As a student of CIKA you will be challenged in areas pertinent to your area of training. You will train at your own pace in an atmosphere conducive to bringing out your best. We will not insult you with fancy titles, which for the most part is invented, given to one another to impress, and has no significant value. Titles do not teach students the art; hard work, dedication and desire by both student and instructors will. If you are looking for fancy titles, glittery dojos, a social club, high prices, contracts, and a belt handed to you every three months, then CIKA is not the place for you; however, if you're looking to learn a traditional martial art, and you are willing to put forth the dedication, hard work and desire, then perhaps CIKA is your martial arts training center. Remember, anyone can wear a black belt for a price in any amount of time, but not just anyone can earn a real one. At CIKA every belt you receive you will have earned . . . the old-fashioned way.

This facility looks great from the front (the storefront has 3 doors), making it look like a really big facility., however when you enter the facility, there is no one working at the front desk. The room to the side (on the right) is a padded room, where the pads do not even look like it meant to fit in that room) and is used for a Muay Thai class. you go through a set of doors behind the front desk and you are greeted by an unfinished looking gym where it is concrete and a loading dock door. It is very messy looking, and on the side is a small set of Mats where the jiu jitsu class was taking place. I don't remember the name of the instructor, however when i told him that my kids have had experience in the past, he brushed it off. When the class was over, my 2 daughters left saying they never wanted to go back because the instructor told one of the ladies on the side saying that there is no way that these girls have experience...in front of my girls (ages 10 and 13). that is very disrespectful. When they left, the instructor didn't even apologize for it. Just noted that when I tell someone that they are experienced in the future, that it should mean they know how to train properly. (on a side note), you can tell that this was not a real gym by the fact there was only 1 other child in the class (other than the instructors own kids). A little class, patience and respect goes a long way. This instructor definitely needs to understand that going forward if they plan on growing their business.

I love the group fitness classes and I love that you reserve your spot in advance. They also just started a new Core Tone Reform class with reformers for regular members, and that class kicks your butt! I also really enjoy the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzis. Another benefit is the kids membership. My stepdaughter loves coming to the kids club for gymnastics, rock climbing, yoga, and more. I know that she is having fun while I'm doing a class. They have Parents Night Out on the weekends and that's such a nice perk! There's also day camps, which has saved us a few times when we needed child care during a school break. The pool is also wonderful in the summertime. The cafe food is average. I'd love it if the quality was amped up just a bit. The only thing I really ever get is the vegan PB& B shake. It's delicious!
