Strecker does move schedule around but only does it to try new times to benefit the majority of his students.

They are upfront with what they expect from you and are a constant helping hand in taking you to places you never thought you could reach in your training. As someone who works out regularly I am still able to get a great workout every class. At no point have the classes got "easier" and I leave just as exausted as the first class I took. It is a training where you can push yourself every class and expect results, both mentally and physically. Working an office job, karate provides me the perfect stress relief from a corporate position. I can clear my head and focus on myself for an hour or two. I can go on and on of the benifits that karate has provided to my life and well being, but each person is different. Come on in and see what karate training can provide to you.

I've used reviews literally hundreds of times in my purchasing decisions, yet I've come to the…read morerealization that I never write them. In an effort to pay it forward, I decided to start by reviewing a place I feel people need to know about. The dojo in Clawson MI is a place you must check out. The instructors there (Sensei Rob and Sensei Laura) are top notch and have all the traits you could possible seek (highly skilled, passionate, knowledgeable, patient, and just really good people). I've known them for the better part of the last 15 years and can honestly say few people have made more of a positive impact on my life than they have. Aside from the great instruction, the fellow students there are truly a joy to train with. It's humbling when you see them show as great of an interest in your development as they do with there own. You find yourself growing/developing within the group and new friendships are one of the many results. I feel very fortunate that I have gained some great friends over the years through training. You should expect the same. In addition to getting some good exercise and learning/developing self defense techniques, I personally find this place a great mental refuge and a way to get away for 90 minutes from the daily grind. When you train you don't think of that project at work, class you might have a test in, lawn in need of being mowed or your cable/phone bill....you just think about the training. You may, like me, find this to become almost essential to a healthy life. So you've read this far, isn't it about time you just go up there and try a class out for yourself? One of the first things Sensei Rob ever said to me was that the hardest part of training is walking through the door. Once you are there it is easy. While I wasn't sure about that comment at the time, I found it to be very true (in other things as well). Some of you may have driven by the dojo already....contemplated coming in. My hope is that this review will give you the motivation/desire to take that toughest step and walk through the door to give this place a try. I am sure you will thank me later!

My kiddos and I have visited Jaycee park twice while their summer program kids were there, and I'm truly writing as a warning to parents because I would be heartbroken if I had my kids here given what was going on behind the scenes. The number of kids running around screaming curse words and calling each other derogatory names was honestly a bit shocking. I notified one of the girls who seemed to be in charge, because one of the boys was being bullied and I felt for him. I was just told he was new and they knew he was a problem. As I left the park, one of the kids that was being loaded into their van screamed "suck it lady." The driver and girls didn't seem to flinch. The second day, there were no less than 20 kids (some as young as 5 years old because I heard them talking) and 1 girl in charge who couldn't be much older than 18. I've worked at many childcare centers and am a teacher. That child to adult ratio is absolutely not acceptable. Please raise your standard as a childcare establishment and parents please be aware.

It's amazing the way Master Kaz is able to control an entire class, while teaching different groups at their level. Master Kaz is stern, but is stern with kindness, and as a result, my child has confidence and demonstrates self-control. Family Karate Academy is a serious training academy, with Tae Kwon Do instruction, and you can expect your child to learn quickly and grow in technique, confidence and discipline. Master Kaz trains the students to be healthy, focused, and respectful. His instruction includes warm-up. Master Kaz also teaches stranger-danger, bully prevention, and has family events. There is plenty of room at the academy, including changing rooms and observation space. Lots of parking as well, and located conveniently at the SW corner of 15 Mile & Mound, in Sterling Heights. Master Kaz is a Master, google him! This is a great place for your child to learn karate. Training is recommends 2/week, and payment is easy, whether you choose to pay monthly or longer. CC accepted. Master Kaz will treat you and your child like family!

The manager came right over and introduced herself and our son joined the session. She was friendly and she informed us about the outdoor classes due to COVID-19 and we signed our son up on the spot. After about four sessions I noticed that our son was spending an accumulated forty-five minutes waiting in line to do the movements that the instructors were having him do. For $110 per month I was hoping for him to be much more active. The pillars listed on their website are self-esteem, discipline, focus, respect, & fitness. There wasn't enough activity for them to hit the pillar of fitness. So, we canceled the membership. They had too many kids and not enough instructors. They did other things like playing dodgeball and carrying punching bags to and from a marker, which were good activities, but I can't get over the lack of activity for most of the sixty-minute sessions. The owner had a group of teenagers and he was doing synchronized kicks and punches with them during these one hour sessions and that looked awesome. But, the kids in my son's group were getting the shaft. I understand the importance of teaching good technique, which the instructors were doing well, but if you have young kids who have trouble doing jumping jacks with good form then it is likely that they won't be able to do kicks and punches with good form. It would have been much better to have them do five-minute routines that included various movements like punches, kicks, squats, burpees, push-ups, lunges, etc. I gave three stars because the manager was kind and personable and the instruction was good and they refunded us the $110 for the next month after we had cancelled during the previous month. But, for my money I would rather have my son do something where he is almost constantly moving.
