Mattel - Ben excited to see Buzz! - Toy Stores Near Me - El Segundo, California

I will never shop retail again! My son LOVES HotWheels and we have been buying his sets for full retail price. The stores always carry the same sets and the merchandise are never rotated . Toys r' us has a big selection but they are the most expensive place to buy toys. I stopped by last Wednesday and picked up a HotWheels set for $13.49. The original price was $44.99. I also picked up three baby toys and a classic cars HotWheels that I might even like for myself. I usually like designer baby toys from Vulli or Skip Hop but the price of the baby toys were cute and cheap enough to be worthwhile. My whole total was around $25. I came back the next day to try to get another of the $13.49 HotWheels set but they were sold out. I stopped by the clearance tent first and picked up a Matchbox fire house set for $8.49 that retails for $19.99. My son has the Matchbox service station that we paid $19.99 for. They are part of a city collection that can attach together. I also picked up a smaller HotWheels set for $6.49. This set retails for $19.99. I spent a total of $15 at the tent. The tent items are final sales and up to 75 percent off. They had tons of dolls: Monster High, Polly Pockets and Barbies which I loved. My mom once bought me a African American Barbie because it was cheaper :o At the store, I got the triple tracks HotWheel set, the Matchbox city Police Station, a Disney Baby Toy and a Fisher Price book and car. My total was $85 with everything at 50 percent off. They have so many other toys from Disney, Angry Birds, DC Marvel, Dora, Thomas the Train, and baby jumpers, high chairs, mobiles, and crib toys from Fisher Price. There are a lot of toys that couldn't sell or didn't sell well but if you know what you are looking for this place is perfect. I will definitely come here again for more toys or gifts :p read more

Arrived at 6am to get in line for the Black Friday Sale which was advertised to be open FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY. First 50 get 50% off. I have been told that the store isn't opening!! Only a tent with over priced crap that they can't get rid of. Not the advertised sale at all! RIDICULOUS! How do you advertise a store opening for a major holiday sale and not open??? I am going to call corporate. This is false advertisement. I want my 50% off that I got up early and showed up for. This Yelp is only the beginning. read more

Mattel - Says Sunday, right? - Toy Stores Near Me - El Segundo, California

I went to have lunch with a friend of mine that works at Mattel's corporate HQ. While waiting for her, I was able to visit their Mattel store which is on the first floor of the HQ. When one thinks of a corporate HQ, you'd think that their HQ store would be their prized jewel. I've been able to visit Nike's HQ in Oregon, REI's HQ in Seattle, Cox Cable and UPS in Atlanta. All those places were fantastic places to visit. Worthy of their brands. Unfortunately, the Mattel HQ store felt like a ghetto Walmart. So ghetto that it makes your ghetto Walmart feel upscale. The merchandise is lacking in terms of selection and quality. The products seem to be the items that were returned by other retailers because a lot of the packaging had damaged. I'm not an expert in toy pricing, but it felt like the price of the products were higher than what you could get at Walmart. read more

They are very formal with their store opening hours and do not update the information online to know when they are open or not.

After hearing about this place, i decided to stop in this past weekend. In my mind, I kind of imagined it to be a giant factory store with amazing deals, but in reality I was a bit disappointed. The place is pretty small. Maybe a couple thousand square feet under the Mattel corporate building in an El Segundo business park. Like a small toy store but with none of the charm and only Mattel brands. What's worse is there are hardly any deals - with a price scanner on the iPhone, I was able to quickly find out Amazon had many, if not all the toys and goods, for the same or less! selection was disappointing too, and what stuff there was on clearance was old or just garbage. If you sign up for their newsletter you can get an additional 10% off and if you shop there on a Tuesday there is an additional 25% off. I'm still not sure its worth it. read more

Great WWE figures!! Would love to see more in the future!!

Ive been here a couple times, to get gifts. This location is a lot smaller than the one in City of Industry. Parking is really tight here. Prices aren't much cheaper unless there's a coupon or you know someone that works for Mattel (they get 50% off). If you are in the SGV area you're better off goin to the City of Industry one. You re not gonna find the latest and greatest toys. I have a niece and nephew that loves "Little People" toys so it works out just fine. read more

Not from the area but decided to visit the store to shop for a gift for my son. LOVE it ! Their selection is amazing and anyone is bound to find something no matter the age range. My son loves hot wheels & dinosaurs and this place didn't not disappoint as he did not leave empty handed ! Will definitely come back. read more

i wouldn't recommend anything this toy company has to offer. the materials are a bad choice and the people running it are not good to do business with. read more

I stayed at the hotel that is across the parking lot to Mattel. I was so excited to go check out the store when I had some time. Finally I got lucky and was able to squeeze it in at the end of the day. Was hoping for cool different toys or good deals on regular toys. And was disappointed to that neither was present. There was a selection but it wasn't as vast as I was hoping for the employee store to have. And with the power of the internet in our hands I was able to compare pricing to the Mattel store. And pricing was about the same or possibly slightly more or less for places I checked. So unless you get there and are lucky enough to find something good in the sale bin or if there is a good sale going on I don't think you'll be saving to much money here. read more

GREAT variety of toys & awesome prices! They have this Nabi Kareoke speaker box that is AWESOME! ended up buying 5 for friends and family as gifts :) read more

This store is awesome! They have all the latest Mattel brands and even good sales! Definitely check it out if your near the area! My kids love it there! Lol who wouldn't!? Haha read more

This is a toy shop you can come for exclusive toys you might be looking for and they are always have a sale that you might find some cool things you or your child might like or for a loved one. I highly recommend stopping by on your way to check it out and see what they have, I know some people might say otherwise but hey, it's up to you to make your choice and see what things they might have for the day! read more

If you come to El Segundo CA you have to visit the only Mattel Toy Store around! Ask for Ada (not sure if I have the spelling correct) but she loves her job which means Mattel must be doing something right with their employees (good treatment goes along way) she can tell you so much about the items and if your a collector then you must come see this store! read more

This place is pretty awesome, if you're patient you can get major discounts, some up to about 70% off. Best time is Oct-Nov, right before black Friday. Customer service is great, very friendly, highly recommended. read more

***This toy store featuring only Mattel products is open to the public; it seems like a good spot if you are a fan of Mattel products, but I was expecting a much bigger selection*** I did not know this place existed. This toy store (primarily featuring Barbie, Hot Wheels, Matchbox, and Fisher Price) is open to the public and offers reasonable prices (they also seem to offer discounts to employees of many nearby businesses). The selection was good (and probably better than what you would find at most toy stores), but both the store and selection were not as good as I was expecting. Service was pleasant. Mattel Toy Store is located in an office complex, but parking is free. There are spaces (just right of the entrance) dedicated for Mattel Toy Store customers. read more

With the demise of Toys R Us and KB Toys, toy stores are becoming a rarity. So it turns out Mattel has a toy store at their El Segundo headquarters. Unfortunately it's pretty small and the selection is not what I would have expected from Mattel. I would have thought they'd stock just about every toy they sell. Oh well, Amazon here I come, again. read more

Mattel store and the entire staff are superb. They went out of their way to offer all discounts and their expertise in Mattel products. Mary, Elena, Ana and entire staff are top notch. Mattel products were available and in great condition. They have the rare exclusives which most stores don't have. I will continue to make the trip out here to not only buy the Mattel products but also for the lovely staff. Thank you! read more

Gifts For Other Peoples Kids. Discounted 1st quality Mattel toys so you look like a hero while spending closer to zero. They even have a "bump and scratch" area where some toys' packaging has been crushed but the toy is fine. The selection is limited but they do have current and popular items. They had characters from the movie Cars, and Batman, Dora the Explorer, and characters from the Barbie line (in several race/gender/action attire.) Really, Barbies for $8? Yes, they're here! You can also ask for coupons at the register, on your way in, to take advantage of extra discounts and dollars off. They had an additional $5 off of a regular priced item on the day I visited. They also have a huge tent around the corner (walking distance but bring a coat if it's a cold day) but it's only around this time of year. From baby gifts to grade schoolages, this place has never disappointed me for that generic or emergency gift. read more

Nice store, helpful employees, good prices most of the times. They have a tent sale twice a year with really discounted prices for a regular customer and if lucky a couple of deeply discounted items for re-sale (even deeper discount). read more

The sales area is about the size of a two bedroom apartment. During the month, they have days with specials & days of specials if you work for a local business (on their list). Anyway, I got a new monster doll that my daughter wanted for less than the price at Amazon, since they were having a 30% off sale that day. I'll be back. read more

This review is for their annual tent sale. They have a HUGE tent set up behind their building and literally have pallets of newest toys for sale at a significantly discounted prices. I can tell you that I purchased over a dozen high quality toys which retails for over $15-$20 each all for about $85 dollars. This is the way to go when you have a huge shopping list for all the kids in your family! read more

30% all year round for residents of El Segundo! My 19 month old son had a field day going to this store today. There's currently a 35% off store wide sale until the 17th Dec and 50% off from the 18th. What a great store to have in my local neighbourhood :) read more

Great Discounts! A little far. Too bad they closed all other locations throughout southern California.

if your looking for awesome deals, do not go here. I used to shop at Mattel in Pomona and San Bernadino they had good deals and the stores where well stocked. The only one left in California is in El Segundo and you might get better deals at Walmart or Target. I was not able to use my points or coupon because I shopped at the tent. read more

We drove here from the Inland Empire the weekend before Christmas and it did not disappoint. We found many items for our boys (4.5 and 1 years old) that they will enjoy. Sad that all of the other locations have closed, it was so easy going to the Chino location, but it was surprisingly not a bad drive - hardly any traffic. We bought Thomas & Friends and minis, hot wheels, toy story 4, fisher price linkimals, and more. read more

This place is clean and packed with toys. Sometimes they are the very toys you can find on the shelves of Target and other times they are the toys you find on the shelves of the KMart clearance section. The prices are actually comparable to Target so I most definitely would NOT shop this outlet unless you manage to score a 50% off coupon or know an employee. I shop here because I get an additional discount which makes the items incredibly cheap and worth the trip it takes me to get there. read more

Made my first visit here today. First let me say the employees are all so very nice and eager to help. That was so refreshing these days. The first thing I saw upon entering was a display of Lil Gleemerz. This is apparently the hot ticket item. Think Fingerlings on steroids. I put a couple in my cart. By the time I got back to the front of the store, most were gone! (Btw, there are many quantity limitations). Anyway, in terms of selection, I would say it's hit or miss. I think it would be best to go in with no expectations. With that in mind, we hit up the Hot Wheel section. As far as Hot Wheels go they have many many collector lines. I managed to pick up a Minecraft Hot Wheel set! I also found a Rebound Raceway in the 50% off wall (more on that later ;)~ Monster High was also on our list. I was looking for the High School set. The Monster High section is rather scarce. I did pick up a couple-few hard to find dolls. Barbie. Many, many Barbies. Lol. They have the high end designer Barbies. Serious $$ Barbies. That brings me to the back wall. Green tags 50% off marked price. I found most of my purchases here. Ever After Tall dolls, Monster High dolls, above mentioned Hot Wheels. And more. The key to this store is to be open minded and look for the sale signs. Most are $5, $10. Finally, they have punch cards worth $10 and an email incentive. I will return to this store. As often as I can afford! read more

Love this place! You'll find toys with great prices. Winter wonderland tent is the best for Christmas shopping. I highly recommend for everyone to shop here. You also get rewarded at the regular store read more

Check the website for sale dates and coupons. The best deals are in the clearance section. The City of Industry location is much larger and seems to have more sale items. Residents of El Segundo receive an additional discount. This location is not usually open on Saturdays and Sundays but check their calendar for special saturday sales and holiday hours. Some items are discounted but most aren't and are the same price as Target and Toys R Us. The name says it all "Mattel Toy Store" not Mattel factory outlet. Positives: discount coupons, sales Negatives: small location, small selection, employee attitudes read more

The staff are very friendly and engaging. The store is clean and well-organized. Selection is hit or miss, with a lot of older merchandise (4-5 years old) which I would have expected to be marked down further than it was. My main complaint was with the line management at opening. Apparently there are regulars who come every day (or close to it), arrive 2 hours before the store opens, leave some personal item (a bag, a chair, a skateboard, etc) and then leave until the store is about to open. This behavior is accepted by the staff and the other regulars. I waited at my place in line for 45 minutes, then in the 5 minutes before the store opened I went from being 3rd in line to being 20th in line. Also, they limit quantities on certain items, so - for example - a person could buy 3 action figures from the He-Man line, but only if they were 3 different characters. I'm not sure how this rule gets applied to Barbie/Hot Wheels, etc. The bargains weren't worth the frustration. read more

Two amazing young ladies made my nephews experience extraordinary yesterday! Amazing hidden location. 10/10 would recommend

This is my go to store when shopping for a kids or baby's gift. Their clearance section is really a great value. They have a big tent they put out around thanksgiving that's also really good. Sometimes they have really good sales too. Specially around holidays. I'm still a little iffy about the way they remodeled but I guess I have to get used to it. I think it was better the way it was before. Not crazy about the staff but they're not rude either. read more
