Wonderful ambiance as soon as you walk in. The decor and colors incorporated into the interior design are so bright and warm. I love how they've incorporated a beeper to let you know when the food is done. The music makes the room so alive, and the wall decor keeps the energy at an all time high. I went with the Iced Yemeni Latte that has cardamon and cloves into it and WOW! It's like a flavor explosion went off in my mouth. Seriously, as soon as I took a sip, it was an aroma of different flavors that work so well together. There were so many good-looking desserts to choose from, it was hard to select only one, but I went with the Pistachio Bamboosa as my dessert. The smooth texture of it along with the crunchiness of the pistachios works extremely well. Felt very light and airy, yet filling. I'm really at a loss of words. It's just such a perfect mixture of ingredients cooked to perfection. You can definitely tell that lots of love went into the menu as a whole. This is a cute coffee shop! I loved the matari latte. It's pretty and pink with rose and crushed Pistachios. I liked that they asked me if i wanted sugar in it and it's not just automatic. Not only does Matari make the most beautiful coffees, teas, and pastries I've ever seen, but they're ALL delicious too! The depth of the flavors they include and the richness of the coffee is unmatched. The staff are so nice and helpful too. They're super friendly and if you have a question about any of their drinks, they're happy to explain them to you. Every drink I've ever had and every pastry I've ever gotten from here are always EXACTLY what I need. My husband isn't a coffee person, but even he enjoys their lattes! And on top of that, they have a HUGE selection of teas and other drinks to choose from for people who aren't interested in coffee. I also have to mention that this cafe is stunning. This place is a elegant coffee shop that is aesthetically pleasing and quiet on the inside (at least at the time i went) which was 3:30 on a Monday, The food here is delicious and very well presented and they have quite a large menu. When i was served food one thing to be noted is they don't hand you any silverware and you have to go across the store to the entrance to go grab your own which i thought was strange, there was also multiple flies in the building landing on the sweeter food at all times. The menu pricing is a little bit higher than the average coffee shops but the service is pretty average, the interior appears very high end and the bathrooms here are very clean and visually pleasing single person bathrooms. read more

We enjoyed the rose milk cake, the lotus (like the cookie brand not the flower) cheesecake, a croissant, and a small lotus pastry. This one is beautiful with nicely thought out decor that is modern and also comfortable. The drink variety is wonderful and so is their pastry variety! I went here once thanks to Yelp! and knew I'd have to come back. I moved, and found out I'm only 5 minutes away now. A very dangerous discovery. I am in love with the matari. I would drive over half an hour just for that alone. The staff is amazing and always great about suggestions and ways to customize the drink to make it perfect for you. I got the Carmel Macchiato with almond milk and a slice of pumpkin cheesecake which was very good. They had a nice seating area for 10 or more. My experience during my first visit to Matari Coffee was superb and I look forward to trying all of their various coffees and teas before I settle on the best of the best. I've had their mafowar coffee and pistachio tea so far and they are my 'go to' depending if I feel like having and amazing coffee or tea. If I want a constant staple of the Yemeni tea culture, I'll go with an Adeni tea which is a milk based tea that is accented with such a unique and subtlety spiced flavor. I still have a ways to go and will update my review accordingly. The manager was so hospitable and engaging in spite of how busy he was and he set the tone for his amazing crew as they were all so pleasant and handled their busy rush with grace and efficiency. The shop itself is beautifully decorated and captures the historical essence of Yemen and the role of coffee in it's rich history. It's hard to be critical of a shop that delivers when it comes to quality, service, and beauty. This cafe is a must try for all and I'm fortunate to live so close to this gem. read more

Now for the Desserts tried all the cup cakes today and was pleasantly surprised with Desi flavor to couple if them ie Gulab Jaman and rasmilai, what a beautiful presentation and flavors spot on. With coffee shops a dime a dozen, I was surprised to see yet another one in Canton, but Matari is pleasantly different. They have a large variety of different coffee and teas and include lots of delicious sweet flavors that are hard to find elsewhere, such as cardamom, my favorite. I ordered an iced Mofawar and it was everything I dreamed of and more. Creamy and so delicious. The pastries looked amazing in the case as well. The atmosphere was clean and modern, yet comfortable and we were able to sit for hours chatting with interruptions. The only thing is I couldn't figure out how to lock the bathroom door. Over my 33 years of life, I've gotten pretty good at opening, closing, and locking doors, but despite all that experience, I wasn't able to figure it out, and with a child already going, wasn't able to leave and ask. However, I look forward to returning at some point to try more coffee and eat some yummy treats! read more
