Disappointed to say the least. We have been attending for 6-8 months, 2-4 times a week. Results were not great, tutors always changed, not consistent, difficult to communicate with. Just a place for the kids to do their homework, after school offers that!! Scottsdale Education is way better. Save your money!!! Stay away. Dear Yelp readers/parents/students, When I was younger I had countless math tutors and always struggled in math. I could never get an A or anything close so I never considered myself a great student. It was not until Lynette Groves Mathnasium of Scottsdale did I earn my first A and many more after. Mathnsium of Scottsdale cannot promise any child an A, but Mathnsium of Scottsdale can promise a great learning environment, AMAZING instructors (who will go over a problem with you a 1,000 times until you understand...everyday I am truly amazed at how patient the workers are), customized learning plan for each individual student, and a stress free environment that rewards success and praises progress. One thing I love about Mathnsuim of Scottsdale is that I can go everyday for an 1.5 hour and never get behind on homework. Math for me use to be a nightmare and now its one of my favorite subjects. Math is not easy and as your child continues in school its going to get harder. If your looking for help in math for your child GO TO MATHNASIUM OF SCOTTSDALE!!! You won't regret it, (but you may if you don't go :) ). Really appreciate the workers like MILES, GREG, SHANE, NICK , and so on. Without mathnasium I probably wouldn't have gone from a C or D student in math to an A+ student. I have spent the last 12 months for both of my daughters here. It has been great for us. Mike who runs it is fantastic. They spend 1/2 the time on homework the other half on skills. My kids used to to go to another place for years that sent you hone with daily work and never really "taught". This has been ssssoooo much better. Wish I had done this years ago instead. Words can't express how much I like this business. I have two girls, one who is now in college and one a senior in high school. Between them they have used Mathnasium for the last 5 years or so, so I have had a long relationship with them. Here is why I think this business is outstanding: First of all, I love the way it is set up. Prior to their time at Mathnasium, my girls went to a regular tutor for math help. The problem was, if their appointment was on a Monday but they'd already had a test, they had nothing to do at the tutor. Or, somedays there just wasn't homework on the day they had scheduled tutoring. At Mathnasium you pay a flat fee and go to the tutor as often as you need, for as long as you need. When it was an assignment that was difficult or a unit that was more tricky, the girls could go every day. I more then got my money out of their services. In addition, I can't say enough about the quality of the tutoring and the genuine care they have about their students. They really work with them, the school and the parents to make sure everyone is on the same page and that the student will be successful. They were able to go over tests that were difficult to see where the deficiencies were and then help the girls correct their mistakes and move on. I feel it is a very comprehensive program. Finally, I found Mathnasium to be very responsive when I had questions or concerns, which was not always the case with the classroom teachers. My emails were always responded to promptly, issues were addressed and solutions mapped out. I was very hesitant to go here because I knew that math tutoring is quite pricey; especially after looking up other Mathnasium price checks online. Woah! Half of what I thought it would be! Affordable and very convenient hours. But am I getting my monies worth? My 13 year old daughter hates math with a passion. She has never been good at it at all and has always, no matter what, maintained an "F". She loses concentration very fast after she gets confused. Once your kids lose interest and they don't know how to do a certain part of homework, parents we all know they either skip it or become very whiney. How frustrating. On my way home tonight, after I picked her up, she tells me, "I like math"! I had to pull the car over cause I thought I was going to have a heart attack lol. This location has amazing tutors that keeps the child involved and paying attention. Different techniques are used by the tutors that accommodates the child's learning ability. My daughter says that she's understanding more and is feeling more confident to walk into her math classroom at school. She told me that she feels certain that she can pass her next exam. After only taking her 6 times! I love that with my membership she go attend unlimited visits every month. I take her almost everyday. She's excited to go after school and I can finally relax because I honestly just don't have the patience to sit there everyday with her. Did I mention that she gets help on her homework?! Is there anything this place can't do? Let me answer for you..NO. I have tried numerous tutors and places for help. Nothing worked. This was my last resort and I wish it had been my first. Thank you Miles for getting me all set up and Greg for working with my daughter. She loves working with you. I am very confident that this place will help her achieve her goals and I recommend this place to any parent looking for a math tutor. I'm seeing improvements already. Don't do what I did and wait. I have three children that have attended for quite a while - the program itself has been very helpful, but scheduling the children to attend is a nightmare. I have kids that play sports and we attend a school not near our center. They are often turned away because there are no more spots to accommodate them. We have to schedule way in advance and they do not allow any standing appointments at the same time each day for our family. We have to book every single class on an app that is frustrating to use, the times slots I want are usually not available for all three of my kids. Somedays, such as Sundays I try to schedule a week weeks ahead of time and there are no spots available. It is a pretty expensive program to not have adequate staffing during the hours they are open. They are only open part time 5 days week so it should be staffed better. I read the five star review that Sue posted from 2013 she stated "At Mathnasium you pay a flat fee and go to the tutor as often as you need, for as long as you need" As of 2019 that is definitely NOT the case- if my child has a test she will be turned away unless we pre-scheduled her 60 minute time slot. Yet when I asked for a standing appointment at the same time everyday, I was told I could not do it and must book every single 60 min appointment on an APP - if you pre-book on the App and do not show up they fine you! read more

Worst experience you could ever imagine for your child. we sent our son there for math help, instead he was actually harassed by the head of the Scottsdale location, Miles, as punishment for talking with another student. We were told our son was speaking with another student, who was working with an instructor, and instead of simply telling him to knock it off, the instructor (head of the center) harassed him about his size in front of the other students and whispered insults into another student's ear who turned around and laughed at our son. The insults continued from there. I called the owner of the Scottsdale and Arcadia facilities, Lynette Groves, to tell her about the incident and she essentially said that it was our son's fault for distracting another student. REALLY...so you think you are in your right and that it's appropriate for one of your instructors to publicly HARASS a child? WOW...great way to build confidence in your students. There are many other ways to get your child math help...and you should run from this place and seek out alternatives. Please refer to Mathnasium's response to my post. I really think it speaks volumes about their teaching philosophy and what they deem as appropriate in terms of instructing and working with children. If a student is distracting another student, then I agree that they should be instructed to stop (if that was even occurring) and the parents notified (as I told them on the phone, which they did not do), but rather they somehow feel that, that behavior justifies having their instructors insult and harass that student publicly across the room, as well as whisper insulting comments to other students, which causes them to turn around and laugh. Then to call the owner (Lynette Groves) of the company directly only to be told that they are 'justified' in what they did, seems like an odd approach from an organization that 'caters' to children. Lynette can post whatever clever response she likes to try to turn this around, yet the facts remain that her employee behaved inappropriately toward a child, she defended him (somehow blaming the child that they incited and deserved his disparaging remarks) and parents should be very wary of leaving their children in the care and influence of people like this. read more

I have brought my daughter and my son to Mathnasium of Scottsdale for several years. While we have paid for other math tutoring services before, I have found Mathnasium to be the best. My daughter - who has been attending this location the longest - always reports getting the help that she needs. We are particularly fond of one of lead tutors, Miles. He is a GREAT tutor. He is a big reason why we attend this tutoring service rather than others closer to home. read more
