar, she insisted that I get a biopsy / incision to remove my scar when all I wanted was a cortisone shot. I left the office unsatisfied. read more

I called recently to schedule an appointment with Dr Yoo. I have been her patient for more than two years and always promptly paid for services in full as I do with all my bills. They stated they would need to store my credit card information on the phone, before seeing the doctor, as a guarantee of payment. I found this practice very distasteful and unprofessional. As a result, I decided not to see her. Why would I trust a doctor who does not trust me? Also, be aware, when you make an appointment to see Dr. Yoo, a physician assistant might actually treat you instead. This unannounced switch in the past was a surprise especially when the charge for the service was the same using insurance. This is not true for cosmetic procedures; there are two different price lists for cosmetic procedures not covered by insurance, one for seeing Dr. Yoo and the other for seeing the physician assistant. read more

Be prepared to pay your estimated patient share in advance, BEFORE insurance billing. Their eventual billing statement didn't list my advance payments or co-pays for office visits, because the statement only showed a mysterious NET amount of various debits and credits that weren't detailed, so it wasn't clear how my advance payments were applied, why it didn't match my insurance EOB, and why there was a remaining balance. I had to call and insist on a detailed statement showing how my advance payments and co-pays were applied. I was told to pay the mysterious remaining balance first, then they would provide a detailed statement of account activity. This seems a bit shady. I eventually realized they were milking the insurance billing by scheduling useless follow up visits, such as a 10-minute office chat with the P.A. to discuss a future appointment, which could have been done by phone! I've canceled their next "follow up" and will be going to a different doctor. read more

Let me start with the scheduling portion first.. after calling several dermatologists I was pretty discouraged early on bc everyone was booked out til mid summer or later.. so insane to me, but normal I guess. Dr. Yoo's office was the last I called simply bc I was like "let me just try one more.." and just as I needed my luck to come through it did! They were able to get me 2 days after I called! As you can imagine I was SUPER happy about that... After reading the reviews I was a bit nervous about how it was going to go but I don't like to go off of other peoples opinions... everyone has a different experience. Also you're coming to see a DERMATOLOGIST not a nutritionist. & I would expect people with skin issues to automatically do their own research anyway to be aware of what their ingesting lol.. duh? Anyway. I was lucky enough to see Dr. Yoo and spend an appropriate amount of time with her. I also got an entire body evaluation and every mole checked out which I didn't expect from my first visit! :) so I was very happy about that as well. I had a basal cell carcinoma on my ankle surgically removed, and stitches to close the wound by Dr. Yoo. Two weeks later, I returned to have the stitches removed. That day's medical assistant (they apparently cycle them in and out a lot) had trouble removing them all, so she called for help from the Nurse Practitioner (or perhaps she is a P-A,) The medical assistant-of-the-day said I didn't need a follow-up appointment. Three weeks go by, then four, and I observe the wound isn't healing. I'm thinking I see about 1/4 inch of stitching protruding, the wound isn't completely closed, my ankle is swelling, and there is a large circle of red, inflamed skin the size of a silver dollar. The office will not let me come in without going through the process of getting yet another referral, so I went to urgent care. Two hours wait, but sure enough the doctor pulled out one and a half inches of thread. The skin is irritated now by constant application of antibiotic ointment, so he gives me a new antibiotic Rx and a cream. Over all, I have found the staff of this practice to be more concerned about insurance or self-pay than about genuine patient concern. read more

It's only time: How many of us don't enjoy driving an hour through stop and go traffic, finding parking and filling out a ream of forms only to find out after you've gone through that that the doctor won't be in the office for a week? It's only money: Yes, I love spending money on gas, don't you? I also love paying for parking and paying a $30 copay for a useless appointment. That rocks! First impressions are usually the most important characteristics people naturally form when researching something new be it person, place or thing. I got a face-full facade right here. I booked this doctor using ZocDoc.com and wouldn't be able to see her for a few weeks. I could live with that and received almost daily reminders from ZocDoc of my coming appointment, even on the day of the appointment. Two calls from the office for my insurance number never revealed anything about the doc not being available. Arriving a half hour early (as usual), I handed my insurance & CDL cards for duplication and was handed the obligatory ream of paperwork to fill out. I was called in and set in a room to wait for the doc when a bubbly, cheery PA comes and introduces herself. I asked where the doc was. "Oh, the doctor won't be in the office for a week. I can reschedule, if you like." Grrrrrrr. Of course my question of why no one thought to tell me the doc wouldn't be in was met with shrugs and finger-pointing. I demanded a return of my co-pay and, at first, they refused my parking fee but I was too "Grrrr" for them and they relented. At least they got that right. There's plenty enough violence in the news already. Fool me once, shame on Yoo. P.S., Every chair in the waiting room looked like someone had gotten sick on them. I never actually saw Dr. Yoo, let me preface this review by saying that FIRST. That was actually the problem. My husband made this appointment for me, requesting that I see the doctor, not the physician's assistant (PA). He was assured that the appointment he was making me for me at that point was going to see the doctor, not the PA. So imagine my surprise when I went to the doctor's office that day after work, to be informed that I will be seeing Renee the PA, not Dr. Yoo. To make matters worse, they were going to charge me $185 before even seeing me because I haven't met my deductible for my insurance. I have never been to any doctor who insisted on charging me anything until they actually SAW me, let alone charge me for that high of an amount because my deductible hasn't been made. $47 tops, not $185. I insisted that I can reschedule so I can see the doctor, and then canceled the appointment later. I went with my gut. Any doctor who would use these kinds of tactics is not someone I could trust. I know there are a lot of people who like Dr. Yoo and she sounds like she has excellent bedside manners; but I didn't think it was ok for her people to mix our appointment like that, and then to want to charge that much for one visit BEFORE she even saw me (excuse me, before her PA could see me). read more

Dr. Elisa Yoo is nice and knowledgeable but her office staff is under qualified and disorganized. They are also pests about paying right up front. They filed my insurance wrong, did not apply my payments to my deductible then sent me to collections for a $150 dollar bill I already made a payment on. Ridiculous since I had already paid them almost 300 dollars out of pocket. They also refused to resubmit my claim and pestered me with annoying phone calls. I have been going to Dr. Yoo for over five years now and trust her implicitly with her skills and recommendations. She is especially expert at surgery. I was referred by my general practitioner because I had some skin cancer from over exposure to sun (I'm a surfer). She removed that cleanly and suggested I return for biyearly checkups. There have been several more skin issues that have arisen and just recently another removal and biopsy was needed. Dr. Yoo and her team were very pleasant, efficient, and professional. I really appreciated that she was very transparent with what she was doing throughout the process (it helped alleviate any anxiety I had). She also has a good sense of humor and a positive attitude on everything which lends itself to a good atmosphere. She recently enlarged and remodeled her office and increased her staff. I've been very impressed with the modernity and efficiency that came with it. The office was good when I first started visiting her, but now it has become top notch! I strongly recommend making Dr. Yoo your dermatologist. read more

I've been going here for a while now. Cypress really only has a couple of different dermatologists (most of which get excited to zap you when they see a mole.) Elisa Yoo is one of them that's actually great and does not zap in the first 5 seconds. Her wait times can be busy since she's highly referred out to in the area. There's some stuff you should know though: 1) Get the first time, then show up at least 15 minutes early. Preferably, try to get in on a day that isn't packed. She doesn't work every day, so make sure you ask the scheduler how busy the day is. Try not going in the afternoon. 2) Understand that you can't schedule in-office surgery without an appointment first. You'll have to eat the specialist co-pay to get your insurance involved - there's really no way around this at any specialist office in America. 3) Parking is $3 and people who complain about this are hilarious. 4) You need to call the office to get an appointment. Stop being afraid of the phone. You will get texted with an office reminder, along with a call. 5) She doesn't work every day of the week, so appointments do get rescheduled sometimes. 6) Dr. Yoo has lots of energy and its nice to see somebody actually care! A bit surprised about the reviews here, most people don't understand they are seeing a specialist, not a primary care doctor. I've had three procedures with her. Make sure your insurance is accepted, otherwise prices can be expensive. read more

I called to schedule an initial appointment for my mom...the staff (Angelina and I believe a Lisa) were very unprofessional and condescending! They expect anyone to have knowledge of what an IPA stands for even though that information was provided to them (Healthcare Group) in which you are a patient...and states they do not have access to look up a referral number that was provided from the Healthcare Group to see this Dr. Very very condescending and not apologetic for anything! This doctor needs to take a very long look at her staff and decide if she has the right people running her front desk or not as my experience with these guys would make a patient run the opposite way for their care! read more

Front office is who patients deal with most of the time and by that - I WOULD SAY DONT EVER COME HERE! The worse front office ever. The office staff is terrible. I've never ever encountered the most unfriendly, rude, and inexperienced workers in my life. I really feel bad for the Doctors if they have those employees in the front office. The office staff has no tact or customer service skills. They claimed that they called me to get benefit information which was incorrect. I didn't have any missed calls from the office and rudely spoke back to me in the office and denied to see the patient. We took time off work, practice, but they didn't care at all and denied us care. They didn't have the smarts to think outside of the box and maybe even call the referring physician's office to obtain our benefit information. DO NOT GO!!!! I went to see her for my first check up! She gave me a cursory glance over my body and didn't see anything. All she did was offer superficial treatments ie brown spot removal etc. My insurance changed the following month and I had to see another dermatologist. I HAD MALIGNANT SKIN CANCER!!!! I had to have surgery to remove the cancer including a lymph node under my arm! Who knows what would have happened to me if my insurance changed. Scares the heck out of me! read more

Decided to look up my Derm doctor on yelp while I'm waiting to be seen. I'm really surprised to see such negative reviews. My daughter has seen her twice and now it's my turn. All visits have been 5 stars. Dr Elisa Yoo is excellent. She has great bedside manners and has helped my daughter. Alway a smile on Dr Yoo's face. After my first first appointment with her, I hope she can help me too. The reception area was full, but I was seen in a timely manner. Anything less than an hour is timely. Medical assistants are pretty good. Physician's assistant was good too. Giving the doctor one star (another yelper) because Dr Yoo didn't spend more than 10 minutes is short sighted. Who cares how long she spends with you. I care about results, not about how long I spend with a doctor. In my experience, the doctors who spend a long time with you don't know what they're doing and often get it wrong. When you are a good doctor, you know what to do and you just get it done. If you want to talk about your problems and your life, go to a shrink. Yes, I would recommend Dr Yoo. No, I do not know her outside of clinical care. Too often Yelpers feel the need to bash someone without much thought to their reputation. It's another form of cyber bullying. So I want to say, "keep up the good work Dr Yoo!" read more

I'm a skincare girl. My skin is very important to me. I was referred here by my primary doctor. I have to say that I was comfortable with the covid precautions in place. I did have to fill out alot of what I considered to be unnecessary questions in the initial paperwork. First thing I was bothered by was that in the lobby I could hear the entire conversation of the patient before me that was already in a waiting room. A big privacy violation. Also, the co-pay was ridiculous. I paid $96. Mind you, I have a pricy PPO. Apparently, you can't qualify for deductibles until 3 visit. That's 300 dollars, no thank you. I'm all for supporting the hard work of doctors, but this doctors accomplishments are posted all over the walls, tbh kinda a turn off. When I went into the office they made me take a picture for patient verification, which I guess is ok. The office appeared to be clean, once again I'll give them that. There were two student assistants that were helping. I wasn't notifed of this. I saw the students and a NP before the doctors. I kept having to repeat my concerns. I was prescribed 2 medications, both very expensive even with my insurance. This doctors must be an affiliate with a pharmacy because I was told if I went to a pharmacy im Rancho, I could get the pharmacy jalf the price. Seemed very shady, but it was far too inconvenient for me to even give it a shot. Long story short, the care I got could have been googled for 90 bucks less. She didn't seem familiar of dealing with skin of color. I am currently looking for a new dermatologist. I would not refer anyone to her. read more

If I could rate negative stars for my experience with Dr. Yoo, I would. I live in South Orange county and I traveled a good 45 minutes to Dr. Yoo's office to get treated for a reoccurring rash that I had been having for a few weeks. I waited an HOUR AND A HALF to be seen by Dr. Yoo, even though I had an appt. Dr. Yoo and her assistant/nurse spent a maximum of 10 minutes with me. Not only was Dr. Yoo very short and rude with me, she did not care to listen to anything I had to say. She didn't even bother to look at me when she talked to me. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. She asked what my allergies were and I told her sulfa based drugs. She began to prescribe me a SULFUR ointment and I had to correct her immediately. She also prescribed me keflex antibiotic that my pharmacy only had the generic version of, and they needed Dr. Yoo's approval to give me the generic. I contacted Dr. Yoo's office 4 business days in a row (to get approval for generic). They continuously reassured me they would contact my pharmacy right when I hung up the phone. Dr. Yoo, and her staff, neglected to complete a simple phone call to my pharmacy for two weeks. Yep, didn't get my antibiotic for two weeks! Dr. Yoo also had done a biopsy/culture of my rash and told me she would contact me within 5 business days with the results-never heard from her. I called two weeks later to get my results-they said there is no record of me having a biopsy/culture done. On top of that, I paid a $35 co-pay, and for what? ABSOLUTE WORST DOCTOR I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DR. YOO TO ANYONE. read more

My appointments with this office were the worst I have ever experienced. The PA was so rude. The office is filthy as even the walls have foot prints. I was told I need surgery to remove my skin cancer and have 10 spots on my face frozen off. This office is shady and the PA is the rudest Dr. I have ever met. Appointment was easy to make and I didn't have to wait long in the waiting room. Staff and physician assistant were nice but didn't quite care for this doctor. I saw her twice for few different things. The last time I saw her was because I had a small rash under my eye that my primary care doctor had trouble diagnosing and it didn't go away after the month she told me to wait. I decided to see Dr. Yoo to get a diagnosis and treatment since the rash seemed to be getting larger and more red. I saw her physician assistant first who was very nice and spent time looking at the rash and told me she wasn't sure what it was. The physician assistant left and moments later I could hear her talking about me to the doctor outside the door. The doctor came in and seemed rushed and somewhat impatient. She also seemed annoyed at her assistant, maybe that's her personality though, I'm not sure. The doctor told her assistant "I can take it from here" then proceeded to ask me if I had been rubbing my eye and told me it looked like I had an allergy. I told the doctor the rash had been there for two months so at this point it seemed unlikely to me that it was an allergic reaction. She seemed pretty disinterested in what I had to say though. She then told her medical assistant to give me prescriptions for Claritin and a steroid cream. I already take Zyrtec everyday which I had already told her staff but I doubt she bothered to review my medications. I did fill the steroid cream however which made the condition much worse over the next two weeks. After all of that I went to a different dermatologist who diagnosed me correctly with perioral dermatitis. I was given a topical and oral antibiotic and made the rash disappear within two weeks. In my opinion a dermatologist should be able to diagnose dermatitis and should be a little more hesitant before prescribing a steroid for someone's face. read more

I had a great experience seeing Dr. Yoo and her entire staff was professional. I agree with all of the positive comments made about her and it was one reason I choose her. Her Physician assistant is excellent also and the person who checks for insurance is really on top of her job. They pre qualified me and then let me how much my minor procedure would cost because I have not yet my deductible. Due to this I will wait until January but I will definitely return to her as I have had such a excellent experience so far which also included a very reasonable wait time. Yes you do have to pay to park but I feel it is well worth it for quality medical care. read more

I visited this place for itching on a birth mark due to dryness (as per my primary care physician.) First an assistant came in to interview me. Probably to make sure that I am safe and had no contagious decease. Then another person (probably a nurse) continued the interview asking more questions for detailed understanding of the decease. The doctor wasn't busy for sure because I could see her waiting outside in the hallway asking the interviewer about the symptoms and risk level. Then the doctor walked in. I could tell that the doctor already knew about all symptoms. She then prescribed a cream and went away. I felt weird. The funny part was that the prescription was not any different from that given by the primary care physician. I could be wrong too. The doctor might be OK but she was training her assistants to take care of patients on their own. I didn't go back there for a follow up. read more

All her and her staff know how to do is collect co-pays (before you even have your foot in the front door--okay I'm exaggering) and prolong treatment of your problem(s) without ever actually fixing anything.
