"Caveat Emptor" Went to Fix-It with Fred for a needed oil change and the air conditioner was…read moreblowing warm air. Dropped the car off told them the problems and mentioned, when braking, the car pulled a little to the left. Later they called with a diagnostic fee which seemed a little high but wanted it fixed. Someone called back the next day told me they had changed the oil and recharged the air conditioning and found leaks at both Schrader valves which they replaced (part of the diagnostic fee I imagine) and I needed $2000 worth of brake work, (front pads and rotors, rear shoes and drums, front calipers, BG brake system service). My response was, "that is a third of what the car was worth, put it back together and the car will be picked up. A total of $2875.81 of work and parts were declined by me. " Just to be on the safe side, two weeks later the same vehicle was taken to another auto repair shop to have the brakes checked, their receipt says "Inspect brakes, approximately 50% -OK". The brakes are working fine. There is probably a large gap as to what is needed for vehicle repairs and what the manufacturers suggests and how much money you have.

I called around and found Dave's Transmission in Canton - they fixed what was wrong for $170!!! PRAISE GOD! If you ever need work done on your car I would highly recommend Dave's Transmission - they do more than just transmissions and they are honest people who know how to do things right! It's too bad some other places just like to rip people off!

I did not have them perform the work as the estimate was way over what it should have been. Plus wasn't even doing the timing belt. Anyways...STAY CLEAR ! Total rip off. They were very easy to work with, and completed the inspection very quickly. It was extremely thorough, including a road test, tire/brake/rotor checks, transmission fluids, etc. Josh also took pictures of any issues with the car and quoted prices on a repairs, which I was able to use at a bargaining tool. The price of the inspection was on the high side ($275 including tax) which is about $125 more than the national inspection companies but it was a much more thorough inspection. Wouldn't hesitate to use Layland Motors again and highly recommend their service.

I called and explained what was going on with my daughter's car. Jason was super friendly and knowledgeable and knew exactly what was wrong. I scheduled an appointment to have the muffler repaired, rear brakes done and ended up having them replace the headlight bulb that decided to burn out the day before the appointment. Drop off was a breeze. I was called within two hours with a quote and he explained very thoroughly what issues he found with the car. He advised me of some items that will need attention in the near future, but that they didn't need done immediately. That honesty was appreciated and goes a long way. The work was done at a very fair price and my car was ready within a few hours. What I appreciated most about them was their efficiency with getting the work done, at a fair price and that they didn't try to take advantage of me because I'm a female. I will absolutely bring my cars to them anytime it's needed, in the future. I don't see myself using another mechanic from now on.

They put my car up on the rack and showed me what needed to be done. I know nothing about car repairs so forgive me if I'm saying this wrong...the flange had separated from the catalytic converter and was able to be repaired for $80. He also showed me 4-5 brackets that were very worn and welded those at no extra charge. Then to top it off, just as they finished with my car, it started raining heavily and they back my car into the garage so that I didn't have to go out in the rain. Great guys, great business! I highly recommend the Thrifty Muffler on Erie in Massillon.
