There are blueberry bushes as far as the eye can see, and you need your own container, but if you love that summer feeling of picking your own fruit, this is the place. The payment is $1.50 per pound or a dollar per pound if you get 10 lb or more. It's all on the honor system, which was really nice and refreshing to see that there's still some trust in our community. The owner came around a few times talking, laughing, and joking with us and our fellow pickers. he encouraged us to eat as many as we possibly could off the bushes so we didn't put a dent in our haul. He also provides bottled water underneath a tent when it gets too toasty out. The only thing I would caution is that it can be easy to pick an abundance of blueberries without noticing. my friend and I were there for just over an hour, and when I weighed my bag I was shocked to find out that I had done 14 lbs. My only issue now is to figure out what to do with them all! I highly recommend going as an essential part of a summer in Bellingham.

This place is INCREDIBLE!…read more I have many glorious things to praise and praise and praise K'ul about! I know we're all chocolate "experts" in the U.S., but really, this has to be the best and as "local" as chocolate can get in Minnesota. There are 4 bean-to-bar chocolate companies in MN, but of the 4, K'ul seems to be the only one that is farm-to-bean-to-bar. They're creating relationships with directly with the cacao farmers all across the equator and also found out that they're paying ABOVE the fair trade wages. That's admirable. I first discovered K'ul last April (2016) at a women's networking meeting. We were taking a tour of the entire business and was so impressed and invigorated to learn and understand more about what goes into chocolate (because let's face it, we're all blindly eating food w/o out truly know where it comes from, the soil it was grown in, the family of cacao beans that are represented, how much cocoa butter can vary in chocolate from company to company, etc. Being able to see all of their beautiful machinery (winnower, roaster, assembling, etc. etc. etc), really opened my eyes and made me a huge believer in their product. Obviously I've been talking about everything but the flavor... Please please PLEASE go out and buy every kind and see for yourself! It's worth it and so satisfying. The blend bars are cleverly crafted for different needs (electrolytes, protein, oxidative stress, etc) & palates. Then there are the single origin bars...so true & pure. I love savoring a square that represents a place in this world by people who are fully invested into growing cacao. There's also vanilla, saltsation (which uses cyprus sea salt!), & probably some others I'm missing, but ohhhhhh, so good. I just heard that they came out with an 85% dark (all of the other bars are 70%)...which I'm on the prowl for! Their storefront actually has a bar...where you can have your chocolate bars custom made! Eeee! And chocolate dipped dried fruits (my favorite is the ginger) Besides their storefront, their bars are in a number of stores (lots of the co-ops (maybe all?), Whole Foods, & I'm hoping a zillion other places so I can have convenient access for all of my future chocolate fixes). I'm devoted to K'ul and will be back over and over and over!!!

My family has been going to Manthey's for Christmas trees every year for as long as I can remember…read more We are always greeted warmly and find a few good trees quickly (we do multiple trees at my house). The people that work here are friendly and always make sure we leave with candy canes. We just went a few days ago and are really happy with the trees we took home. Manthey's has become part of our family tradition!

We handed the older female employee a $20 and a $10... she was holding on to the money as if she didn't have change. As I was waiting for my change she asked if we wanted candy canes instead (!?!?) we both said "no" awkwardly. Moments later, we found and handed her a $5... she took it and did not hand over the original $10, I said "oh we're just giving you exact change now" .. she then asked two more times if we wanted a candy cane.... We both said "no" and she said "okay" and walked off with our money...!?! I don't know about the average person, but this was awkward and not worth arguing with a potentially unstable person over $10. Very strange interaction that I would avoid. Wouldn't recommend.
