Husband filled it and ran it over to Matlock's to check... great service as always... thoroughly checked out the tire and then the other three... we knew the tires had some wear... the flat tire had a puncture... and the other three had wear on the inside side walls.. time for replacement!!! I needed my car to get home from work. Mike put the spare on and my husband got the car to work for me.... I got off work at 3:30 took the car back and Mike had all four tires put on balanced, and I was off to home within an hour. The service here has always been exceptional. I have been very pleased with honest service you get here. Been using them for several years. Family based and will let you know if they can't fix something or if they recommend someone else cheaper. I was in getting tires and brakes today and pretty easy to schedule my time and was in and out two hours flat. While I was there a young college girl was in for a flat tire that had damage. They came out to her and let her know the damage was on side of tire but could not be fixed. However, they had a recent used tire from a customer who got new ones last week and got her on the road back to Atlanta for $25 saving her a new tire for a while. Been in several times for nails or screws and never been charged whether I got the tires here or not. They might be busy late but you can get pretty quick service if your in early morning. read more

went for alignment. was told both upper control arms need replaced because of bad ball joints. upper and lower ball joints can be pressed in. lied to about the price of alignment. then wanted extra 1400 dollars for the control arms. Brought in the van to get tires checked for air levels after light came on. They had me in and out without an appointment in ten minutes. I've been here twice. First was a tire patch. Little bit pricy but not too bad and service was great so I returned later. My 2nd trip here was not as good. I came for some diagnostic work (engine shake under certain conditions). The service advisor informed me my car had no oil in it and if I drove it home the engine would blow up. They tried to sell me an oil change with a coloring additive to help find the oil leak. I think the tech confused the engine oil life sensor for oil level since the oil life sensor said I had 0% engine oil life. Yes the engine at the time was due for a change, but that is vastly different than no oil in the engine. I declined their service, checked the dipstick (which had oil in it) and was on my way; they did not charge me that day. When I changed the oil the following week, the standard amount of oil came out. Later I took my car to another mechanic who found the TSB for my vehicles shake problems. I think given their strong reputation this is probably not a typical experience at Matlock's. read more

My sister was just told by Matlock that her tires purchased at Lovell & Kingston Pike in August 2021 are now dry rotting. How can that be as they have only 20,000 miles, good tread and are only 3 years old? Their shop supervisor, who was unaware of the invoice installation date, told me upon inspection of the tires they go back to 2019!! So when my sister purchased them in August 2021 she wasn't aware they put tires on her car that were "already almost 2 years old." So fair warning to anyone purchasing tires, insist on current manufactures date on all tire purchases. We won't be doing business with this company any longer. read more

I know there a ton of tire stores out there and Costco is across the street. But, I am a fan of Matlock Tire because they are honest people who do good work. They won't sell you extra services, warranties, or tires. No long pitch about how you need 4 new tires when you really only want a simple repair after running over a nail. They give you a fair assessment and sell you what you need. Before going here, I knew about Matlock because they were the main tire shop when I was a kid. But, I moved away for 15+ years and grew accustomed to some of the chain tire shops. So, when I moved back here, I used Discount Tire because I had used them in my previous city. That was just fine until I got my new Tesla Model 3 about 2 years ago and had a tire issue (a nail in the tire after a couple weeks ownership). Discount Tire told me the tire couldn't be repaired and, because it is all wheel drive, I'd need 4 new tires! I drove to Matlock right afterward and they repaired the tire without any issue. They earned my business after that. Fast forward to today...I hit one of the many potholes on I-40 and it blew my tire. Matlock took care of ordering the OEM tire and had better pricing than Costco. They had many cars in the parking lot (even another Tesla) and seem to serve all types of vehicles. Overall: Highly recommended. Good people, services, and prices. read more

This place is well known by the locals and is recommended by almost everyone. I also prefer doing business with local companies when possible. I stopped by here with a lawn tractor tire, and it took them less than 5 minutes to fix. They charged me - zero - that's right, nothing. I stopped by on Christmas Eve with a low tire on my Honda Accord. The guy upfront said we're busy right now, but if you can be back at 10:30, we'll take a look. I showed up at 10:30. They took it back, found a nail in the tire, fixed it, and charged me - zero - again that's right nothing, said Merry Christmas. They're in business to make money, but they're also building long-term relationships. I came back here because of the lawn tractor tire, and now they've earned some loyalty. read more

My husband and I are from Ohio and we're in Tennessee on vacation when we felt a wobble in one of our tires. We found the nearest tire service center and ask them to check it out. After checking our tires the manager came out told us that one of our wheels was a half an ounce out of balance and told us we didn't owe him anything and to enjoy the rest of our trip. We thought that was very unusual because we were from out of town and they could've really taken us for a lot of money but instead sent us on our way free of charge. Thank you so much! Got my work done for my front brakes , same day they were squeaking really loud and I came back next day and older man, the owner refused to do a road test. He drove the car in back lot at 2 mph and said he could hear nothing. I spent 500 plus dollars on new rotors and brakes and he refused to acknowledge the issue or drive car on road to test. Said everything was fine and yelled at me saying he was the professional. Never go to this place for service!!!! My daughter was passing through the Farragut area and had a low tire on her truck nearby. She did not have the proper tools to get the tire off. She noticed this shop across the street, so called them and asked for assistance. They declined but said they would look if she was able to get the tire off and bring it to them. After getting assistance from friends that lived in the area, they were able to get the tire off the truck and bring it to the shop. Upon arrival, they insulted my daughter and her girlfriend for taking so long to get the tire off the truck. They then advised that it would take at least an hour for them to look at it. Turns out, it was a leaky valve stem, which they replaced for $40.00! Unbelievable that they would charge $40.00 to replace a valve stem and then not even put a valve stem cap back on it. Clearly, they took advantage of the situation. I'm shocked at the lack of integrity and disappointed with the level of quality and service received. Extremely poor customer service, condescending towards Women and overall bad attitude. Hard to believe a place like this exists and continues to operate. Avoid this place like the plague, they do not deserve your business. read more

This is not your average tire shop. The lobby and waiting area doesn't smell like tires, fuel, oil, or monkey grease. The waiting areas ate adequately supplied with various seating, ample magazines, free wi-fi, coffee, children's play area, and radio music...country music for those who care. The best part about the waiting area is the way thru are separated from the main lobby. Makes for a "respite", a true relaxed atmosphere. I've listened to the staff interact with guests via phone and in person. They appear friendly and genuine. When customers walk in they are immediately greeted and cared for. They never sound rushed to get the NEXT person in line like so many other places. When an additional service is needed there appears to be no pressure to buy. The customer is given the info, details, reason why but the customer decides what they want to do. This is also not the norm at most service stores. As a woman, and someone who lived during the 1980's, this location is truly dated in its decor. The paint color, wall paper, tile flooring, and furnishings...though tidy and functional...are SO DATED...it's a step back in time. I presume the comfort level supersedes the "look". We are previous Tire Barn customers (for 8 years)...we are now Matlock Loyal. read more

It's a long overdue review on my part. Let me also admit a bias here. We've used Matlock since before Costco and Walgreens were across the road, and Matlock was in a tiny little space somewhere over there. The father of one of my childhood freinds works there, too. And they've helped my mom out over and over throughout the years. So yes, I am biased. Matlock has always taken care of our vehicles fast and for a fair price. I've never felt screwed over when I walk out, and I never feel pressured going in. I've moved away from TN, and when I need a fast oil change or last minute work before I am going home they've always been willing to work me in. Some more objetive statements I could include would be that they have a very comfortable waiting area with plenty of seats. There's a kid area, too. It's a pretty sharp and clean facility and the folks are never rude. I went in there recently and saw nobody I knew. My mom knows everyone, and she kept saying "tell them you are my son!" Name dropping is not something I want to do, so we just went in, near closing time, and asked if they could do a quick patch on my wife's car tire that had run over a nail which was sticking precariously in the side of the tire, just dying to explode. They didn't know who the heck we were. It was 5:20 on a Friday and by 5:45, we had a fixed tire at a low price and not a lick of the "it's almost closing time" bitterness thrown in. If you look back through my reviews for one I wrote on Rockville MD's Best Auto Repair, you'll know I am fervently loyal when I find a good vehicle repair place. Matlock is my go-to when I am in TN. And I feel really good knowing my mom has a reliable place to take her car where she'll be treated right. read more

INCREDIBLY disappointed with the service. Visiting the tail of the dragon, and got an appt at 4:00 for ONLY a brake flush. Needed it done terribly before hitting the dragon, and drove an hour away to matlock. Walked in and the guy immediately carried an asshole demeanor. He said "ohhh yeah, we can't do that. We can do brake flushes, but not for performance cars. They're very different." Absolutely bullshit. I'm a BMW technician myself, and there is NOTHING different that needs to be done from a normal flush. 20 min process, in and out. Same fluid and similar process as any other dot 4 car. I told him that, and he looked very uncomfortable and CONTINUED to make snippy comments trying to push me out the door. Absolutely ridiculous. Guess I'll drive back an hour and come back in the morning to the amazing people at auto works of Knoxville, who said they would help me out. It kills me seeing service like this as a technician. Slimy people like this ruin the automotive business as a whole. What kind of auto shop can't do a 20 min service that's advertised on their website :( So sad.
