Before buying he Eversave voucher I read the reviews. Seemed like booking was an issue for many, so I checked online booking before my purchase. There was, coincidentally, one available time that worked for me but I noticed, at least with the owner Jessica, that there were times in April total and then nothing else available until well after the voucher expired. I didn't check the dates for the other therapists, so there might have been more availablity there and I was specifically looking for 90-min deep tissue massages so that might have narrowed the available dates. I had something else at the time of this appt, but it was somethign that was easily rescheduled so I took the only available weekend appointment (April 7 at noon) and rescheduled my other thing. A day or so before my appt I got an email asking if I could possibly come later because of a scheduling issue ("overlap via another therapist"). I could not because of my own schedule, so I suggested that I could some early. It was agreed that I would come at 11. I didn't have an intial email reminder (I had an online confirm that I copied and pasted to my calendar so I didnt' look for it either until later - see below - and the updated reminded had a start time but not an end time - also relevant later.) The waiting space is less spa and more office, which, whatever, I'm not there for a lush waiting room. There is no receptionist or anything so if you arrive and there is a door closed please show some courtesy and remain quiet until it is your turn. The therapy room is quaint, like a tiny bedroom, and the atmosphere is relaxing. I did notice at one point during my massage that the music was *very* Christian which would not be my preference but I don't know if that was the therapists choice or if it was just Pandora doing what Pandora sometimes does when you like one song so whatever. The massage, itself, was excellent. It is difficult to find therpists who do quality deep tissue work but Jessica Bissionette is on her game. Assuming you think the price is right for you and you can actually get the appointment you want, if you're in the area, this might be the therpist for you if you like really deep work. I noticed she asked me to flip over sooner than I had expected, but she was doing her thing and I don't necessarily need exactly 45 minutes on each side so I shrugged it off. However, at promptly 12, she stated I was done and walked out. It seemed short, but it took me a minute to really get my bearing and take in the time. I didn't feel cheated, I was just confused. I called for her but she must have gone to the ladies room so I waited and called some more. Eventually she came back and was surprised I was not dressed and ready to leave. I pointed out the time and figured she had not noticed and made a mistake but she stated I was only booked for an hour. After I was dressed she came back in and proceeded to explain to me why she could not have possibly made a mistake and this scheduling issue was entirely my fault unless I could prove otherwise. Um. WHAT? Note that I actually wrote the two paragraphs of this review a MONTH AGO as they happened, so I'm not dealing with poor memory or the like, HOWEVER, even if I was, even if this was entirely my fault (which is wasn't), taking that much time to explain to me why she can't possibly be wrong was in exceptionally tacky and unacceptable. Had she merely said something like "I'm not sure what happened but I'll be in tuch and we'll work about a fair resolution," I'd have gone about my day without having been annoyed and been fine. Later in the day I received an apology for the error, which had it ended there would have resolved all of my issues, but, instead, it proceeded to reiterate how the mistake couldn't possibly have been on their end. The resolutions offered were: a) come back for a 30 minute massage another time - I am at least 30 minutes away and I find 60 minutes to be too short so... no. b) come back and book a 60 minute massage and get the extra 30 added on - I already pay $85 for a 90 minute massage for an EXCELLENT therapist that never has any scheduling issues closer to my house that alwasy has superb customer service (see my other massage reviews!) so ... no. or c) She'll refund me $10 because Eversave only gives her half of the voucher price. I decided since my purchase was with Eversave, I'd turn to them for remediation for the difference between vouchers. Their response was more than I'd expected and I'm grateful for their excellent customer service. So, in short. 5 star massage but at high end prices in a low end venue. 1 star customer service. read more

After purchasing a Buywithme coupon for 2 visits, I had such a hard time making an appointment (there were limited slots available and they were all very far in advance). I thought I booked an appointment for a certain day and sent my boyfriend down there, he was told they overbooked and to rebook. I do not know if it was an error on my part or on their side but we were "reminded" of an appointment that we had not booked, and by the time I called it was too late to cancel. I emailed with Jessica asking what our options were, and by the time she got back to me it was after the appointment time and I was told we would lose the coupon amount for one massage. If that was the case and she got back to me before the massage time I probably would have left work to take it instead of losing the coupon. I then informed Jessica that I had emailed Buywithme and they were able to give me a credit for the coupon and I would no longer be needing her services. She then informed me that she would be contacting Buywithme to tell me that the error was my fault and I did not deserve a credit. This is my first negative review on Yelp, I'm sure the massages are great, but the attitude and appointment inconvenience was not worth my trouble. I will go to the Cortiva massage institute in Watertown for a $30 1 hour massage (if you book online), and they always have slots available. read more

If I could give Massage Therapy Boston ZERO stars, I would - or at least that is what I would give to its owner, Jessica. She has no business running a business, and in my mind is nothing better than a common scam artist. I was given two vouchers to Massage Therapy Boston for my birthday, and was really looking forward to using them. When the time came to book my appointments, there were instructions on her website to book through a special button for Buy With Me customers. Little did I know that this would take me into appointment-scheduling Hell... there were NO appointments available until January (I was trying to book for the end of June/early July)... I emailed Jessica asking for her help. She emailed me back that one of the problems was because she had decided not to offer Hot Stone Massage for the entire summer (which was a problem, since the BWM certificates were for either Hot Stone or Swedish Massage only). She then went on to tell me that she would allow me to use my vouchers for either a Sports Massage or a Deep Tissue Massage as an alternative, and acknowledged that appointments were limited and therefore she would allow me to use the vouchers well into the end of August (I have this in writing from her). But after I booked these two appointments, I was then told by Jessica only several days before the appointment dates that they would not be honored!?! When I asked her to please hold to the agreement she had made with me and honor the re-booked appointments (I even sent her a copy of the email she had sent me in which she specifically told me to schedule them this way and at this time), I was treated incredibly rudely by Jessica - she basically told me to go pound sand. She said it was not her problem to deal with, and that I should take it up with Buy With Me. Well, we did just that. Buy With Me was **appalled** to hear that she violated the agreement (first by not offering one of the options that the vouchers were sold for - the Hot Stone Massage, and secondly for going back on her written word to honor the vouchers past the expiration date, thereby falsely leading me to believe I could still redeem them and then later telling me I could not). Buy With Me refunded my brother his original purchase price, and they will be pursuing this further directly with Jessica and Massage Therapy Boston (I expect she may be giving away a lot of refunds in the near future). If you want a good massage in the Newton/Watertown area - call Cortiva School in Watertown - you can book a one-hour massage with a student in their clinic and they are wonderful and extremely professional. I went here on a buywithme and it was a great deal. I can give you some straightforward pros and cons though. Cons first: (1) Other reviewers are correct - this place is in a dingy Newton basement and there are 2 neighboring massage places, so it's really easy to miss. (2) It was insanely annoying booking the appointment. Apparently they filled up the schedule almost immediately once the buywithme came out, but still - I couldn't get an appointment for almost 6 weeks after I got the buywithme. I don't remember the exact timeline, but I was definitely irritated about that. Pros: GREAT MASSAGE! So yea, the pro outweighs the cons. The masseuse (I wish I remembered her name, but the most I can give you is that it was not the Jessica the other reviewers talk about), was really good. I got a deep tissue massage and had specific muscles that needed work. She really listened to me and took care of the pain I was having. Definitely sped up my half marathon recovery. After the massage she gave me more time where we discussed the problem areas and what her opinion was of what was going on with those muscles. It was really helpful and she knew her stuff. I was happy with the service itself. Final rundown - if you're looking for the all-around spa experience, you won't be very impressed. If you're more concerned with getting a good massage from a knowledgeable massage therapist, and don't mind a "dingy newton basement," then you should check this place out. read more

I'm a dancer, and I started going to Jessica for abdominal scar tissue release therapy because the scar tissue was restricting my core movement. I cannot rave about her enough. Each session she makes frankly miraculous strides in detaching my long scar from the muscles and bone beneath. With her 'seeing hands' and deep knowledge, she also identifies, and works on, knotted muscle attachments, tension and misalignment that can be a secondary effect of restricted movement. The result is noticeably improved alignment, flexibility, range of motion, and physical comfort - more than I ever dreamt possible. Even better, she is a delightful person. If there was a 0 star option, it would be that... I had a buywithme coupon and was next to impossible to use. I had about 11 days until expirtation date. I called an was told I had to book online. I tired to , and was available almost 24/7 as I am not working now, yet no luck. I called her back and told her that , and she said that I could book for another (read, less costly) service) than what I had paid for. Even THAT wasn't available. She then said she'd extend it, and still there was nothing. In a word, designed to fail! i called BUYWITHME and they were appalled, and refunded me. This was an incredible deep tissue massage! I had a skiing accident in 2002 that left me with whiplash. I did physical therapy at the time and live most days without any serious pain but my neck and shoulders are always tight. I also have lingering inflammation and tightness in my lower back from a more recent injury which I have also spent significant time rehabbing. Jessica was sensitive to these injuries and spent extra time on the spots working to really release the knots and tension. I walked out of the office feeling significantly better than when I entered. It has been a few days and I am still feeling relief. Furthermore, when I was leaving she spent extra time answering questions for me and explaining how she would be able to help in further sessions. She also explained that I didn't need to book a whole 90 minute massage in order to continue progress -- a 30 minute session to hit the spots that really needed it would be enough. I appreciated that she didn't try to book any at the time. Her work was all the sales pitch I needed. I will certainly book another massage with her. I had terrible headaches/jaw and neck tension from bruxism and TMJ issues for several years. I had done everything (including regular yoga, dental specialists, orthodontists, massages at fancy spas, even Botox injections) but it wasn't until I was referred to Jessica Bissonnette that I finally experienced some real relief! I did not like the hot stone massage I had here. I asked them to concentrate on my back, and the majority of my massage was on the front of my neck/chest!! I have never even been massaged in these places. It was bizarre. I couldn't wait for my massage to end- what a waste of money. There is also no entrance, receptionist, nothing. I awkwardly walked into another company's business meeting. There should be clearer directions to get into this dungeon. It is also lacking in appearance. I having been having massages with Jessica for a few years now and what a difference it has made. She is incredibly talented and knowledgeable about "bad" backs! I used to go once every few months but now I go every 3-4 weeks. Jessica is better than any pain medication I could ever take for my back. Booking an appointment is very easy. I email her and ask for certain days and she gives me her availability. If you want to chat, she will and if you want quiet, she gets that too. It's true. When you enter the building at 701 Washington it's bare, dimly lit and not the most welcoming place. This is no high end spa. But when you walk down to the lower level Jessica has the area set up cutely and it's clean with some nice music playing. It was blustery outside when I arrived so crawling on to the heated massage bed was spot-on. I went with my husband because we got the coupons (buywithme I think) so that's the only reason we'd travel to Newton from Weymouth...and I can't wait to go back, even though there are tons of places on the South Shore near my house. The massage was 1.5 hours long and it was by far the most effective, most relaxing massage I've ever had. I chatted with Jessica (the massage therapist) a bit about what she was doing- she's very sweet, professional and as far as I can tell knows her stuff. She's a hardcore massage therapist and I was totally comfortable with her. It was kind of like getting a massage from a good friend (but if you want silence during a massage to relax more deeply that's definitely possible - I was the one initiating the conversation). She even massaged my face. I've never had that before and WOW, I had no idea how much I was missing. From my toes to the crown of my head everything was massaged and the tension was released. I don't have chronic pain issues (but a lot of tightness/soreness from lifting as well as sitting-at-a-desk-all-day pain). If you want to pay $150 to have someone pour rose scented water on your feet and let you wear a bathrobe for 5 minutes then this isn't the place for you. If you want to pay a true professional, who loves her art (and science!), a fair price for an extraordinary massage that will soothe your body and relieve your mind then I can't recommend Jessica and her massage studio enough. read more

I went to see Jessica last night after receiving a less-than-stellar treatment from another business. Having sustained an injury to my shoulder, I went to see Jessica in hopes of getting rid of some of the tightness and pain I had been experienced and she did a wonderful job. There were no issues experienced in booking as described by others, and Jessica was extremely friendly and helpful upon my arrival. The atmosphere may not look like much, and it is far from a spa-like atmosphere, but the moment you enter the treatment room, you will be lying face-down in a face cradle with your eyes closed. I highly recommend Jessica without hesitation for any sort of work you are looking to have done. read more

I think it tops all other swedish massages i have ever had. she has the most perfect touch - just the right amount of pressure to make all your nerves tingle with happiness. to add to this great touch she has, Jessica also has a great energy, kind of earth mother-y and warm. this feeling comes through during the massage - some therapists can seem distracted, or like they are just going through the motions or rushing, but Jessica seems to operate in the moment and you can actually feel the care in her touch. highly recommend. read more

I am kind of sensitive to too much pressure so asked her for avoid deep tissue methods. Jessica's massage business is downstairs in a small office building near Whole Foods on Washington Street. I first went when some of the "deals" were popular (which turned out not to work so well for many businesses). During that time I had massages both with Jessica and another therapist (now moved). I have continued to see Jessica regularly. She is great at addressing specific issues, and will work to get people in if there is an injury or an important need - in fact a lot of her clients seem to have injuries that she works with on an ongoing basis. Jessica is a great masseuse and I would highly recommend her. I find her little suite friendly and homey but wanted to mention that if you are looking for spa "frills" that isn't what she is focused on. read more

Jessica is soooo nice. I would give her personality and customer service 5 stars for sure... but sadly the massage was not the best I've had. It pains me to say it, because she is a GREAT person, but I have to tell the truth in a review. Luckily there are many other reviews from other people that say her massage was awesome, so only take my word as a grain of salt since I am only one person, just one opinion. She looked young, but was very friendly. I had my free chair massage from Jessica... it felt great! I decided I would book with Jessica when I could finally use my voucher. I ended up having to email many times trying to find a time I could go that she had available. Jessica was very good about calling me back every time, and emailing me when she had cancellations in her schedule. I ended up booking through the online web scheduler, which was relatively hassle-free. I was looking forward to the 90-minute massage because I liked the chair massage so much. And I already knew what to expect cuz I had been there for the open house so I wasn't confused by the lack of clear sign outside and the narrow staircase to get downstairs to find her. The massage hurt in a lot of places. I knew I was very tight and had a lot of knots. I told myself to just let her do her thing, cuz she's the professional and knows what she is doing. I had tightness in places I didn't know I had tightness. I got through it. She said I did a good job getting through it cuz I had so many tight knots. I thought that by getting through it, I would feel much better afterwards. Sadly, I did not. There was no change in how I felt. I had talked with a friend who went to massage therapy school about it, and she said that a good therapist will work your knots slowly and then increase pressure as you loosen up, such that it should never hurt. I still really like Jessica though. She's a very nice lady, a good business person, kind, knowledgeable. I would still recommend her. Everyone's experiences are different. I've been going to Jessica for almost two years now and she is wonderful! She is very aware of making her clients feel comfortable. She welcomes you but isn't too chatty. She senses in what mood you are in and she goes with the flow. She asks if she is pressing too hard and adjusts accordingly. She gives you suggestions on types of stretches that may help. There are times when I want to chat and she goes along. There are times where I just want to be a blob and she puts on music that sets the mood the client is in. She's helped me with my arms and feet and has done wonders! read more

Booking an appt is near impossible unless you do it a month in advance. Who knows a month in advance what their schedule is like? I had a gift certificate there that I couldnt even use because I didnt book my appointment in advance. If its that hard to get an appointment, maybe state that somewhere on the gift certificate. Caitlin did the massage and she was terrific! Very sweet and did a great job on the deep tissue massage. I will definitely be back. I started getting massages from Jessica once in a while as a treat, and then I injured my neck (just in my sleep!), and after my doctor recommended I get massages I started going regularly to reduce the tension and pain. My range of motion has increased tremendously, my pain has been GREATLY reduced, and I am truly on the mend. I can tell Jessica knows exactly what she's doing; she knows what muscles are causing the problem, how to treat them gently but effectively, and what I should be doing in between massages to maintain the gains made every week. I really don't know how my neck would be doing without the work she has done on it. I have seen many massage therapists over the years--some better than others. Jessica is the best I have encountered so far. She is professional, and has a gift with those hands. The office ambience is cozy and nurturing, I think. Well....why was the time slot open online then? I rescheduled for a later date (1 month later) b/c dates/times were very limited. The location is awful. I thought since it was Newton, it would be more of an upscale spa type place but to my surprise, it was a dingy basement office which did not resemble a spa or massage place at all. My massage was terrible as well. I had Caitlin and her touch was so light that it felt more like a regular back rub than anything else. I asked her to concentrate on my back and i left there just as achy as i went in, as she did not get any of the knots out of my back/neck. I have mixed reviews ... The massages I had - with Caitlin and Jillian - were great. They were both knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. However, I did have a frustrating experience with the BuyWithMe deal. I gave four vouchers as gifts, but the people were unable to use them because of scheduling issues. When I found out that the deal was expiring, I was left having to book six vouchers (the four plus two for myself) in a short time span. Although Jessica (I presume the owner) gave me two extra weeks to book, these times were filled and she was unwilling to extend it one more day (when there were openings). I was ultimately able to use five out of the six vouchers due to cancellations, but this was also difficult because I had few options and had to leave work in the middle of the day to make it work. I found the experience very frustrating - the owner argued that she had to pay these massages out of pocket when in fact I had paid for them. The website says that customer satisfaction is the number one goal but I did not have this impression. It was really too bad because the massages themselves were excellent. read more
