Seriously so good!! I stopped by Matt Robb's last summer while visiting UTK and have been thinking about it again as friends are announcing their commitment to the university. While looking up the best places to try, this place really stood out. It is a small place - not much seating indoors but at least in the summer there are some tables right outside. Matt's service is great - fast and kind. Not to mention his food (biscuits) being so crazy good!! Anything he makes it going to be delicious, just be sure to get to the storefront early enough (right around opening or a few minutes early) so you can get your pick of biscuit type and such. THE BEST BISCUIT I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! It was crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The fixin's were made to order and oh so fresh. Seriously so good. You can tell how much care and love go into each order as they are all handmade by Matt himself as he truly is a one man show. He is genuinely having a blast while making and serving his guests. It's a great atmosphere. With that being said, be prepared to wait, for a long time. We got there about 10 minutes before opening and were about 30th in line. We didn't get our food until an hour later. Just as long of a line when we were done eating as there was when it opened. We were not expecting to wait that long and almost left, but everyone in line said that it is well worth the wait, so we stayed. I'm very glad we did. We went on a Saturday morning in the summer so we took turns checking out the farmers market just a few blocks away to help pass time. Great move there! I have been wanting to visit this place for quite awhile now, and I actually did try one other time and he was all sold out! So I thought that I would come earlier this time...welllllllll.....They open at 9am and we arrived at 9:45.....he was already sold out of his regular biscuits and the blueberry ones. He only had a few of the garlic cheddar left!!!! So, we tried the garlic cheddar with egg and cheese and my husband had a cup of coffee. BEST BISCUIT IN KNOXVILLE!!!!!! My husband said that his coffee was very good also! We definitely are going to come back! Matt is so warm, friendly, laid back and yes - fun! I ask him if I could take his picture for my review and he said sure - then he insisted that we take a selfie together and not smile!!! So much personality along with his incredible baking talents! He visits with everyone and is full of real good ole Southern charm. The place is very small inside and Matt is a one man show. But he is so efficient that he doesn't really need anyone else. Heard good things about this place from a colleague. So decided to check it out. Sadly, although I arrived within an hour of opening, he had already sold out of the blueberry biscuit. So I opted for the regular biscuit. Overall, the biscuit wasn't impressive. It was small and not flaky. Not up to par with others I've had. My wife and I walked in and were greeted by Matt himself, super friendly as he is a one man act making and operating the place by himself. By the time we got there they were sold out of all meats, but he had 3 blueberry biscuits left, so of course we tried them. We had them with an egg and some cheese. This morning I grabbed a biscuit sandwich with cheese, egg, and bacon -- and wow, it did not disappoint! The biscuit was soft and flaky on the inside with just the right amount of crunch on the outside. The bacon had a perfect crisp, exactly how it should be and everything came together beautifully in each bite. It's pretty obvious everything is made fresh daily. The spot itself is a bit tucked away down an alley, so it can be a little tricky to find at first, but trust me -- it's absolutely worth the search. The owner was super friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick and efficient. 4th time's a charm. Every other attempt, the famous Matt Robb has been sold out when I've stopped by. The big question...worth the hype? Yep! Around 9:30, it was packed inside and out. You must realize that Matt is literally a one-man show. He is taking orders whilst frying bacon and whipping up coffee creations. He does it masterfully and with grace and humor. If people are impatient, it doesn't show and the food will keep them coming back. He posts his daily menu and specials on IG and on a board in the shop. Today, it was a blueberry biscuit with bacon, egg, and cheddar. My friend tried this and a drip coffee. I opted for a garlic cheese biscuit with bacon, egg, and cheddar and a cold brew. Two options for cold brew-Nancy's (with oat milk and sweet cream) or Matt's that uses a simple syrup. I opted for Nancy's and that shtuff was smoooooth and fabulous! Can we focus for a min on these fluffy, crumbly biscuits from heaven?! By far the best biscuits I've eaten (I.e. devoured with gusto) since moving to the South. The garlic added a slight kick and flavor punch to mine. The blueberry biscuit was soft and the berries added just the touch of sweetness to balance out all of the savory goodness inside. Win! He claims they are the 3rd best in Tennessee - I've had most of them and I'd say he's underselling himself. The garlic cheddar biscuit was crazy tasty and the perfect crumb - moist without being sticky, fluffy without being bready, and flavored but not too salty. I got mine as an egg and pepper Jack sando but would have been happy just eating the biscuit alone. The location is in a niche spot, it is a very small location, but obviously well liked by locals and travelers alike. If you are driving, be sure to have some coin change for street parking.
