David has repeatedly gotten my trouble spots relief. Perfect pressure and deep tissue when really needed!

The massage therapist did a great job and everyone was very very nice, but I was presented with an extra fee AFTER service. The reason for the fee was that my therapist had extra training and I was paying for her extra education. This is not something I requested.  It would have been nice to know beforehand, or given the option in the first place. it was incredibly deceptive, and I'll not be coming back again for that reason alone. Left a 'Not Good" review on the location's web survey site based on a situation with a BD gift from someone very important to me. The reason and intention was to perhaps help them in their PR and CR. However, what happened to me after posting that comment was extremely hurtful and disturbing: They called the "gift giver" and created a big upset and rift, not to mention how it ruined something that should have been a happy moment and turned it into a feeling negative stain and embarrassment on my memory. They crossed the line between their business and pocking into the private lives and relationships of their customers. Their business is based on skin thin and private bodies of their customers!!! Wow, and they go out of their way to get back at a private citizen and causing hurt and anguish?, simply because they didn't like a comment? A comment at a site that they willingly and by their own choices left open for their customers to express their experiences and opinions with them? The ethics of the "body business" pivot on trust and respect for the individual, no matter the type, heathcare or alike. This place is pretty awesome. I might be a bit biased though bc I won a three pack of facials/massages in a contest but I had gone twice before I won that and have had good experiences the four times I've been there. I have had two facials and two massages so far. I think I prefer the massages more than the facials due to my sensitive skin and the fact I wished they spent more time on extractions. They also try to sell you some products after and it's kinda awkward bc I can't buy or use their products due to allergies I have. Maybe in the future they can incorporate an all natural line for clients like me - there are some spas that offer those and I would consider more facials if that was a possibility. The prices are great and I highly recommend people take advantage of their first timer discount. Every person that I met who worked there was really nice and fun to communicate with. I'll be booking more massages in be future after my last free one is used up! It was also really nice of them to honor my prize because I literally didn't notice I won until 6 months later lol oops . read more

I showed up for my hour massage 15 minutes early like I was asked, filled out my paperwork and waited 15 minutes past my appointment time and then only got a 45 minute massage even though I had booked an hour massage and was charged for an hour massage, and they thought that I should sign up for their program and I said no several times and they continued to bug me about the benefits of joining their program. I could hear laughing and loud talking outside my room which wasn't relaxing. But also, I had asked for relaxation, and specifically said I didn't want deep tissue, but it felt like deep tissue and was painful vs relaxing. Also, massage started after 5:00, and when we were done it was 6:22. So didn't even last the 90min that I paid for, just barely over an hour. But considering it was not relaxing, I was ready to be done. I have now heard a lot of people say they don't go for the entire time you paid for. Not cool. read more

I had a massage today and while the massage therapist was very nice and did a good job I was short changed. I paid for a 60 minute massage and it lasted from 12:15-12:53 when she quit and said we were finished. I was in the building for less than 60 minutes including check in, paperwork, undressing, massage, redressing, checking out... seems a bit cheap to me for a 60 minute massage. Overpriced and unprofessional - there are much better options in town both in terms of price and quality.

As usual, my massage therapist was outstanding-- she used the perfect amount of pressure to relieve muscle soreness from hard workouts. The rooms are very clean and quiet and the staff is welcoming and helpful. read more

The location was clean, peaceful, and welcoming, but our massage experience was 1 star. The massage felt slightly above average, but it was very rushed. I booked a 60 minute full body couples massage for my boyfriend and I as a birthday gift for my boyfriend and the massage probably lasted only 25 minutes. Our appointment was at 4pm, we walked in at 3:50pm signed all the necessary documents and waited about 5 minutes to be get to our room. Once we got to the room, our massage therapists were nice and allowed us to change our clothes, but after about 7 minutes, they prematurely walked in and we asked for additional time to finish changing. We only need an additional 3 minutes to change, but they left us in the room for more than 15 minutes, which took away from our massage time as well. Once the massages started, it felt good, but my boyfriend's therapist was ungraceful by knocking into the trash can and massage table and made weird noises while performing the massage. My therapist did not pay attention to my problem areas and quickly made her way through the massage. When the massage was finished, the time we began to put our clothes back on was 4:55pm. We did not at all receive the entire 60 minute massage that I paid for. I was extremely disappointed in the service and most likely will not be going back to this Ames location again. read more

I love this place. The hours are so convenient (9-9) weekdays and (9-6) weekends. I have found two therapists that I alternate between. I really like Drea and Eric!Massage heights also does facials which works great for me too! read more

The massage height app is terrible. I tried to schedule a massage, received an email and verification code but when I called the actual place to confirm my appointment several days later, there was no appointment scheduled. Very disappointing when you been looking forward to a massage all week. read more

First let me say that I've had over 100 massages with over 30 different practitioners over the past 20 years (in various states) and request deep tissue work every time. I've only had 3 different masseuses in Ames so far. However, I can clearly recommend that you avoid deep tissue massage with Drea. She used Elbow First into sensitive areas (without testing them first with fingers - a big no-no for massage) - it got so bad my body involuntarily jumped every time she touched me. Drea also used her ulna bone frequently. Her technique resulted in lots and lots of painful muscle snaps, over and over (where the masseuse fails to control the line of the muscle/tendon moving along it so that it pops out suddenly from under their pressure). Drea sometimes used an unusual technique of going perpendicular across my muscles in my leg and back instead of moving with the muscle direction - something that experienced masseuses only use when they cannot get the muscle to relax after trying several other techniques first - and it wasn't effective. She continued her massage strokes into non-muscle areas (for instance, over my kidneys). Several times she moved up my spine only to trap and bunch tissue against my neck uncomfortably - like moving a carpet into a wall and having it bunch up against the wall - without doing anything to the bunched area afterwards to soothe it. Her head and foot massage did not cause unnecessary pain - but those were the only areas. Drea was full of confidence and energy and clearly considered herself the experienced professional. One could hope that the new business model of outfits like Massage Heights and Massage Envy will bring affordable massage to the masses and employ more masseuses. But so far they aren't looking good for massage quality.. read more

I got a massage from Christina for an hour. Absolutely amazing! She covered my entire back and did a great job on my feet. Price was very cheap, $49.99. If I was gonna be here for longer I would go back again! You can't go wrong. Ample parking. Worth every penny! read more

The Massage Heights in Ames has been great! My wife and I both schedule regular massages with ease and the Therapists are fantastic? They always ask about troubled or tight aches and are very accommodating to our needs. We try to get in for regular monthly massages and Massage Heights is always able to accommodate evening and weekend schedules with our favorite Therapists. Great gift to ourselves. read more

This is by far the best massage place I've ever been to. I've used several different therapists here and have enjoyed them all. I always leave there relaxed. My only complaint is that I wish it were a bigger place with more therapists because you have to make an appointment far in advance. Highly recommend! read more
