After having 2 foot surgeries in one year to correct my feet, I need a foot massage every once in a while to help with the pain that I was in from standing all day since I work at the mall. On my lunch hour, I would get the 15 minute foot massage, and it was done well enough. Today I have a foot massage I had a very rude woman assigned to do it. When I told her I needed a 15 minute massage she asked me why. When I explained to her that I work at the mall and it is my lunch hour and then I also had to eat lunch she stormed off and didn't bring back all of the equipment to do the massage properly. She was very rough on my feet and kind of slapped them around. Then when I went to pay, she pointed to a sign that said it was cash only for under $20, which it was never before. Since the massage was $18 and she was so rude to me I was not going to tip her, but when she went to hand me the change, she pointed to the sign as if she was telling me I had to tip! This place is a joke. I went in for a foot massage and didn't enjoy it not one bit. The man massaging me kept on scratching my heels with his fingers which I found so strange. 1 hour foot massage was $36 dollars so I figured I'd tip 20% just to be nice when in reality he didn't really deserve a tip. After I gave him his $7 tip he looked up at me and started to speak in a different language to his coworker and then said to me "for one hour massage tip is $10"!!!! I always love my massage experiences here. I always select the hour foot massage and it is so reguvinating. My only cautionary advice would be to ask them to not use super hot water to soak your feet in. If you tell them right away I am sure they will bring you the temperature that is more comfortable. I usually forget and then just endure the HOT water soak. The massage itself is heaven on earth. I would get one once a week if I could find the time. When we were paying our bill he expected me to give him a $5.00 tip for crap service. But it gets worse for me because when I woke up the next day my lower back hurt more then my neck did. My first time ever getting a massage. A friend and i was in the mall to do some light shopping. We randomly walked by this place and we walked in. Had no wait time we were helped immediately. We both got the hour full body massage. We were put in private booths? It seemed very clean. Like i said it was my first time getting a massage so i do not know how to rate a place. Just had a 1 hour journey into mediocre massage. Had BEN and he was a bundle of joy. Doesn't smile and definitely only knew 2 words of English. Where do they find these people? Too rough at times, and you could tell he was given a crash course. Shoulda listened to the myriad of reviews warning me. Amazing!!!! My two sisters and I received 30 min full body massages and 30 min foot massages. I'm a member of Massage Envy, a membership-based fee massage program, so I've had my share of massages. These men and women exemplify superior professionalism and a great knowledge of massage therapy. Firstly they were respectful and quiet. None of the therapists tried to "chat me up" nor were chatty with each other during our sessions which was greatly appreciated. Secondly, they are more therapeutic in 30 min than what most other massage therapists can accomplish in 90 min. When i came in, I was sufferring from back pain from horseback riding and driving for long hours as well as foot pain from walking in not very supportive shoes and sandals. The therapeutic effects were felt immediately. What also added a great touc to this experience were the complimentary foot washigs, neck hot packs, and warmed foot slippers. Just some forwarding, this is not a place for the modest. Though you keep your clothes on during the full body massage, expect them to work your bottom and back of your thighs. Again, they practice the utmost respect, but I understand some may feel shy about those areas. read more

Who knew a chair massage could feel so good. I come here during my lunch break when my back and neck are sore from working behind the computer all day. It doesn't matter what massage therapist I get because they all apply firm pressure (sometimes too firm) to work out all the pain and kinks. The price is reasonable. Every time I have had a massage here, I've left without the kinks and knots I came in with. My favorite is the 30 minute chair massage. I am lucky to get my favorite masseuse, Jin, much of the time (however, I've never had a bad masseuse here); she is very thorough and listens if you have a specific target area of tension and she just has the right amount of pressure for my preference. Also, it's a relief that I've never had to wait unless I've come in with a few friends and even then it wasn't more than 15 minutes. I like the newer location by Nordstrom better than their last location within the mall. I confess, I have come to the mall solely to get a massage here, that's how convenient and well-priced this massage place is; I recommend it the most for if you have a sudden nerve/muscle pain and just need a massage ASAP. read more

Then I find myself coming to this place more often then expected. I love deep tissue massage and they seem to know where the knots were and what parts. I've stopped in here twice, first time I had a full body massage - it was nice, professional and facility is clean. Attendant asked if pressure was good, etc. I think it was a good massage for the value but not a massage I'll think back on and remember as being super great. I had an hour massage at Hand and Stone in Pleasanton and drove here right away to Massage Journey right after to relieve the stress caused by my Hand and Stone experience. I booked a deep tissue massage at Hand and Stone Pleasanton and unfortunately the therapist did not know how to do deep tissue and was only capable of a Swedish. The Hand and Stone experience created much nerve tension in my back, Massage Journey came to my rescue. Joe was the therapist at Massage Journey and used elbows, trigger point therapy and deep long pressure to relieve all the tension. Was well worth the 30 minutes. Thank you. Thank you. My go-to destress when I am carrying tension in my shoulders. The first time I went I had one of the men work on my neck and back for a 30 minute chair massage and it was one of the best massages of my life! Really intense but just what I needed- actually got work done. I've been back probably an additional 3 or so times since and have gotten a woman each time. It hasn't been as intense or deep of a massage, but still worth it. I've only had to wait once for a few moments. I would suggest not going when you're really tired so you don't fall asleep (I fell asleep during a foot massage after a long weekend), and also Sunday nights seem to be the busiest. We were looking forward to a quick but relaxing chair massage and we only got one of those. Arrived and was promptly greeted and asked how long we wanted for the chair massage. We each went for the 30 minute massage for $25 and I immediately told the gentleman, please don't use a lot of pressure as I'm a big baby and he said ok. He starts out and right away, the pressure is way too hard. I gave it a little time thinking he'd feel me pushing back and tensing up but he wasn't reading the signs so I said can you please use less pressure. Again, he said ok. Starts back up and way too hard so I said for the THIRD time, even less pressure. Still not getting it dude so I said it one more time and he continues to dig in with his elbows. At this point, it was so uncomfortable I debated whether or not to just stop the massage. I toughed it out and suffered through the discomfort for the remainder of the massage. Ok, it's finally over and I get up and he was literally pushing so hard I had indents on my chest from my necklace. Paid and left. We get outside and I ask my sister, ok so am I just the biggest sissy or was your dude killing you with the pressure and she starts laughing and says, noooooo, my guy did the same thing and I was sweating waiting for it to be over and she said she heard me tell him 4 times to chill out. Lol! They need to first ask how's the pressure and read the clients signs but I truly don't think it'll matter because even after asking, he still kept at his pace. Ok, granted I have never had an actual massage at a spa so I don't have much to compare aside from the fact that I have been to another massage shop at a different mall twice, which pretty much sucked. This one felt good though, and although at times it hurt a little my neck and back did feel releived afterwards. I wish she worked on my arms more, but oh well next time I need to ask. The other place I went to massaged the whole body and had a massage table you lay down on, which I wish this place did, but oh well. The next day my back and neck were sort of sore, I can't explain it, it wasn't in a bad way, but not really good either. I wonder is this normal? I've been to massage journey a few times in the past after shopping at the mall and have always had a decent experience. Not a true massage experience, but gets the job done at working out the kinks. I did the same today and I had one of the most unprofessional experiences at a service establishment to date. I purchased a 30 minute full body and 30 minute foot massage for $44.00. After paying on my credit card, I asked the lady for change as they prefer the tip in cash. I pulled out a twenty dollar bill and asked for $12.00 cash back, leaving an $8.00 tip (just about 20% which is what I typically tip for average service). The lady was offended with my apparent cheapness as she said "you had an hour massage. One hour!" She then handed me a $10.00 bill back (tipping herself $2.00 more than what I told her I was tipping her), all the while complaining in Chinese under her breath. What she didn't know, is that I am full Chinese and understood what she said. "She had a ONE hour massage, my hands even hurt for rubbing so much". NEVER again will I be back! read more

I come here often for foot massage. Its great, clean, professional and the techs are great. The prices are reasonable and for the cleanliness and location compared to all the others I visited I don't mind paying and leaving a nice tip. Ive seen a lot of negative reviews which I could never support. I saw a couple walk in and immediately get mad and start being rude due to the language barrier. If you know what you want, don't mind working with the staff to explain it... they are all great people that work very hard all day. I've been getting massages many times in my life time, but this place by far was the worse experience I've ever had. I happened to be in the mall, saw Massage Journey and decided to get a 1/2 hr foot massage. There was only one guy chair massaging a client. He yelled, really loud, for someone to come. A lady came and I told her that I wanted 1/2 hr foot massage. Then she had another lady to come. Mind you, this whole time they're speaking their native language, Chinese?, with a loud tone which was very rude! From the get go, I told her that I wanted a more firm massage and she replied, "OK...OK...OK". It became apparent to me that she did not speak a word of English and my many requests of "firmer massage" which included partially sign language failed miserably! And every time she would say, "OK...OK...OK"! During this 30 min of frustration, I kept hoping for a little bit more squeeze on my poor tired feet. but noooo...no luck! I asked to speak with a manager. A guy came and I proceeded to tell him what the problem was but he said, "No Manager...No English" with a smirk on his face. Then a couple of other women came where I was sitting and started to talk among themselves and staring at me. At the end, as I was paying for what I didn't get and was extremely disappointed, frustrated and angry, the woman who supposedly massaged me, NOT, pointed to the frame on the wall behind the front desk which said, "TIP" and repeated tip, tip, tip! Oh really! Wow....that's amazing....she does speaks English! Hallelujah! The nerve... The next day, I called the place and got a phone number which apparently was the owner whose name was LISA. Lisa told me that she was going to talk to her employees and will get back to me. Seven days later, since I didn't hear from Lisa, I called her back and left a message. And again, for the third time, I called but no response. It was obvious that she had no intentions of calling me back. I would have given them no star; too bad the least I can rate them is 1 star and that's being generous! So, Here I am...If I were you, I'll be very careful to go to this place.
