My son has been going to Sylvan Learning Centre off and on for about 2 years. There is definitely…read morea lot of great things about this place and I would change very little about it if I could. I guess the frustrating part is that our actually school system doesn't have the funding and support to get our children up to speed if they require some extra coaching. When I first contacted this centre they offered to do a free assessment to see where my son was in relation to where he should be academically. They were also able to determine where he needed extra support and where he excelled. Based on the assessment they were able to give me a time line and how many hours were required to achieve each mile stone. With updates given to me along the way to make sure they were on track. There is also accountability on their part to make sure that they are on track with their estimation. The investment isn't cheap but there has been a noticeable difference in where my son is with his reading, writing, spelling and over all interest in school work. I think the cost is approximately $50 an hour. They also offer the students incentives so that they stay motivated and focus on their work in forms of Tokens (so they can purchase things from their 'store'). This has proven to work very well for me son. I have recommended this place to my friends and family and we will return in the future if need be. My son is doing great in school, but we are using sylvan to keep him excelling and ahead of the class.
