The credit card I had on file expired at the end of 2023 and I was enrolled in autopay which unfortunately meant I wasn't checking this every single month. It took around 1.5 months for me to realize the card had expired & therefore payments weren't going through. StorageMart has all your contact info on file but will only attempt to let you know through letters in the mail which I, unfortunately, did not receive. They, however, would have been notified about this by the "Return to Sender" letters they got back. Although, I will note that this information is in their fine print; it is the renters responsibility to make sure payment is made... fine. If I had been any more delayed in discovering this information, my things would have been auctioned off as the facility had already removed MY lock from the unit. Of course, I was charged for them destroying this & then expected to purchase a new one. I could have paid for my things to stay at a motel with heat & running water for a few months after racking up insane fees + the extreme late penalties (around $550 EXTRA). I'll say the motel would have been preferable to the tiny- poorly insulated garage-shack I was actually paying for. They also provide you minimal notice regarding extreme monthly rent increases (the most recent was $70 more per month). Entirely focused on making money, not interested in providing a good product or good service. Would not recommend. Luckily, have removed my things.

The place was locked up like Fort Knox! We left the unit a few days early in our final month and we were pro-rated, not having to pay the full amount. A rare occurrence in many businesses where you pay month to month! The units seem new. They are all so clean and up to date. You can buy a lock there for your unit of you do not have one as well as packing tape and really good boxes if you are moving.

I would not store my items in the Public Storage at 2450 Centre Ave in Calgary. Shortly after we…read moremoved in, we had our storage locker broken into. The thieves had our access code and could defeat the Public Storage lock on the unit. As well, the record of their burglary was deleted from the computer system. They stole all my sports equipment and items of incredible sentimental value that are irreplaceable. After we reported the matter to the police, the response from Public Storage was, firstly, and most insultingly, that the incident never happened. Then they suggested that I was responsible for the loss. The thieves were in the storage unit for HOURS on a date between Christmas and New Year's. We have a description of them provided to the police and some of our replaceable items were found by police. In spite of all of this, Public Storage's response has been defensive and indifferent. Rent a storage somewhere else.

THINK TWICE BEFORE HIRING BIGSTEELBOX We took possession of…read moreour brand new home in September 2024 and had our BigSteelBox delivered on the same day. The driveway was damaged during delivery of the BigSteelBox caused by the deck of the truck, which was captured on video. bigsteelbox.com states that "the BigSteelBox doesn't actually make contact with your driveway at all. No contact means no damage!". This may be true but what they don't tell you is that the deck of the truck may make contact with the driveway and cause noticeable damage. We reached out to BigSteelBox and provided videos along with some photos of the damage. The manager came by the house to review the damage and mentioned that he would acquire some quotes to determine the repair cost. From what I can tell, he only received quotes for the application of a brush on patch. From the research I've done and discussions I've had with local concrete companies, I understand that a patch is only a temporary fix that would stand out from the rest of the driveway. I tried explaining this to the manager and said that we would not be satisfied with a brush on patch. Being a new driveway, we didn't think it was unreasonable to expect BigSteelBox to return the driveway to a reasonably new state that looked consistent and uniform. We provided a quote to the manager from a local company to have the driveway sandblasted and sealed which was less costly than having the damaged section of the driveway replaced. The manager came back with an offer of $600 to cover the cost of a brush on patch and would not consider any other options. As an analogy, if someone broke your window, would you be satisfied with a duct tape patch as the repair? I've also sent emails to feedback@bigsteelbox.com and admin@bigsteelbox.com to hopefully reach some kind of fair resolution but did not receive a reply. Needless to say, we are very disappointed with the customer service we received from BigSteelBox and hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else.
