I left the store last night extremely unhappy. To make a long story short, I flat out said that I hated how my hair looked and the stylist didn't even say anything about it or look for a way to fix it - just went to the register.
I had pretty long, curly hair that was getting a little hard to manage. I made an appointment and asked for wash/cut/style. I told the stylist that I wanted it to fall below my shoulders when curly. She held it out and located that point and was about to start the haircut when I asked if I could get a wash first. She was visibly annoyed at this, but off we went.
The whole time she made no attempt at small talk or anything. Just felt standoffish and uncomfortable. She parted my hair right down the center even though I told her I never wear it that way. When I saw my hair before she styled it, I was nervous - it seemed way too short. Then she styled it - just blow dried it, no product or anything, turned me towards the mirror and my face just fell. It was so much shorter than what I asked for - just above my shoulders, and since my hair is curly, it will be far shorter when styled naturally. I asked if she could straighten it, because i hated it, and was told that would be extra, so I declined - I was already disappointed, and didn't need to shell out more money for it. I said that I hated it and she just walked to the register - no questions about what I didn't like, no suggestions for how to fix it. The layers looked OK, but I would never style my hair the way she had, and I was really worried about what my hair would look like when I styled it myself.
As an added bonus, when I got to the register I noticed that her fingernails were disgusting. If I had noticed before I started I wouldn't have let her touch my head level gross.
I did straighten it when I got home. It just barely touches my shoulders when straight. It's about four inches shorter than what I asked for, and I doubt I will ever wear it curly because I don't like my hair short, and it will be another 2 inches shorter when it curls. The layers look weird and don't work with the side part I normally wear. I have never been this upset about a haircut before and I have never had a stylist care less about the quality of their work. read more
