Wendell was an amazing LMP! You have the whole place to yourself when you get a massage (at least…read morethe three times I went I did). This made it extra relaxing. Wendell listens to your needs and customizes the massage in accordance to the tension in your body. It's great to have someone that listens to what you want, but they should also be able to feel the tension in your body and know where to focus, which he was great at. He happily explained where my body was tight(besides my obvious area of pain), and explained what he was doing, which I found to be really interesting! I saw Wendell twice and Sarah once. Sarah didn't even tell me her name when I walked in so I went the entire time not even knowing her name. I didn't care enough to sign into my account to see or to ask.. I was in pain and just wanted some relief. I had to tell her multiple times to focus on my back but instead she chose to go over my arms and legs twice... The deep tissue massage felt more like a swedish and I left still in pain :(. She is good if you're looking for a basic swedish massage, but not if you're in pain and need any sort of specialized massage. I can't say I didn't leave her feeling more relaxed. It wasn't awful, it just didn't help me for what I came in for.

I love this place. I have been coming here for about 7 months for medical massage therapy. It's…read morevery tranquil and inviting and feels very comfortable when you walk in. The rooms smell so good with essential oils, music and trickling water in the background. The massages are great too. I have definitely found relief. For the poster A T., sometimes massage therapists ask for ID for their own personal safety and to have a record of their patients. This is not uncommon, especially when a therapist is working alone and/or at night. It's too bad you didn't feel comfortable with this, because you missed out on a great massage! I have had noting but positive experiences here, and the prices are reasonable. Love it!

If you are looking for a healer, Kim is your magician!…read more I was introduced to this incredible studio by a colleague/friend of mine, and she spoke very highly of Sukha Happens. Of course, me being a true yelper, searched and discovered many great reviews. It was then decided, I've got to schedule. The online scheduling process was extremely user friendly, and immediately sent an email confirmation with the details of my deep tissue massage appointment... I've been working heavily lately, so I knew I was in severe need of self care, my only hope was that Kim could help ease my physical discomfort. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment, the door was unlocked, and upon entry I noticed the cleanliness of the yoga studio, and the organization of the many products offered. In addition, there was the amazing scent of sage burning (spiritual satisfaction) so now my senses are heightened and anticipation is rising. A short moment later, out came Kim with a very bright smile and open arms. We had a great opportunity to briefly get to know one another prior to my treatment while also completing the registration. I told her what I needed her to focus on, and she made note of it. During my phenomenal treatment I was mentally taking back to childhood ages when I could float in the bath tub and all of my body was relaxed, a time where there was no pain, no hurt, no job, no bills, and certainly no stress... Needless to say, by the end of the massage, everywhere there was tension, was a sensation of relief. I am so grateful I got the chance to schedule with Kim. I'm am now, a regularly satisfied customer

Recently, I had the pleasure of returning back to Sukha not for a massage this visit, but for one…read moreof their fabulous workshops! Sandie, I wanted to thank you for your kind words about us here at Ascension. Your review is like gold to a small business. It's great clients like you that have made us what we are! Thank you again! Consider me a convert!…read more After a stressful few weeks I found myself on the prowl for a great massage. Being a little naive on the subject, (I was a massage virgin) I thought I'd do some research on Yelp. After seeing a few posts in the events section about stress control and meditation classes, I looked up the Ascension Wellness Center. Not only do they offer treatments of various kinds for both mind and body, they offer exactly what I was looking for... massages! Des Moines isn't exactly a hop skip and a jump from Seattle so I had to be convinced this place was great. After speaking with Jason, (who posted the events I'd seen) I was sold. And by 'sold' I mean I got naked in front of a stranger, sold! My appointment was with a lovely woman named Sonia. Before the actual massage we sat together and filled out the necessary paperwork. I discussed problem areas and she helped work out a customized massage plan for me. I sincerely felt like she listened to what I needed and wanted from the experience. I'd heard stories about how massages can hurt, how it can be a little awkward to be naked, etc. This was totally not so with Sonia. I felt I was in good hands. Literally! In addition to pampering myself with a massage I also tried a cleanse called Aqua Detox. Initially I feared that I'd signed myself up for a colonic. (See my Tummy Temple review!) It's essentially a foot soak where toxins are released through the pores in your feet. It was seriously crazy. I've never seen anything like it but the procedure itself was fascinating. So if you're looking for a spot to get your back rubbed and your nails and hair done - skip out on Ascension. If you're looking for a place where your health is at the center of attention, I'd recommend giving this place a shot. The people who work there are personable and attentive, the spa itself is clean and inviting and it's still a small enough operation where you feel like you're their only priority. Stay tuned - I think I'm headed back to try some meditation and hypnosis next time!

Well first I'm not one to leave reviews, I actually wasn't going to leave this one but I was on…read moreGroupon the other day and saw that she now suddenly has over 90 ratings almost all 5 star and a billion amazing reviews. However at the time of my service with holly she only had about 3 reviews but I guess I shouldn't have mentioned I'd be leaving a review when asking for the refund. So now I feel inclined to leave my honest review. The salon was not the neatest and the room was messy. The equipment was pretty outdated and this service didn't come with a wash which I was fine with. This was the worst haircut and highlights I've ever had. I was super clear about what I wanted, I asked for only an inch off of the length, some face framing pieces that were chin length and then just a few highlights to lighten up my hair. I was going on a birthday trip that week and also had interviews coming up. I cried when i saw my hair that day. I had to book an appointment last minute with another stylist to hopefully fix what happened. She cut so much off in the front that it looked like a mullet or a bowl cut. The pieces in front were cut so short. This resulted in me having to cut my hair short to fix the choppy pieces. She only put a few highlights on the top and nothing in the back so I had to go over it with box dye and go back to my regular hair color. After I sent her an email with photos of my hair and explaining how I had to get it fixed, She did give me a refund for the Groupon and apologized which I appreciate. I believe she should have paid for me having to go and get it fixed. She was a nice person but I don't understand how a trim and some face framing could get messed up so badly. I truly wish she would have just told me she couldn't do it. I came in with long beautiful hair I'm so disappointed with how my hair looks now. I'll attach the hair I came in her salon with and then photos of how I left.
