Wilkeson Pointe Park - Beach entrance

Spacious and quiet outdoor area, great for dogs or kids to run around…read more There is ample field space, chairs and paths for walking, biking etc. i love how the "beach" is perfect for dogs (the sign says no swimming or wading) but its a great chance for a dog to be in water for free. The views of the water and downtown were lovely. The park is well maintained, cleaned and not crowded. We went on a Sunday morning around 11 AM, and it was pretty serene. There's also plenty of spots to sit and relax, which could be cute reading areas. There is also a little kids area with slides. Amazing spot. A little windy so I recommend bringing a hair scarf or hat.

The beach is still inaccessible there are giant cement blocks so it's not a straight shot down for a wheelchair and the grass around them is very uneven and hilly like ground for a wheelchair to go over and I got stuck in the rocks and had to ask people to help push me out, then on the way back to the walk way (video I posted) my wheelchair was going to flip. There are small simple things that they could have been done, I've been to other beach's that have strips over the sand/ rocks that wheelchairs can ride over. The building looks nice they added a small golf course. To me it seems like all they did was build the restaurant and build up the rock walls especially around the beach.

It's okay though, because he's famous. I love this place, as I love the adjacent Squaw Island Park and Bird Island Pier. A lot of people underrate this place but they shouldn't. It's a lovely spot in Buffalo and unlike any other, especially because the Pier that extends out from here, goes all the way under the PB. I was last here not too long ago, a few months maybe. I always bring out of town tourists here (if they like walking), we wander around Squaw Island, the park, this part of it, and then along the Pier. It's beautiful, the views are spectacular, I recommend it to anyone. It's pretty harrowing in winter, though. In fact, Broderick Park is that amazing park just north of the Peace Bridge. To get to it, you drive all the way to the end of Ferry, across the rusted metal drawbridge, and you're on a little green island, which is also known as Broderick Park. It's a wonderful park with spectacular views of the Peace Bridge (known as the Pizza Bridge to Canadians because it's their most direct link to amazing Pizza... i.e. Buffalo Pizza), and it gives way to Bird Island Pier, where you can flip the bird to Canada-bound trucks and passenger cars and buses, and there's really nothing they can do about it except vow to exact revenge upon their return to the country, which may not even happen given the climate of border crossings into the USA at the moment.

I come here because I love hanging out in the park before, or after, walking out on Bird Island Pier which goes right under the Peace Bridge and is one of the best walks in Buffalo. There's only one way out there, though, and only one way back. The park itself is just a lovely place to spend time. Most recently I was here with an out of town friend from Toronto, and he said "I had no idea Buffalo had places like this." So I have to give it a 5-stars for all the nice experiences I've had here. This park is on the North end of the Island, and if you go to the South end, you can walk along Bird Island Pier all the way under the Peace Bridge and it's fantastic. It's a lovely park with views of both the Industrial areas of Riverside, and the leafy lush Fort Erie, Ontario across the water. It's a nice wildlife sanctuary of sorts too, even though it's got nothing on Tifft. The pier itself scores 5, the park scores 4. It could be a little cleaner, and more could be done with it, but it's still fantastic.

Going over the rickety bridge is quite the adventure. Lots of times in Sundays you'll see small ethnic celebrations going on. It's definitely one of the quieter parks around. The trail leads you down the shore up to Broderick. I highly recommend riding your bike over the turning bridge and to the other side and heading out the Broderick side with the draw bridge

This is a state park, located in Springville just a couple of miles from where the 219 ends. Scoby Dam Park is right down Scoby Hill Road, and at the Dead End is the entrance to the park. Be sure to park to the left of the Dead End sign, as the right side is private property. This place has a very short & sweet history lesson: the Scoby Dam plant was constructed in 1925, placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. Right at the parking lot you can get a pretty gorgeous view of the water streaming over the dam! There are tons of rocks below so it's tough to get closer to the water from there, but further down the path there are a few fairly steep, but manageable declines where you can get a closer view of the falls. The trail you'll follow (just through the gates) is partially still an access road, but once you follow it you'll discover some really nice scenery and foliage. All the way at the end you'll find yourself underneath the bridges that are Cascade Rd and the 219. Overall, you'll get some pretty breathtaking views here, and what's awesome about this place is the fact that you don't have to trail hard to find them! I would totally recommend this place for people who are just starting to get into hiking, or like an easy stroll. Totally worth a visit if you're heading to/through Chataqua County.

The rocks in some area in the creek are tough so water shoes or crocs are recommended. There is a ton of flat spaces though once past the rocks and it's really awesome to just play there on the edge of it with the current pushing you along to the deeper side.

I found this place after doing a little bit of research, and I was not disappointed. The trail is a bit bumpy, unpaved, and difficult to go through. I personally love good trails and hikes, so it doesn't bother me. But i'll recommend wearing good running shoes with strong grip. As you're going through the trail, take it slow and easy so you don't slip on any unstable wood or rocks. You first go down a large staircase from the area I went through, then a 15 minute path. Once we reached the water, I was in awe. The water is bright blue, clean, the trees are as green as they can get, and the breeze is beautiful. The wind was blowing, which was refreshing after a sweaty trail walk. The views were unbelievable, including falls further away. I couldn't even believe it was in the Niagara area. If you're looking for a short trail and stunning views that transport you out of the city, this is the place to visit!! I will definitely be back and try different pathways :)
