I found her Bradley Birthing Course to be informative and reassuring. I wanted to try natural childbirth, kinda like I've always wanted to try skydiving. It sounds scary, but lots of people have tried it and survived, right? Now if I'd have showed up for skydiving class and the instructor had told me to just trust the process and let go, I would have bailed. Same goes with a childbirth class. I wanted details, people, details! I needed to know what I could do to prepare, how to could deal with the pain, all that could possibly go wrong... I needed to confront my deepest fears about childbirth and come out with the determination to pull through. I got to do all that and more with Ginny. I appreciated her directness, candor, humor, and, of course, her willingness to repeat herself over and over (I suffered from some pretty severe pregnancy brain, which has since been eclipsed by even more debilitating mommy brain. Doh!) When it came time to decide whether or not to have a doula, my husband and I were on the fence. In the end, we figured it couldn't hurt, so we might as well. Rather than start interviewing people, we asked Ginny and she said yes. Now even though we liked Ginny and trusted that she knew her stuff, we weren't particularly bonded to her or anything. I had my reservations. All the doulas I'd seen on YouTube were pretty brawny. Ginny, on the other hand, was built like a pixie. I could crush this woman if so much as thought about leaning on her- or so I thought. You know how Shakespeare wrote "And though she be but little, she is fierce"?
