My wife and I both used to go here a few times a year each. That all changed after one of their high pressure sales employees sold a membership to my wife telling us that we could share the membership. Turned out that wasn't true. To their credit, they did finally cancel the membership for us, but it was a frustrating experience. I always had a great experience otherwise, but this ruined it for us. After filling out a survey, the franchise owner did try to contact us (who, according to the manager, I was told had already rejected allowing us to use the membership as it was sold). After playing phone tag with her, I finally had had enough and decided to no longer pursue it. Between 3 separate conversations with the the manager, a detailed email to the store, and a copy of that email included in the survey- we thought we were very clear about what had happened. If they were interested in keeping us as customers, they should have abided by what their sales person promised us when they sold us the membership. It should never have taken that much work on my end. The manager basically kept repeating that what their sales person sold us was impossible because they don't offer family memberships. Well, if we bought a membership with one of your employees promising us that- then you better either honor it or do something to smooth it over other than just canceling it. That made it obvious to me that they wanted this issue to disappear- along with me. Update: Thanks for responding below Scott G. My massage therapist at this Massage Envy was great. He was very professional and always told me what he was going to do before he did it, which made my first experience with a male massage therapist comfortable and relaxing. The desk staff is nice, however they claimed they cannot see in the computer what services I have received at other Massage Envys, however this is not true. The computers are all linked, so I'm unsure as to why they claimed differently. My massage was great, but overall, the ambiance is not relaxing and the desk staff are fairly unprofessional. read more

Similar to previous reviews, my Masseuse John was wonderful--I had never had a massage done by a male Masseuse before and he made sure I was comfortable and didn't cross any lines into awkwardness or uncomfortableness. The staff, though informative, are not the most positive people I would want to be around if I were having a spa day. So 5 stars for the Masseuses there but a 2-3 stars for the help. read more

I've been a member for a little under a year now and have had great experiences with this spa. The front desk staff is friendly and very personable. I've always loved deep tissue massages, and these therapists definitely know how to loosen tight muscles. I've enjoyed each experience, however, I recently had one of the most relaxing massages to date. This was my second prenatel massage experience, however, I felt it was far more personalized toward my needs than my first. I quickly booked a second appointment with Brit knowing this talented therapist must fill up. I am in my second trimester and feel wonderful. This was my first time at a massage envy so my 50 minute massage cost $49, not too shabby of a price, but you get what you pay for in the end my friend. First off it was too cold in the room, that type of cold where you can feel the blood in your hands thickening with a tingling sensation. Not to mention is is AUGUST!!! Some reviews mentioned a heating blanket, if mine in fact was one of those it was definitely not on. As for the actual massage, I told the man (who smelled of cigarettes when I met him) that I just wanted to relax and I wasn't having and problems or pain, emphasizing a gentle and relaxing massage. Off the bat he told me that might be hard for him because he specialized in deep tissue...REALLY? Shouldn't they all be able to do everything especially at MASSAGE MEMBERSHIP CLUB. He dug his finger tips into my bones (spine) the entire time while he was working on my back for 35 minutes of my 50 minute massage. After I told him that the pressure was too much he quickly did my legs - along with some uncomfortable stretching-, feet, shoulders, neck and face in the remaining time. Some people may like massages like this, but I was wincing and holding my breath half the time, which if you ask me, isn't the type of relaxing I asked for. I will say though, that he was very professional when it came to covering and uncovering me, he even turned down the lights when I had to flip over, probably for comfort issues. I thought that was very polite of him. I am sure he is great at deep tissues massages, but that isn't what I was looking for today, so of course I was disappointed with the service. read more

They call me days before my appointment and tell me the girl is taking a vacation during the week I'm coming in and won't be able to see me for 2 months due to being booked out. Didn't really have the best experience here. My masseuse, whose name I can't remember, was a man who seemed to be getting bored or distracted during my massage. And I swear I could hear him listening to music or something on headphones during my massage. I couldn't be sure because my face was down and I was mostly naked, but I kept hearing the faint sound of music coming through headphones. This made me totally distracted an annoyed. I work out a lot and had some pain in my shoulders and neck, so I told him this and yet he spent more time focusing on my legs. I will not return here. read more

I have been a "member" of Massage Envy for 3 years. I am a huge fan of massage and have been for over 25 years. I have tried many local and "not so local" spas and massage therapists over the years. This place is great. Your experience will differ based on your massage therapist, of course. It took me a couple of tries but I found a massage therapist who matches my needs and personality perfectly. I don't want to give out her name because she is already too busy to fit me in sometimes. (SORRY!) You will find someone here that is a perfect fit for you too. They have many massage therapists to choose from. If you get REGULAR massages, then this place is an excellent value. If you only get an occasional massage (no more than 6 per year), then don't get a membership here as you will waste your money. Unused massages at the end of the membership term are not refunded. I get regular massages (about 2 per month); therefore this place is a great value for me since the massages cost $39 for 50 minutes. If you want to give it a try, you get the introductory price for the first massage. Try it ......you will be so relaxed afterward that you won't care how much it cost. read more

I have been a regular client for many years now and my review remains the same. This Massage Envy location is terrific with attentive front counter staff. They have a nice range of services but I go for deep tissue massage. My 'go to' massage therapist is Rita Adam. I hesitate to reveal this because Rita is already very much in demand but she works 6 days a week. A session with Rita will do wonders for relieving stress and tightness wherever your trouble spot may be. Because of Rita I became a regular member. One of the best decisions I have made. read more

I don't know if I am just weird but I am not a huge massage person. I always feel super relaxed during the massage and for some time afterwards. But later in the day or the next day i forget I even had one. With that being said I still greatly enjoyed this location and would totally go back. They have a membership which allows you to get a monthly massage. This sounds awesome! My masseuse was great. My husband also went and liked his masseuse as well. I made a last minute appointment at this place since I had a day off and have been working out a lot just needed my body and muscles to relax. I called and they were able to fit me in. I usually have female masseuse but decided to go with Bart And I'm glad I did because he was amazing. He worked on all the points I told him about and provided the exact amount of pressure as I req. After the massage he gave me some pointers about some techniques to apply to my hands due to my work. I thoroughly enjoyed the massage and my experience at massage envy. The place had good music. After reading the reviews on this place, I was ready to not enjoy my experience, but couldn't pass up such a good deal. Everything was easy from making the appointment to filling out the brief paperwork. My masseuse was Becky. After a short conversation we got started. I've been a client of Massage Envy Wheaton since the week they first opened their doors. I've probably had 200 massages from ten different therapists--many of them from Alisa but, recently, a series of massages from Lisa. This is a class operation. The scheduling department is pleasant and accommodating, and I always get an electronic or telephonic reminder of my upcoming appointment. The rooms are meticulously clean, the therapists timely and professional, and the costs reasonable. My only issue here, when booking, is having to listen to the same speech about whether or not I also want to book a facial before I can start talking to book a massage appointment. I highly recommend Massage Envy, especially this particular location. Well-run, pleasant, proficient, clean, properly staffed. I have been a member for nearly a year; re-joined after a period of being gone due to other issues. You need to find the right massage therapist for YOU. They are all a little differnt in the pace/depth/order of the massage. I have mine, Ruth, she is perfect, but it took a couple of tries to get the right one. I do a 1 1/2 hour monthly massage. Never missed my appt as I look forward to it too much but, just in case, Massage Envy gives you a call to remind you the day before. I have mixed feelings about this place. The corporate aesthetic and membership pressure is unappealing. I did sign up for a one year and went through several average therapists until I found Jeanie who is excellent. I would give her five stars if I didn't have to consider their policies. I had an appointment scheduled today but came down with a severe head cold and canceled. I am being charged 20.00 for the appointment even though there was no way to know this would happen in advance. Massage Envy is a rip off. They say that a 30 min. massage is $42 but in reality by the time you change and get on the table and the massage therapist starts it is a 20 min. massage and I think that $42 for 20 minutes is ridiculous! However the girls at the desk were pleasant and the massage therapist was okay. I won't go back though. read more

Every massage depends on a) the masseuse and b) your massage preferences. Massage Envy in Danada does a great job personalizing your massage. The masseuses ask at the beginning of every session what you want out of the massage; the amount of pressure, locations, places of pain or injury to be aware of, etc. I visited this location several times before meeting my favorite masseuse Nik (referred to as "Nik Nik" by his co-workers). He was truly attentive to my massage needs and always open to input or direction. He was also genuinely interested in me as a person; asking about my work and family. He proved to be a sympathetic listener when I needed to vent my problems aloud. I've since returned to Nik many times and every session reminds me why I keep coming back. Massage Envy offers a good price, a good location and because of Nik and the other masseuses in Danada, a great rejuvenation for body and soul. read more

This place is great if you want 70 year old women slathering lotion on you. Thats 90 percent of their staff here. No real technique and never even bother looking for the knots, and thats IF you can even get an appointment. Very very rarely do i get an appointment that is convenient for me. If you know you are going to be sore next thursday at 10am then you are ok, but if you wake up and want to go in for a quick massage then you are out of luck here. Ive been a member for years, mostly because of pure laziness. Find a better place for your money. read more

Just a update on the situation, I spoke with the owner Peter regarding this ongoing issue on Monday and he was more than willing to go out of his way to help get this solved. Sadly my problems were caused by a old employee who is no longer with the company and she basically lied to me when telling me that she would take care of things for me. However Peter immediately fixed the problem with no hesitation and I was also refunded the charges that were suppose to have been taken care of back in September by that old employee. Bart is 100% completely flexible and is a wonderful massage therapist! He is a great listener & communicator and helps me with my physical requirements, which is not an easy thing. I have been a regular client now for close to 5 years. It is very good for relaxation and I also believe it is helpful for my circulation. If I have a health issue he goes out of his way to accommodate. Bart focuses on specific areas on request, he is amazing, and goes above and beyond to ensure I have a session that is helpful to my needs. I had been having severe back, shoulder, and neck pain for several weeks significantly impacting my sleep and daily life I finally had a little time to get a massage and was optimistic that my pain would be relived. When I made the appointment I specifically asked for someone with experience and good reviews. I have had many problems when getting massages at places like Massage Envy where I pay money to be massaged by someone clear lack of experience, wasting both my time and money. When I walked into the Wheaton facility, there was no one at the front desk. I waited for several minutes until an employee came out from the back, slurping on a milkshake. She asked me how my massage was, which was interesting since I had not even checked in yet. They not only had milkshakes at the front desk but also food. Completely unprofessional. My massage therapist came out to get me. When she asked what I was looking for I told her I wanted her to focus on my neck and my shoulders and my back. I did not need a full body. She continued to cut me off with "yes, yes, yes" without acknowledging anything I said. When she began my massage it became clear that she was not going to do what I asked. I attempted to correct her but she would not listen. She spent over 40 minutes on my legs and arms though I specifically instructed her to focus on my back, shoulders, and neck. Her technique was horrific. I felt as if I was getting rope burn on my back. I only like to receive deep tissue massages so I know the difference between deep tissue and terrible technique. I now have a dry skin patch rash on my back from her vigorous, superficial rubbing. When I left, I felt completely disrespected. When I complained to the manager, she told me that the therapist I had gets lots of compliments on her massages, which I find to be completely unbelievable. I told her I wanted my 90 minute massage to be credited back to my account, I was told I could have a 30 minute one that had to be used at the Wheaton facility, totally unhelpful. The completely unprofessional environment as well as the rope burn rash on my shoulder and lack of relief from a massage therapist who does not listen to her clients makes this facility an awful place to go. read more

Massage envy in wheaton is great. The front desk staff are wonderful they light up my day when i go in. A few girls (WED. NIGHT CREW) are such a joy when ever i go in. My best friend told me i should try this place because i had never had a professional massage, my first session only cost 49 dollars and may i say it was the best 49 dollars i had ever spent. I had the joy of experiencing what they called a deep tissue massage from a therapist named Jerry, now at first i didn't think i wanted or needed deep tissue but Maria insisted on trying Jerry. (thanks maria) i was extremely happy, so happy that i joined the membership program and may i say every time i go in it gets better and better i would advise anyone who is looking for a grand experience on a buget, go to this massage envy because the therapist are wonderful as well as the front desk staff and the management. read more

The women at the front desk were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful, so I had high hopes for my first massage here! Unfortunately, I experienced a massage that was rushed, not relaxing, and left scratches on my back and neck. I was told to communicate with my therapist so I could get exactly what I needed. I commented three times that she was scratching me, twice she responded with "okay," and the third time she responded by saying "it's because you want hard pressure," but her nails continued to scratch me as she massaged me. However, the thing that really ruined the massage was the wiggling-scrubbing technique my therapist was using. I don't quite know what else to call it. I was as if she were trying to wake me up from a deep sleep-- making rapid, rough movements around my scapulas and traps that were simultaneously shocking and making me feel ticklish, causing me to tense up and get no benefit from the massage. I asked her twice to slow down and please stop the wiggling, but she responded with "you just want less pressure," and made no change to her pace or technique. I was really feeling special that I was gifted this massage for teacher appreciation week, and it was unfortunately just not the relaxing experience I've been needing. read more

I recently became a member of this location and I had my first massage yesterday. Before I get into my massage story, let me just say that the front desk folks were warm and inviting. Moving on to my massage, I had never met my masseuse before so I was a little nervous. According to the rules of Massage Envy, the therapist is supposed to spend a few minutes asking what you want. My guy asked me what I wanted and as I started to tell him, he stopped me by saying "lower back and upper back, got it" and then he walked out. At the time, I figured he understood me. The massage began and it was the most painful experience of my life....and I've delivered two children!! Basically, he would dig his finger into my muscles. It was not pleasant. Halfway through the massage, he says to me that he's hungry and isn't doing his best work. He says he's super lightheaded and isn't sure of what he's doing. He then tells me about how I'm his only appt for that day (shocker) and how he's depressed over it. How is this relaxing for me?? I'm in pain and now I'm worried he is going to pass out!!! I could not wait for the massage to be over and ran out of there as fast as I could. I woke up today and I can't raise either of my arms and I have pain shooting up and down my leg. For the second time in less than 2 weeks, the Front desk staff has jumbled the appointment times. The reality is, I loved the service until the last few weeks...both my wife and I were told we were there a week early for our appointment (after having scheduled face to face and discussed how it was the Saturday of Labor Day weekend), and having my son told he was there a day early (after I listened to the entire scheduling conversation less than 24 hours ago), I'm simply shocked at the degradation in customer service. To top it off, when I called and asked for the manager or owner to return my call, I was told "This isn't an excuse, but we have a lot of front desk staff in training". I cannot un-hear that....it's all of a sudden my issue. Having a lot of massages built up in my account, it's unclear to me how to use them when I'm simply told I can't be accommodated on the day for which a massage was scheduled. read more

I have been a member with Massage Envy for quite a few years and have had an overall great experience. Unfortunately, that was not the case last night. I had scheduled at the Wheaton clinic, my second time going there, for a half hour stretch therapy with Eric and an hour massage with Chris. The stretching session with Eric was phenomenal. He was thorough, attentive and great at what he does. However, my session with Chris was utterly disappointing. He seemed as though he was rushed when talking with me about areas of concern/what I wanted to focus on. This was not the big issue though. I have never been to a massage therapy session where I DID NOT receive an actual hands on massage. Instead, Chris just poked at me, pushed his fist and elbow into me and pulled me in different directions for the entire session. He did no massaging once so ever. I feel as though I wasted my time and money by seeing him. As a long time member, I have seen a variety of therapists in the past and I have never left feeling the way I did last night. I am never one to complain but when I feel as cheated as I did last night, I felt the need to say something. read more
