This is for Penny's Oakbrook location, I miss her being in the city. That said, there's a reason I drive out to Oakbrook, it's because her method works. Just like any of us that does anything repetitively we all get subject to injury. Since starting this years ago she has been teaching her method, she also brought on Brie to her practice, at first I was skeptical, however after having a few sessions with her I can see or more-so feel that Penny has trained her well and would be happy to have either work on me. This is not a spa massage, sure parts of it will be enjoyable especially the beginning, warming up the muscles before the digging in and pulling of skin starts. Parts of it will hurt, you need to breathe into it, I like to call this good pain. This is a full body experience, and they'll find spots that you think don't hurt and do, they're also connected to what does. Don't be surprised to end up with a foot in your arm pit as your arm is being extended or a foot on your shoulder while your neck is being worked on, or at least I think this is what's happening as I feel where hands are and I'm laying on my stomach. I really don't care what's going on because I know the result will make me feel so much better. This is worth the drive, she does have flexible hours. Never experienced anything like this. I have done every type of massage available out there including Thai looking to get relief from constant tightness, pain and stiffness. I left the office taller and feeling looser. So much looser that my muscles in my legs were jello. I typically get deep tissue massages 2x a month. What they did surpasses how I have ever felt. I have been in chronic pain for over 45 years with osteo arthritis, sciatica, and stenosis. I am 65 years old. I have been to every kind of doctor and therapist except surgical. My mother had five surgeries and all that did was cause more pain and an early death at 66. With age, I became worse and started taking pain medication and sleeping pills in the last eight years. I became totally inactive because any exercise caused more pain. I would wake up after four hours and need pain medication to fall back to sleep. Last year, I started swimming because I didn't like how I had become short of breath climbing stairs. At first, I was able to swim with no real adverse effect. As I increased my time swimming, my shoulder became so bad I couldn't even pick up a tea cup. I then resorted to using a paddle board. I had been going to a chiropractor with a physical therapist for three times a week for two months. This gave me a slight improvement with the sciatica but my shoulder pain increased no matter what they did. My daughter was experiencing similar problems with arthritis and nerve damage. There are simply not enough good things to say about Penny and her method of massage therapy. I have had many massages - some by the best in 'Chicago- and none have helped like Penny. Her method is not the fru-fru way with lotions and perfumed air. She calls it a medical massage and that is exactly what it is. I have had constant muscle ache since having back surgery. She helped! This is seriously a life changer. I am not kidding. As of last Saturday I was living in chronic pain all over my body for the last few years since I had Lyme disease. I have fibromyalgia, plantars fascitis, joint aches, stiffness, etc. I would wake up in pain before I even got out of bed. I could barely walk down the stairs. I had to gear myself up just to get up and walk into the kitchen. Everything hurt from my feet to my neck - hips, knees, back, everything. I'm 52 and I walked like an 85 year old. Long story short, I found Penny on Saturday afternoon by pure serendipity, she treated me Sunday morning, and Monday morning I woke up NOT in pain, stood straight up out of bed and walked down the stairs like a normal human being. I fell upon penny when my husband booked me a surprise "massage" I am an avid runner and have been for many years. This year has been crazy and my training has been sub par. I went to see penny 2 days before the Chicago women's 10 miler..... I expected to go out and run an average pace, I surprised myself and I won.
