My review in English... They say that lightning does not strike the same place twice, but my wife and I witnessed that it can happen. Once again, the dining experience and service we received at Matsuri Restaurant tonight, October 10th was incredible! The atmosphere was perfect to enjoy a very incredible, satisfying, delicious and exquisitely unique second gastronomic act. The food was again amazing and the presentation is indescribable! And what can I say about the service... the service, the attention, the human warmth; It's what makes the tasting experience! Once again, the service was more than AMAZING, super attentive, everything on time and very efficient. The only thing different was the protagonists and engineers of this experience. Orlando, like Garzón, was a tremendous host. Super attentive, friendly, very aware of the description of each dish and very charismatic! My wife and I enjoyed your hospitality, as well as Victoria's warmth of attention! And as much as on our first visit to the restaurant, Gonzalo was attentive to everything and letting his team show the best of them. A good leader and very attentive, professional and charismatic. Definitely a tremendous restaurant to visit for any occasion! A delicious experience that we could appreciate with all the senses!

David our fabulous and talented bartender!!

More like 3.5 Stars, but not 4-Stars…read more Being a native Japanese, I've tried several Japanese restaurants and local sushi places in Santiago. And ShooGun is probably the most authentic Japanese food you can find in Chile besides Kintaro near Centro. Unlike the new joints in more contemporary mood, such as Temple Lounge (@ Intercontinental) or Osaka (@ W Hotel), atmosphere is pretty straight forward, old-school Japanese sushi bar or Izakaya. So this place is more suitable for more corporate/business dinner. *Not recommended for those looking for a romantic dinner. Food quality is good. Santiago has a decent seafood, and this place does serve good sashimis. As for drinks, they have pretty limited selection of Japanese beer/sake. You can still enjoy the domestic brands of beers/wines. Price setting is quite high probably due to its location, target, and hard-to-get ingredients. Because of the high price, the restaurant is usually not too busy. Most likely no need to make reservation.

This is one of those things.. Yes - it's probably the best Japanese food you'll find in Santiago…read more Is it good Japanese food? The fact that they restrict themselves to mainstream and locally available fish selection is probably a plus, since the fish is fresh and tasty, and the presentation is legitimate and tasteful - actual sushi, rather than the "Papa John's Sushi Dippin' Strips" obscenity that is most local sushi, so unreserved kudos for that most fundamental metric. Still, the menu is flat and touristy. I would put it on a par with what you would expect to find on the catwalks at Japantown in San Francisco - geared towards the ignorant and wide-eyed tourist. The place is dirty, with visible accumulations of grime in the screen-doors. There's lots of waiting, mistakes, contrition, explanations in place of decent service. We had to wait over 10m between the natto and the unagi that we ordered simultaneously to end our meal "because they got other customers"? Seriously? Ankimo, and even ahi are un-heard of. The food was not bad, the fish reasonably fresh, and as with the rest of Chile's Japanese offerings, asking for Nigori Sake just breaks the program - the concept of unfiltered sake is just sooo incomprehensible. For the stupidly high prices, it's a bit of an insult.

The place is small, with a downstairs and upstairs area and a small sushi bar to saddle up at. But, it's quite small so I preferred to saddle up to a table. The ambiance is lacking and there was a faint scent of cleaning products. I ordered the tuna sashimi over a bed of rice, 2 tuna niguiri rolls, pork gyoza and a miso soup. While none of my dishes hit it out of the park, the gyozas were better than the rest. Unfortunately, I found the tuna to be overly fishy, which suggests it wasn't the freshest. Sad to say I won't be returning back here.

I keep wanting to have faith but I have had so many bad experiences here over the past two years!!!…read more This USED to be my go to Japanese place. The food has gotten A LOT worse over the past two years, prices have gone way up, and the service has declined. The ramen is probably the worst I've tasted. I've eaten ramen all over Japan, USA, Canada, Europe, Brasil, Peru, and this is by far the worst I have tried. I've tried their miso, shoyu, tantanmen, and the WORST was their tonkotsu. I tried two bites when they came out with their new ramen menu, the broth was flavorless, the pork chashu was tough over cooked and inedible, and I tried two bites and sent it back. The worst part is the server and kitchen said that this is how it was supposed to be and wouldn't let me return it for anything else. And they still charged me for it after sending it back to the kitchen and not eating it!! I told them that it was terrible service and they said that if I didn't like the service I shouldn't come back (NEVER WILL). Their sushi sucks, rolls meh, the sashimi came out half frozen with frost cristals when you bit into it, it's like they just don't care!
