I was told I could not get better, but only worse and the degeneration would eventually require surgery. This month I am being discharged from physical therapy at Mayo Clinic. At one point I had to spend several months using a cane, walking sticks and at times, even a wheelchair. If you do the research, you will see how science supports what happened to me: Mayo Clinic describes neuromuscular massage as: "Specialized manipulation of muscles, tissues and joints that increases circulation, rids the body of harmful toxins, boosts the immune system, soothes aching muscles, reduce pain, and decreases stress and swelling." For over 30 yrs. Joanne has dedicated her life and a career with a love of massage and healing. She is the first therapist I have had that I totally have faith in and I have have around a dozen therapists for long term treatments. If you are looking for deep, painful treatments, go someplace else. Her style combines a firm touch with therapeutic maneuvers I do not fully understand, but I reap the benefits of less pain and more freedom that gets progressively better all the time. The location of the place is in a doctor's office near Flagler Hospital, which means the place is clean and well kept. The massage itself was in a small but cozy room in the offices. The room was setup perfectly for relaxation, which is what I needed. As for the massage itself, it was top notch. Megan, the therapist who did my massage, really knows what she is doing. She communicated well the whole time. Asking me what I wanted to get out of the massage, how the amount of pressure felt to me, and the like. Since I was a new client and new to St Augustine, we chatted for a bit during the massage. She was very friendly and made me feel right at home. I told her I mainly came for a relaxing massage, but that if she found knots or kinks, to go ahead and work them out. She delivered just as I asked. By the end of the massage I was super relaxed, but I could also tell she did a good amount of deep muscle work; which my body really must have needed, because I felt like a million bucks after it was all said and done. She was super intuitive and seemed to know just where I needed the most work and just how to loosen everything up. Megan is a great massage therapist. Overall, this place is great! She makes the best cheese plates in the afternoons for happy hour and the BEST omelettes for breakfast. By the way, breakfast and happy hour is included with your stay. Everything is made to order and the spreads are always incredible. One of the best perks about the Inn! It's romantic and relaxing all rolled into one vacation. The customer service from each lady at the Inn is outstanding. They truly care about your vacation and constantly check in to make sure you're more than happy with your stay. Heather even made hot tea for my husband one day and brought it out to him by the pool. So kind. Our air conditioner had an issue one night and we were promptly given a key to another room where we could sleep for the night. Heather had maintenance out the next morning and the issue was taken care of quickly. We have stayed in the Flamingo room and the Serenity room all times we've been here. These are the only two rooms located in the spa building and the heated mineral pool is right outside their doors. We love The White Orchid Inn and Spa and already look forward to the day when we return. The ladies really made our trip special this time around and we are grateful for that.
