Service- 4 Jamie (my masseuse) was EXCELLENT and gets a 5! My mom felt that she got shorted for time by her masseuse (she couldn't remember her name). She says she was very nice, and gave a decent massage, but gave her a 3.5 as she was waiting in the relaxation area for me when I finished. She was on the chase, reading a magazine, and drinking her herbal tea as if she'd been there for a while. When we compared notes JAMIE totally won! Donna gave great customer service and was helpful, even though we either interrupted her balancing her checkbook or cleaning out her purse when we got to the front desk to pay and check out. (4 rating) Facility- 3 We were underwhelmed by the amenities as the steam room was out of service, the "whirlpool" was more like a luke warm jacuzzi outside of the children's area. We walked past the children playing foosball and ping pong in our spa robes. When we arrived, one jacuzzi worked, and the other was out of order. The pool attendant was called and couldn't get it to work. Our time in the jacuzzi was cut short as rocks were either falling from the roof or they were being thrown-- we're not sure, but after about 5 minutes of that, we took off! Ambiance & Cleanliness- 3.5 Clean and relaxing. Great supply of teas, granola, lemon water, cucumber eye towels, and the usual! Nothing stood out as stellar. Overall, we left the HB Spa underwhelmed and went to the beach, but mom says we haven't given up on ol' Salamander yet. We'll try others and let you know!

Three of us booked massages with three different therapists. When you walk in, it smells like chlorine (from the indoor pool down the hall, and sweaty feet. You'd think at least one of us would luck out, right? Nope. We all walked out looking at each other like: "Was that the worst massage you've ever recieved?" My therapist's "technique" was basically a housecat tiptoeing across my back. Zero pressure. Negative pressure. I left tenser than when I came in. At one point, she almost put me in a UFC chokehold while "massaging" my neck. Nothing says "relaxation" like fearing for your airway. The grand finale? She rubbed my feet (okay...) and then--without missing a beat--went straight to massaging my FACE. I'm sorry, what?! All three of us agreed: hands down the worst massage we've ever had. Ever. I wouldn't recommend this spa to my worst enemy, unless that enemy deserved an afternoon of confusion, discomfort, and lingering regret. Final verdict: Stay far, FAR away. Book literally anywhere else. Heck, let your toddler walk on your back--it'll be more effective, and definitely less weird.

Most people do not understand how weekly massages helps keep you healthy and can promote faster healing for aging and injuries, when combined other contributors. I was told I could not get better, but only worse and the degeneration would eventually require surgery. This month I am being discharged from physical therapy at Mayo Clinic. At one point I had to spend several months using a cane, walking sticks and at times, even a wheelchair. If you do the research, you will see how science supports what happened to me: Mayo Clinic describes neuromuscular massage as: "Specialized manipulation of muscles, tissues and joints that increases circulation, rids the body of harmful toxins, boosts the immune system, soothes aching muscles, reduce pain, and decreases stress and swelling." For over 30 yrs. Joanne has dedicated her life and a career with a love of massage and healing. She is the first therapist I have had that I totally have faith in and I have have around a dozen therapists for long term treatments. If you are looking for deep, painful treatments, go someplace else. Her style combines a firm touch with therapeutic maneuvers I do not fully understand, but I reap the benefits of less pain and more freedom that gets progressively better all the time. I also do believe that JoAnn is especially gifted in what she does, professionally and spiritually. Obviously, if you are an atheist, you can just ignore the last comment.

Looking forward to trying MTC out. I've had all different types of massage in the past but now that…read moreI'm older, I require more deep massage.
