Hermann Hill - Cottage Suite Jacuzzi Tub

We stayed in one of the Hermann Hill cottages for two nights and we were blown away by the…read moreattention to detail and amenities provided. First, we were greeted by a sign at our door saying "Happy Anniversary!" which was signed by all of the employees. Then we walked in and saw a basket filled with microwave popcorn, homemade granola and s'mores fixings (including a bottle of chocolate raspberry sauce). Looking in the refrigerator we found it stocked with water, juice, soda, Hermann Hill's fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies to be heated up later and the dinner package we had ordered (this was extra). This was amazing because the steaks were not just cheapie cuts but really nice ribeyes AND we realized that we got to keep all of the items which included two personalized wine glasses, an apron, two bottles of seasoning, a grilling sauce and a basting brush!! We checked out the amazing private porch overlooking the Missouri River and found the gas grill, fire pit and hot tub (they change the water between every guest). Going back inside to the bedroom there are Hermann Hill robes and slippers, a very comfortable king-size bed, large jacuzzi tub, an aromatherapy fireplace over the tub and a shower to die for with a HUGE rain shower head and two side jets as well as a sauna setting. Between the bedroom and living room areas is a double-sided gas fireplace that definitely keeps the place cozy! The breakfasts both days were delivered hot and tasted amazing but it's more food than I could ever eat! And they even packed us a lunch cooler for our day of wine-tasting!! I love the fact that you can ask them not to clean your room every day and each day that they don't, they leave fresh towels and water at your door and donate $5 to a local charity. We also booked a couples massage in the room and that was a really nice treat. Both masseurs were professional and made the experience very relaxing. Bottom line is that Hermann Hill is expensive compared to other places you can stay in Hermann but I would argue that they still give you MORE than your money's worth!!! We are going to make this our annual anniversary destination!!

Hermann Hill was good, but not great. I can see why this is a spot where couples come to connect…read more We stayed in the rooms that were attached to check in so my ranking only based on that room and facility. Check in was easy and the view on the hill would be nice if not rainy and can't imagine what a great sunny day would be like (probably very pretty!). They do have a 3 mile walking trail but if you try it you need to grab the map first or you'll think you're heading to a private road. We turned back without a map thinking we went the wrong way - rookie mistake but wish we would have been told to grab a map prior to heading out. Or be handed one as newbies... The owner I believe lives in the facility as well, and it was Easter weekend. He was talkative first night upon check in and did stop by outside to chat. The waterfall was not working and he said maybe he'd get it working by the time we left. Not a big deal, but never did turn on. It was odd that his family lived there or was visiting for Easter so we did feel a little like intruders over the weekend. Room: was freezing cold, and first night the heat was not working well. We did have a fireplace in the room but the unit to use for heat was not working no matter what we tried even with staff assistance. The bathroom was freezing and we had to use a space heater to try to warm it. We did complain the second night and nothing was fixed as owner was having Easter dinner upstairs with his family. Hot Tub: clean, small and perfect for 2 people. Made the trip. Didn't use the small table fire pit. They don't tell you that they drop off deserts at night and the next morning we woke up with melted ice cream outside the room. Communication breakdown. Coffee was folders, nothing great but did have a selection of offerings for breakfast time. Staff workers were amazing - kind and super friendly given that it was Easter weekend. You can tell they do try to give you the best experience. The staff hired here were amazing and friendly. Games are available for the rainy days. TV has most steaming services, rooms a tad older look. Somethings not functioning - like the sound machine, TV being finicky, and heat in room. We probably will not choose this room. Would rather stay at the rooms that are on the river and try that route next time!

This was my first B&B experience and I really enjoyed it. My husband and I and another couple came…read morefor the weekend. We found Apprill's by searching online for a place to stay during our visit to Hermann, MO for Oktoberfest. We chose this place because of it's location, within walking distance of many shops, restaurants, a brewery and winery. It was also reasonably priced, but did have a two night minimum stay during Oktoberfest. They have three suites and a loft. We were in suite 2 with two bed rooms, one full bath and a kitchen/living room combo. It was cute and cozy. The building was old, but had been kept up. We got confused my the thermostats and woke up in a sauna in the middle of the night, but got it under control. They provided some basic breakfast items: milk, oj, banana bread, cereal and bananas. It would have been nice to see some homemade items or least eggs to make for breakfast. The living area was small, only a love seat and chair with a small tv in the corner. The tv didn't have cable, but there was a dvd player. The bedrooms where average size with an adjoining door. The beds were queen size, but not very comfortable. I didn't sleep well either night. Overall we were happy and comfortable here. Our trip was more about exploring the town, shops, and wineries so we didn't spend much time in our suite. Next time I visit I may consider another place to stay just because this place was incredible. If you plan to come during Oktoberfest, you'll need to book about 8 months in advance because the town is small and places fill up quick.

Rhiannon, the owner, is on site and takes you through your room so you see each detail. We stayed in the Victorian Room, with a massive, four-poster King size bed, a decorative fireplace, and a giant jetted tub! The location is perfect, right in the middle of downtown Hermann, and close to everything in town. Rhiannon stocks the mini-fridge with lots of goodies and a basket of pastries each morning arrives outside the door. We spent mornings on the peaceful porch with our coffees and evenings (after hitting some bars and music venues) with a bottle of wine at night. There's also a library of local interest books in the hallway, so some good local ghost stories were enjoyed. Rhiannon has a lot of high-end hotel experience, and it shows. Nothing is left to chance, every detail is thought out and need anticipated. Should you need anything she's just a text away but lets her guests enjoy themselves with respectful privacy. We LOVED staying at the Iron Horse and will be back many times! (Note: contrary to the pictures, we didn't just stay on the porch the whole time. There is a TON of fun to be had in Hermann and we definitely had a lot of it!).

The pictures on their website and on Trip Advisor were great and we could tell that we were going to be staying at a really cool place. Boy were we surprised upon arrival. The pictures do not do this place justice as the property is stunning and the house is spectacular. We stayed in the Patio Suite, but upon arrival, we were greeted by Gary, one of the owners, and he offered to show us the main level that has three full bedrooms and bathrooms, living room, gourmet kitchen, dining room and a full deck that has an amazing view of the Missouri River and farmland below as the house sits atop one of the highest points on 4th street. One of the bedroom suites even has a wheelchair accessible bathroom. Marsha and Gary have done such an amazing job decorating the house. The Patio Suite was like having a full size apartment to ourselves. When you enter, the bathroom is straight ahead. It offers a walk in shower and has a hot tub sized jacuzzi tub. This was such a nice feature to have at the end of the day after having a relaxing and fun day visiting the local wineries. To your left, there was a full living area with a couch, two chairs and an electric fire place. There was also a desk area as well. Off of that, was the bedroom area that had curtains you could pull for added privacy, in case you were sharing the suite for your stay. There was a kitchen area that had beautiful cabinets, a sink, mini fridge, microwave, toaster oven and many other conveniences. Marsha and Gary have beautifully decorated this suite with what appears to be items they have collected from their travels over the years. There is also a bookcase with many wonderful books and they also have a Bose CD player and many CDs to listen to while relaxing. As the name mentions, you have a covered patio off your suite with a beautiful view of the river and a grill as well. While there you are welcome to explore their gardens and also enjoy the fire pit that is located at the edge of the property overlooking the river. We will stay at Spirit Hill every time that we come back to Hermann as this was a fantastic place to stay and it is owned by fantastic people. We will recommend this to any friends or family making a trip to Hermann.
