Great massage and a great price. I will definitely make this part of my regular routine.read more

After 11-plus years living in downtown Chicago, I moved in with my Warrenville-based boyfriend just…read moreover a year ago. Massage has always been part of my self-care routine--when my body really needs it and I can afford it. We both gave up on Massage Envy years ago, when the prices kept going up, the best masseuses kept leaving, and the quality of the overall experience cratered. So I was on the hunt for a reliable place near us that wouldn't cost a fortune. After researching a bunch of places, I decided to give Spa Oasis in Naperville a try. And I'm so glad I did! Yes, it's in a strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside. And yes, you won't be getting the fancy amenities of a spa. But you will get a blissful massage at a great price. A 90-minute deep-tissue massage for $115 is a shockingly good deal. (I paid close to $200 for 90 minutes at the fancy Chicago spa I used to frequent, making it a luxury gift I treated myself to only a few times a year.) Spa Oasis accepts walk-ins, but they also have a booking tool on their website that lets you select your preferred staff member (provided she's working that day). This is where things get a little frustrating--and why I'm giving Spa Oasis four stars instead of five ... Even when you request a specific staff member, you won't always get her. (We both love Sunny, so we always book a day/time when she's working so that one of us will benefit from her magic touch.) But the past two times we went in for a pre-scheduled couples massage with Sunny, neither of us got her. :( We also have regularly experienced the service disruptions other reviewers have mentioned, where one of the masseuses leaves in the middle of a treatment to answer the phone, direct a walk-in to come back at a later time, accept a delivery, etc. It would be great if they had a dedicated staffer to handle the administrative stuff so the masseuses didn't have to. That said: We are STILL talking about the massages we got a week ago from Lucia (the owner) and Tina. WOW! I've also had great experiences with Annie. As one of the other reviewers said, I want to go every single day. If only!

I get sore and twist muscles. It is a constant state of being beat up. JaJa reduces the pain and makes me feel normal. My Sister goes to her as well. As many massages as I have had over the years, Thai massage was new to me. I had done some research…read moreand was interested to see what it might to to help my various tension issues. I found Jaja (pronounced "Yaya") through her web site and checked out Sky Thai. Thai massage is not like a regular massage (if you're used to Swedish, deep tissue or whatever). You stay clothed and the therapist manipulates your limbs and muscles with pressure. It's sort of like a combination of yoga (stretching, postures) and massage (muscle and pressure), with someone else doing all the work! (It's actually called Lazy Man's Yoga, I have read.) Anyway, Jaja initially asked me about pain issues, then analyzed my posture to see what areas looked problematic. The massage is done on a futon rather than a table as you may be used to, and the therapist uses her hands, elbows, knees, even feet to help stretch, push, press and pull your limbs and musculature. Needless to say, if you've got a problem with people being all up in your business, this is not the massage for you, as it is not as "removed" as Swedish or more typical massage techniques. But the benefit is obvious. Jaja also gave me some stretches to do at home to help difficult areas. Overall, I liked Jaja and would recommend this style. If you are seeking a deeper or different massage, try Thai!
