Well, after paying approx. $4500.00 his score went even further down. To our utter surprise, he cony improved to a 1350 !!! It is Horrible Horrible Place, just like Sylvan Center (have had experience with that too and thought this may be a better center). The teachers are young college students and they even discourage students on many levels. They will just give students a few questions as home work and that was it. Towards the end of your sessions, they start pressurizing you to buy more sessions and spend several thousands more! My son was extremely heartbroken! We…read moredecided to homeschool this year since virtual was not working for us and I needed the additional in person support to assist her with math. It was a hard decision to send her anywhere in person during this time but I decided to take the leap. The past week my daughter mentioned to me on two different days that she doesn't feel comfortable being there because the owners/teachers didn't wear a mask. I was completely shocked so I decided over the next few days to walk her in and out and see for myself. The first day I walked in right when the facility opened and noticed the owner at the front reception/office desk without a mask but when I walked back out about a minute later he had it on. The second day I walked in I didn't see them at the front, so I parked my car where I could see right into the facility. Sure enough, I seen the young lady sitting at the front without a mask and the owner Ed standing behind her without a mask, then Ed walks over to the student area without a mask on. I immediately walk in and confront them both, and asked if there was a reason on why they didn't have masks on the entire time the facility was open with students in there. They came up with every reason, "it's hard to wear it", "it's hard to talk on the phone" "we keep our 6ft", "I don't think it's mandated". I was completely appalled! They never apologized but just defended their reasons on why they didn't feel they needed to wear it. I immediately told them to unenroll my child. I have contacted the franchise's corporate office and local health authorities. I want to share my experience with as many parents as possible, because right now we are all doing our best to give our children the best education and when we pay money and bring our kids to an environment where we are told certain safety measures are put in place, we expect them to be upheld, especially wearing a mask and we certainly don't expect the fact of wearing one to be argued about. I know many parents use this facility so please share this experience with everyone you know as most parents drop their children off and don't enter so they may be completely unaware of what these owners are even doing.

I understand everyone has a different experience but in the area of education, qualifications, and communication they are top class. Because they are new, they do not have athletic sports yet, but this school is about a STEM education not athletics. I've found Kumon to be pretty extraordinary so far. Started early, it's basically an after-school…read moreformula for putting your kids a few years ahead of grade level in math or reading. Side benefit is that you the parent actively participate in your kids' education and know exactly where they're doing well or struggling. What's fascinating to me is that Kumon is roughly 20-30 minutes a day worth of work (for one subject - best unless your kids have lots of time to burn to stick to one subject), yet I often feel like it has more impact than the entirety of time spent in school. It makes me honestly question the foundation of the way kids are taught in school. There are some things that drive me a little crazy. There is very little guidance on how to introduce new concepts, parents are just thrown at it and have to improvise. Math is *incredibly* repetitive at lower levels in Kumon. Kids do multiple thousands of simple addition problems before doing one subtraction problem. The material is hard to stomach in that sense, it's not an educational program you'd envision designing yourself. The typical criticism that Kumon is rote, traditional, etc. seems to me to be true. But some people jump from that to saying that Kumon just teaches memorization without understanding. I don't think that's true so far. I think my son has developed a "number sense" that I think very few kids have at this age. At least from my experience so far, I have a very positive impression.

The biggest issue was inconsistent basic care, specifically around diapering and hygiene. There were multiple occasions where my child was not changed in a timely manner, including at pickup. This led to repeated and severe diaper rash that required medical attention. This was not a one-time incident, but a pattern. In the two's classroom, under Ms. Shy, these issues were especially noticeable. Despite raising concerns multiple times, there was little consistency in improvement and retaliation to the parents and the children. Ms. Yamuna is amazing!! I also observed safety concerns, including cleaning products being left within reach of very young children. For a toddler environment, this is unacceptable. What was most frustrating was the response from administration. Concerns were acknowledged, but addressing them required repeated follow-ups and extensive back-and-forth. It did not feel like there was a strong commitment to making consistent changes. Additionally, some of these concerns actually reflect issues that had been documented previously at the state level, which made the lack of improvement even more concerning. To be fair, not all staff contributed to this experience. However, the inconsistency in care and lack of accountability ultimately led me to withdraw my child. I'm sharing this so other parents can ask informed questions and make the best decision for their child.
