My parents believed that starting taekwondo at an early age would build my self control, confidence and could be a good past in my college application for getting a black belt. At first my dad showed me a video I really wanted to do it because it looked fun. Then when I got my first white belt I was very happy. Ever since then I have loved taekwondo because you learn a lot of things like kicks, forms, and get new belts so you can build your way to black belt. Sometimes you even get to play games at the end of class because of your hard work. Later after about 4 years, I gained more friends and I started to realize that not everything is easy in life. I used to want to quit but I'm happy that I didn't because I gave up too easy and I thought of the wrong choices. Now I know that if I wanted to accomplish my black belt I needed to work hard. September 24 2026 was the day I finally got a black belt. I was very scared but also very happy because 6 years of hard work is a long time and I have been waiting for that moment. Samuel's journey to black belt…read more I started as a white belt at this Dojo and immediately i fell in love with taekwondo because here I could learn a bunch of new workouts and kicks and learn to be a black belt. At white and high white belt, i learned Korean numbers 1-8 and I started learning stances such as, horseback riding stance, forward stance and back stance. At yellow and high yellow belt I started to learn a lot more forms and kicks and stances. It was starting to get tough but I really wanted to be a black belt just like I see all the instructors are, so From green all the way to red belt, I committed to taekwondo and did the same routine every day, and I started to notice that when i did my sit-ups, back-ups and push-ups they started to feel lighter and easier and that is what I told the instructors and they said, Its because your putting in the effort and committing into coming to taekwondo class without giving up. When i reached high red belt, I was happy because I was 2 belts away from black belt but then I stopped coming frequently because it was starting to get boring doing the same thing every day, but I thought to myself, why would I push myself this far and yet stopped coming, so I started coming when to grading did white through red belt forms and then I did my high red belt and because I was so focused and determined to get my deputy black belt I got it and moved up to the next rank. At deputy black belt, it was much much harder than all the other belts i had completed because in this belt since you would test for black belt they would correct you for every single mistake you made to your kicks and especially stances but I knew if i wanted to get my black belt I needed to commit to it. I had to go to every single lower-belt class and it was tiring, after that I started on perfecting my 5 kicks for graduation. Tornado kick, roundhouse kick,sidekick, reverse turn axe kick,and jump side kick. So i commited and came everyday and was finally ready for testing. During testing when i finished 4 of my kicks and i was on my final one jump sidekick. Sir grandmaster Atoun told me to jump over 4 people and in my brain I had self-doubt but he told me if I doubt you I'm going to hurt myself so i jumped in the air while the cameraman was taking pictures of me in the air and i broke my wooden board while not hurting myself. I got my black belt and was really happy that I got it after 5 years. If you go once a week, you'll get once a week value. If you go more, then you'll get more for your investment and see a faster development of skill. Every business can improve, and Tiger Rock is not immune to benefit from a tweak here or there. For example, they really need to pro-rate months like December when they're closed for two weeks. At the end of the trial, Miss Henley rushed my husband as he was leaving class and pushed him to sign a "renewal" agreement without ever disclosing it was a legally binding 1-year contract.Due to a family relocation, a newborn baby, and sharing one vehicle, it became impossible for our child to attend. When we physically went to the facility to request a cancellation, the staff clearly ignored us being present, rudely claiming they were "too busy in class" to speak with us. When they finally addressed us, they brushed us off entirely and claimed that their third-party billing platform, ZenPlanner, was their official cancellation partner and that we had to handle it through them.All of a sudden, the story completely changed. She informed us that they are no longer with ZenPlanner, and suddenly she magically had the power to cancel it himself--but only if we paid the remaining contract balance in full! To make matters even more dishonest, they keep shifting their own rules to convenience themselves: their earlier emails explicitly stated that a relocation distance of over 20 miles qualified for cancellation, but they arbitrarily changed that requirement to 25 miles just to reject our request and trap us.Despite our child not stepping foot in the facility for nearly 6 months, they relentlessly auto-deducted tuition and forced us to pay out a massive fee for the rest of the year just to be released. They show zero empathy for local families, ignore you when you stand in front of them, and constantly change their policies to force you into a financial chokehold. Do not trust their "trial" offers or their word!

took me a while to finally write a review! read this for a genuine review from a former decade long…read moremember here. i was with the white tiger family for a very long time, went from white belt to a 2nd dan black belt here and then went off to do tkd at the collegiate level afterwards. i think the best part of white tiger overall for me has always been the people there. just such caring instructors and staff and some of my best friends (even to this day), have been made on the mat. also, some of the most fun trips i've ever done have come out of taekwondo too, from new york, austin, seattle, and miami to the kukkiwon headquarters in korea. so many experiences come from the tournaments and detours you'll take as a tkd athlete in life. in general, white tiger has always excelled in teaching poomsae (tkd forms) as well as in tkd demonstration. it's also a very well connected school in terms of the broader network of tkd schools and masters. as such, there's lots of opportunities to participate in fun tournaments and events and really level up your skills. i genuinely think it's worth it for anyone interested to give it a shot and, who knows, it might just become one of the most memorable things you do in your life. just like it was for me! :)
