My appointment was with Alicia.S at 10:30am. When it was past 10:30 I asked the receptionist if my therapist was in yet. Alicia heard me from down the hall and yelled at me in an annoyed and rude tone of voice said "I'M WAITING FOR MY CLIENT". I personally do not expect to get yelled at in a spa right before a massage by my therapist. Alicia's attitude is appropriate for someone directing traffic at a truck stop, not a spa. I left without a massage because the last thing I wanted was her negative energy touching me for the next hour. I've been to Massage Envy in a different state which encouraged me to see what we have in the Skokie/Niles area. New TV ads also renewed my interest. I will say to the business owners, no amount of slick advertising will ever outweigh customer reviews. I'd love a place like this I could go regularly to help with chronic pain issues. But, with so many recent unhappy reviewers, I'll hold off. It also seems ghastly expensive. read more

I was stunned by the way I was treated at this facility. I was not told that I could get a refund if I changed my mind about a purchase I had just made and which I had not used. I simply wanted to switch to another facility of the same company, and was told in no uncertain terms that I could not switch and I could not get my money back. If I had known that before I paid my money, I would never have given them my money. Obviously these people are so desperate for money that they cannot follow normal business practice and refund a customer's money if the customer changes his mind five minutes after making the purchase. I've been a member at this location for almost 2 years now and have watched it decline to a now utterly disappointing establishment. When I joined, the front desk staff were friendly, smiling, stood to greet you, knew and greeted all of their customers by name as they came in, and the energy of the place was positive and relaxing. Now when you walk in, you will stand there staring into the faces of front office staff who very apparently do not want to be there and are far from happy to see you. After waiting to be greeted with a 'hello' (which may or may not happen), you will be ushered back to wait some more, and no longer offered a drink or use of the restroom, as this used to be common practice. My massage therapist has been Shanti who is absolutely awesome. She literally cured my migraine headaches when I came to see her to start and I've been coming ever since. I have had to schedule once or twice with other therapists just due to my schedule or an emergency and the other therapists do not compare. On Monday, I showed up for my appointment which I scheduled a month ago, was checked in, and was sitting in the waiting room. After 20 minutes of waiting, I went to the front to ensure they informed Shanti I was there. It was then that they realized Shanti was not there!!!! Really??! How do you not verify your staff is present when checking in customers? Unfortunately Shanti had a medical emergency and this was beyond her control, but I definitely showed more care and concern for her well being since I know she never misses appointments, than her employer did. This speaks volumes about why everyone there looks so miserable. I will not be returning to this location. I just cant tolerate the bad energy, terrible terrible customer service of the front office staff, and that energy is only going to continue to permeate the place. I come there to relax, not to absorb negativity! I wish the old staff and the good energy was still there. I loved this place before. i went on my birthday as a gift to myself. I booked a massage, my Massage therapist was Valerie . So first the room floor was nice and dirty very stained, there was no aviance created she wasnt really inviting! Now moving on to the massage itself her hands were like ice And the lotion was cold as well. She stated my hands are cold but will warm up. The WORST massage in massage history! My husband bought me a 60 min massage here since it's down the street from our home and convenient. This is my third time here. The first time was great, second time I was bruised, this time it was just laughable (except for the part where it cost $95). I swear I was just massaged by a person who hates touching people. At the beginning she asked if i was comfortable with glute massage- I'm not sure why since it didn't go above the knee. At times I'm pretty sure she fell asleep because she would just stop and then start really fast again. At the end i almost just said "you know what, let's just stop" but some part of my upbringing whispered that would be impolite and to just ride it out. Maybe she was having a bad day? Either way I won't be back and wanted to give a heads up there are much better places in the area to get a massage. On my way out the receptionist asked me "how was everything?!" I said "eh". HORRIBLE!!!!! I booked massages weeks in advance because we have the membership just to get a text saying my massage was cancelled! I now have 7 credits that my husband and I have not been allowed to use because scheduling is impossible!!! When we called to see why it was cancelled the person on the phone said the massage therapist my husband was scheduled with was "not reliable"! We have paid $770+ for a membership we can't use! If we cancel the membership, we only have 60 days to use the credits that we have which is IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE APPOINTS ARE NEVER AVAILABLE!!! This is the worst company I have ever dealt with and I will continue to blast them until their corporate decides to help me!!!! read more

Let's start of with me saying I'm very happy with this location! Everyone is pretty much on top of there game.. I've been coming for months now and I can't be more then pleased, some reviews I don't feel are true makes me sad seeing them but to each there own . I've had wonderful experiences here.. I went here for a massage and it wasn't my favorite massage place. I have been to many other places around the area that I would much rather go to. Here are some good points: - My massage therapist (Barbara) was kind and attentive and talkative. She was able to listen to my needs and did what I asked -They followed COVID precautions Here are my negative points: - I had to wait outside for some time since no one was at the front desk to let me in. They were trying to follow their COVID precautions- but personally it was annoying to have to wait outside. I kept calling their line too- and it was only after the third try that someone came to let me inside. I followed directions and got their early too, just so I can make my appointment but was upset that I had to wait so long to get into the place. -I was booked for an hour massage- and to be honest it was no more than 45 minutes total. My massage was supposed to be at 10:30 but the therapist only reached at around 10:35-10:40. My massage ended exactly at 11:25. She didn't make up any of the lost time and instead of going until 11:30 also ended early. - My massage therapist (Barb) was nice, but to be honest, she took her time for everything. It seemed like part of my massage time was her fetching things and walking around. It wasn't a true hour massage, and that part of the process seemed very unprofessional. I was pretty upset about the whole ordeal. Massage envy is known to be a good institution for massages, but I don't believe the Niles one makes the cut. If anything I would end up at the Massage Envy in Mount prospect (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) or other massage places in Niles/Skokie. read more

I had a negative experience at this location. Their scheduling process was awful. I was on the phone for more than 20 minutes to schedule. They are blaming it on a system update. When scheduling, I let the receptionist know I was pregnant and this would be a prenatal massage. Upon arrival, I was told I was all set. No paperwork, no tablet. I sat in their waiting area for about 10 minutes and the therapist came out. Without asking, the therapist sprayed lavender essential oils in the room and I immediately became nauseated as I'm very sensitive to perfumes. We then had to switch rooms which took time away from my massage. I then mentioned lower back pain due to pregnancy which surprised her because scheduling failed to notify her that this was a prenatal massage. I then had to sign consents and switch tooms again which took more time away from the massage. I lost about 15 minutes of table time. I do not recommend this location read more

I've had two interactions with this location, and both were miserably subpar. The first time, I came in off the street hoping to see what services I could afford with a gift card I had received. The lady at countered ignored me once she learned I didn't have an appointment - and told me to wait and talk to another lady who was on the phone. About a solid 5 minutes of being ignored by both of them, I said, "I'll just come back. One lady said "Sorry about that!" as I walked out and I thought to myself, "Really? Are you?" The second time was to redeem said gift card. I arrived 10 minutes prior to my 4pm apt, and filled out various forms and specification via an ipad, which took about 5 minutes. I then went to change out of my work clothes, passing the lady (who would turn out to be my masseuse) in the hall on the way. I came out of the bathroom at 4:05 and proceeded to wait in a "tranquility room." At 4:10, the lady I passed in the hall came out and said "Where were you?", to which I replied "I've been right here!" (Also, you saw me go into the bathroom...) We then proceed to the massage room and here's where I about blew a gasket. She asked me ALL of the questions I had previously answered on the iPad. Clearly that step was pointless. Then, she tried to up-sell me on a special "Head and Foot package" and at this point I was like, "Whatever. Can we just get going?" I check my watch and it's now 4:20pm before we get started, and I opted for the premium head and foot package (spoiler alert: it's just hot towels). The actual massage is not bad, not the best. Just OK. Once 4:56 rolls around and it's all over folks. $75 for a mediocre 46 minute massage. Pretty unnerved by the redundancies and up-selling. Left with more tension that I arrived with, which is the exact opposite reason I go to get a massage. Never going back, with or without a gift card. :/ read more

I have mixed feelings about my first visit today. I went in for a prenatal massage with Niki. She was great and super nice. However, I went in at 1:02, massage started at 1:10 and finished at 1:50. Not happy with that as I specifically asked over the phone if the massage time was one hour because I honestly didn't want any less (I would have loved 90 min honestly). After many years, I'm canceling my membership to this service. What should be a relaxing, hassle-free experience has become a highly stressful nightmare. I suffer from acute back pain, and massage provides relief. I look forward to each appointment, usually with the same masseuse, with great pleasure. As a rule, I have 90 min deep-tissue sessions. I showed up one day and was told that I didn't have an appointment and that I should have known this because I most certainly didn't receive a confirmation call. So not only am I in pain, but I'm also an idiot. Standing at the desk, I booked another 90 min massage with my preferred masseuse, about 4 weeks out. Once again, when I showed up, no appointment for me. Shame on me for focusing on my own responsibilities rather than Massage Envy's. I should have done their job and called them to confirm. After numerous attempts to contact someone with my complaint, I got to the owner, who apologized profusely and extended a free 90 min session to me, which she helped me to schedule about 2 weeks out. The morning of my free session, they called and canceled. Jokes on me. By this time I had declined my renewal and had scheduled the balance of my sessions, 90 min, as I could within the allowed 60-day window post-cancellation. Yesterday I finally had some relief from my back pain, with my preferred masseuse. It was terrific until she started finishing up 45 min into my session. "Lisette" (I had written down her name!) at the front desk had put me down for 60 min, not 90 min as noted in my calendar. I began to cry on the table. Massage Envy, you win. I have two 90 min sessions remaining which I won't use. You can keep them. That my massage experience has become so stressful, so unpleasant, only makes clear that this business is not run professionally and does not cater to or even care about its clients. I go monthly for a facial with Evelyna. She is gentle but thorough and very knowledgeable and honest about products. I never feel like she is pushing me to buy. I have not enjoyed other aestheticians there so definitely ask for her. Turn over with aestheticians is high so my fingers are crossed that she will stay a long time. Easy to get to and free parking. The place is always clean and peaceful. And compared to other places the monthly rate is very reasonable if you are a member. It forces me to prioritize my skin care. I also like that you can earn points if you book ahead and eventually get a free half hour or money toward products. read more

I went here back in September with my mom. She had signed up to be a member in Wilmette and had a crappy experience. This one is a lot closer so we gave it a try. She booked me for an hour and a half massage and it was lovely. The staff was also very kind. When I had finished my massage, the front desk staff told me that I could get a membership for $50 a month and be part of a family plan given that my mom was already a member. In September, I had just started a new job and was not in a place to become a member. Then, for Christmas, my husband tried to get me a membership. I've been a member at this location since January. I've always found the staff to be pleasant. I've had 3 different therapists there and all have been amazing. The only issues are that they've "lost" my appointment twice (luckily I call the morning of to reconfirm and after realizing a reservation made was not there, they "fit" me in). And like some other reviewers, although I arrive on time, an hour massage is always shy of a full hour, not sure why. As I'm locked in for the year, there is not much one can do but grin and bear it. I am sorely disappointed in the over the phone customer service I received. I had an appointment scheduled for this evening and I called Yesterday about 5:15 because something had come up and I was not going to be able to make it, and the young woman who answered the phone decided it was necessary to tell me she was "waiving the cancellation fee for same day service but next time I would be charged the 50% cancellation fee for a same day cancel." After which I kindly reminded her that I was not same day cancelling as I was calling more than 24 hours before my scheduled appointment, with which she replied "oh well I am just telling you what your contract states" I am not sure what happened between the first time I went and yesterday but it sorely makes me regret my decision to become a member, also in that call she informed me my credit card on file needed to be updated but I could do that when I came in, which is because my bank said there had been fraud on my other so they cancelled it and sent me a new one so I get that but there was no need to make me feel like I was in the wrong all the way around. Very disappointing service, I actually enjoyed the girl who signed me up and the therapist I saw but if she's (meaning the girl yesterday) any indication of the rest of the staff I will not be going back. read more

I have had a few different massage therapists here - Racie and Brittney were both very good. My husband is also a member and he loves Carrie Ann! I wish I could remember the other therapists that we have had - we have both liked all of the therapists that we have tried. The front desk staff is always friendly and helpful to me. Some of the reviews complain about the massage being under an hour. Although I would love a full hour massage, they are very clear about the 5 minutes before and after the massage and that the massage itself is 50 minutes. I like the flexibility that I can use my membership massage as a 60 minute monthly massage or that I can combine into a 90 minute massage or use it for a facial. I like the tranquility waiting room. My husband scheduled a one hour massage for me for my bday. Here's how it went down: They called to inform me that they are reserving an appointment for me at a specific date and time and asked for a call back to confirm. Surprised by my generous gift I immediately called back to confirm. A gentleman answered and told me I did not have that appointment time and it wasn't available. Disappointed I went on to explain that I had just received a phone call and now I'm getting an email stating I had this appointment reserved for me. I was able to schedule the appointment after 10 very confusing minutes. I arrive for my new client appointment twenty minutes early as requested by them. 10:40am I am warmly greeted by Kayla, whom hands me paperwork to be filled out. She graciously explains the paperwork then brings me a glass of water. Sweet! 10:46am I turn in my paperwork and Kayla checks to see if everything is filled out properly. She then immediately whisks me back to give me a complete tour of the spa, explains the massage is 50 minute touch with two five minute dressing periods at the start and end, answers my questions, I use the restroom. 10:52am I return to the tranquillity room as Kayla requested to wait for my therapist. Kayla popped in one last time to review my specific requests of my massage. "it's my bday gift from my husband". She was excited to tell me they offer free aromatherapy for bday guests. Wonderful!! I'll take the stress relief. 11am this is the time I was scheduled for and I'm still waiting in the tranquillity room. 11:15am my therapist finally comes to get me. She gives me 5 minutes to undress. 11:20am she comes back in and said "it's 11:20 now. I can take you until noon because after that I have a break." Now I'm kinda upset! The massage was ok only due to the fact that I kept thinking about the audacity of this therapist and I realized they didn't even give me the aromatherapy Kayla was so happy to offer! In my opinion this was totally unprofessional. 11:59am she tells me it's time to get dressed. She meets me in the hall with a glass of water and tells me to come 2x a week for an hour and a half massage BUT that I should arrive on time for my appointment!! When I told her I was checked in by a quarter to 11 she responded with, "oh, that's my bad then". Uh, yeah it is. I thanked her. Gave her a tip she didn't deserve in the first place and proceeded to the front desk to pay and get outta there. The only reason this place got 3 stars and not 1, was because of Kayla's impeccable professionalism. She comped my massage (that I was ready to pay for) and gave me the aromatherapy lotion to take home. She couldn't apologize enough. Thank you Kayla for your courtesy! Your service was amazing and because of this, I may return to give a different therapist a shot. However, I do not recommend Claudia as your therapist because your time and money are not valuable to her. read more

I had a schedule appointment with Nikki at 3 pm on a Sunday. I walk in to be greeted by Connie, the "Manager." She shows me around and has me sit in the tranquility room to wait for my therapist. I was 15 min early. 3 PM rolls around, 3:10, 3:25 i get up and walk to the front desk. Connie, gasps in shock, saying "I forgot you were back there! Your therapist isnt coming in.." At no point did anyone come to inform me of the situation. I asked Connie what she is going to do to fix the problem, she said "I wont charge you for the massage." Well no SH*T CONNIE. I have been a patron of this location since 2014 when my husband and I signed up for a family package. I have only had one therapist, Brian. I will not see any other therapist, as he was who it was recommended I see as I suffer from several chronic pain conditions. When I first began seeing him he had to use a very light touch on me, but as time has gone on, he's been able to use a much deeper touch. Due to needing surgery, I didn't see him for almost 3 months and recently went back to him. We were both surprised on how he needed to go back to using the light touch. He's a wonderful addition to my health routine! I have been treating with nothing but professionalism and respect from every member of staff. I am actually surprised to read some of the negative reviews, as none of the things I've read have happened to me in my almost 2 years of going there at least monthly. read more

My friend and I had massages last night. I will never go to another Massage Envy and nor will my friend I understand this is a chain, but I had no idea what we were about to experience. A massage is supposed to be relaxing and there is certain ambience that is expected. This place has no lockers, no spa water, no slippers or robes, no mood lighting or spa music. I asked the lady at the front desk for some water and she handed me water in a paper Dixie cup! The room itself was an offensive green color with a flimsy purple blanket on the massage table. I could forget all of this if the massage had been worth it. My therapist asked me if the pressure was OK and I told her to go a little firmer and that lasted about 25 seconds. The entire massage felt like she was just putting lotion on my body. As I was lying on the table, I could only hope that my friend was having a better experience but hers was just as bad. I don't know if it was because our massages were at 8 PM on a Tuesday night or what, but we will never come back. It's not worth it. read more

I was very frustrated with my scheduling experience, and not just at this location. I had put on my online profile that I was in need of a prenatal massage with firm, deep pressure. I scheduled at three locations and got phone calls saying that the massage therapist I requested was not certified for the prenatal at each. Also, before one location told me that I was scheduled with a massage therapist who was not qualified for pre-natal they called to schedule my appointment either 15 minutes ahead or behind. When I called back, they said I didn't need to do that. They called me the next day and cancelled because he wasn't certified for pre-natal services. Why did these massage therapists pop up as an option for me if they were not qualified? I then was told when I got to the location that the massage that I scheduled with, who I did call to ensure was prenatal certified, only did soft massage and not firm and deep. Again, why did she show up as an option for me should she not meet the qualifications of my online profile? Her massage services were fine, but they were not at all what I wanted when I had come expecting a deep, firm muscle massage and got a very light touch rub down. My parents and brother and sister in law both speak so highly of Massage Evy which made me want to try it for a prenatal massage. I was highly disappointed with my experience which is disappointing considering how high of expectations I had. read more

They want to charge you without warning if you need to cancel. I purchased a gift certificate for my teenaged daughter. I rescheduled an appointment she had then on the day of the appointment they called to confirm and my daughter actually had to camel and was told they would NEED to charge her a portion of her Christmas certificate because she canceled same day. I purchased the gift and wasn't made aware of that policy and I rescheduled the appointment and was not told that was their policy. Only on the day of the appointment do they call to confirm and then let her know she'll be charged. My daughter tried to reschedule with Marisa (the manager) and was told she would still be charged because the massage therapist would not be available later in the day. Really Marisa no one?! I called and spoke with Marisa to see if they could waive the charge since this was the first time we heard about the policy and was told because its "corporate policy" there was nothing neither she nor the owner Matt could do about it. Really?! Well guess what there's something I can do about it. You just lost customers. Do better. Whatever happened to the customers always right? A little customer service goes a long way.
