We made an appointment with Shaun the director for a tour with our son today. Arrived and rang the bell and no one was there. We waiting for fifteen mins before we left very disappointed. While we were there, we called and mailbox is not assign and we email Shaun also. I guess the first RED flag was it took him around a week to even get back to us for this appointment. Definitely not bring my kid here. I'll make sure this is posted everywhere online for other parents to see. We've looked at about 14 centres at this point. In that pool, I would say there was 1 5 star, 3 4 star, and the rest were 1-2. Needless to say, they all cost an arm and a leg. This is the 5 star. From the moment we walked in the door, we were hit with a sense of both home and calm. The environment was all about calm, neutral colors, child lead art, plants, animals, and natural materials like wood, branches, leaves, and pinecones. When we walked past the kitchen, it smelled like fresh baking (the children were cooking with one of the teachers). On the rug in the adjacent area, an instructor was leading a group of children in a yoga class. It was almost comically amazing. We were lead through to the main activity room and talked a bit about the philosophy of the centre, where we learned that they follow a 'emergent' curriculum, which is apparently about learning the children's interests and building the curriculum to suit. Naturally. Though I wasn't surprised, I was still very disappointed to learn there are more than 100 families ahead of us on the waitlist. Still, we may get in depending on the circumstances. Highly recommend this daycare. The teachers are passionate about kids and the kids love their teachers. The program is amazing, I never thought my son would love going to school so much! He's always smiling and happy to go to his "red school" which is what he calls kiddy junction. The meal program is also excellent, as a busy parent, it's good know my kid is eating healthy at school. I'm always so impressed with the meals they have (examples, Japanese pasta gratin, Italian sausage edamame risotto, pasta with salmon and garlic sauce) I feel so lucky to have found such a great centre! I'm going to preface this review with the disclaimer that our son did not end up attending Kiddy Junction Academy, the reason being that it would add a crazy two hours of commuting to our everyday. With that said, we met with them several times and communicated with them over four months waiting for a space to open up. They were so amazing that we were tempted to brave that commute because of how impressed we were with their directors, teachers, facilities, and philosophy. In the end, we sadly relinquished our spot for this Fall due to the commute, but I wanted to write this to thank them for the time they took touring us through their lovingly curated facilities, and the genuine interest they took in our son...and probably every child that goes through their doors. Their program is remarkable. I witnessed the respect and affection they had for the children, firsthand. We loved how the children ate on real dishes on white linens, slept in a room that is only ever for sleep, the child-led learning based approach to curriculum that constantly changes based on the childrens' ever-evolving interests, and last but not least, the empathy and support we, as the parents, felt from them. It also felt noticeably less chaotic and more creative than our current daycare in general. Honestly, if this place is an option for you, it's definitely worth checking out. I went to this daycare to check out for future childcare. The floors were extremely dirty, the toilet had not been cleaned in a long time and there were obviously signs of rodents(droppings). I raised my concerns of the obvious deficiencies during the initial meeting with no really good response to the condition of the daycare. I would not recommend this childcare read more

My little girl loves her preschool. The teachers are there to answer your questions and give feedback. I like the fact they have nutritious meals on site made by there chef. Every morning they have fresh baked muffins and coffee for the parents during drop off!! It is a 15 minute drove for me but it's worth it! read more

I'm surprised by so many great reviews and in fact I was a victim of them. I actually wonder if they're all from real parents. Anyway, we had a TERRIBLE experience here. Beneath the surface of the spiel (and the place does look magical), the teachers are confused, the owners have no idea how to deal with real issues and they feed the kids very little and totally processed foods. Just incredibly disappointing. If you're considering this place, ask them about the issues I mention above and listen to your gut. read more

Our 3 years at KJA have been nothing short of extraordinary. Both our children attended Division I and graduated with confidence, awareness, independence, nurture and well prepared for Kindergarten. This is all a reflection of the teachers' drive, passion and love for the children. The amount of detail and thought that goes into the curriculum, field trips, activities and meal planning are remarkable and really a learning mecca. We visited numerous care facilities upon our move to Vancouver and couldn't find anything comparable to KJA. The Reggio and Montessori components of the school have allowed our children to flourish in their own respective ways. The morning table activities were always a favorite of our children, along with the daily changing art table that incorporated creativity plus fine motor skills. There's always a routine to the day and children are always appropriately stimulated. Their teaching goes beyond the classroom, the children frequently go for walks or outings to the park and the teachers teach them about road and pedestrian safety. Not to mention summer camp in the months of July and August are jam packed with fun activities (Maplewood farms, Science World, Aquarium, Jericho beach, bowling) that allowed our children to create memorable experiences. There's so many aspects we adore from the mandatory outdoor time rain/shine, nutritious global lunch menu, daily pictures recapping their day, parent newsletters, the adorable winter concert and of course the outstanding graduation ceremony (university like). The teachers, true mavens, show the children an incredible amount of love while teaching them how to interact with their friends, etiquette and instilling autonomy. As parents we most appreciate that the teachers always encouraged our children to try new things, whether it's food, a book, or a different way to play. Stepping out of your comfort zone is an important life lesson and KJA helped equip our children. The teachers always take the time to understand family and home life so they can help follow through with habits and reinforcing positive behaviour. We feel very fortunate our children had the opportunity to grow, develop at such a beautiful and loving place. KJA was heaven for us, we never worried about their safety, their meals and snacks, their opportunity to learn. There's no where else we've felt more like a home than KJA. read more

Definitely an awesome decision for childcare! Kiddy Junction provided a safe, encouraging, and versatile environment for my son to play, learn and explore. After only a few months of enrollment at KJA, he has become more independent, neat, patient, and learned how to eat neatly by himself, play independently for half hour at a time, and walk by himself without fussing when we go out. All the learning and independence we tried hard to reinforce at home seems to be learned effortlessly at KJA by following examples in the calm environment. There are always lots of educational toys, arts and crafts activities to keep him interested and engaged. All the teachers are very patient and loving, they respect the children's differences. Kids there are calm and playful. It is very nice to see my son has made lots of friends, and often are having too much fun to go home when we pick him up at end of the day. With almost a decade of experience, Shaun and Melissa are very hands on. The daycare is run very smoothly. They continue to choose good programs and activities such as yoga, various field trips during the summer camp, visits from the lizards guy etc. to broaden the kids' exposure to new experiences.
