Scheduled a massage days ago for this afternoon, but began running a high fever in the middle of the night and have upper respiratory symptoms this morning. Called this morning to reschedule my appointment, as the flu has been going around work and I felt I was doing my due diligence in keeping their staff safe, and was told I would still be charged 100% of the fee today. To RESCHEDULE, not cancel. The staff member on the phone was aware of why I felt it best to reschedule, but stated it was company policy. Booked online, the price was $95, was charged $130. Went in for neck and specifically right shoulder tightness with pain into right arm. It was not addressed at all. After 'flipping' over, my arms and thighs were 'rubbed'. No neck,shoulder or head at all. Never had a worse massage. Absolutely awful! read more

I actually have had a decent experience here. I have been twice. I have tried two therapists so far. The first was only for lymphatic drainage and I honestly felt it was too deep for a true lymphatic massage. The second massage was better in my opinion. It was a mix of lymphatic drainage and a light to medium massage. I typically like a firm massage but because I am trying to get my lymph to move that has been more important. I have booked again with the second therapist. The front desk has been extremely helpful with transferring my account from a different location which was closing and answering detailed questions about the process and about the therapists and their skill sets. I had only been a member for a few months before the previous location announced they were closing. When I signed up, I was given three "free massage" cards, two of which I gave to a loved one to use as long as I was a member and one I kept. Unfortunately, the Murphy location refused to honor them stating it was that franchise owner's perk and not a ME perk. I guess I cannot fault them but it is extremely dissappointing and embarrasing to have to tell the recipient of the gift. We will see as time goes on if I made the right choice to transfer to this location. So far, it has been decent. read more

On April 21st, I booked a 90min massage with Emmelynn specifically at Murphy Marketplace because I wanted a long, deep massage after a rough month at my work. This was the worst service experience of my life. From our first minute together, Emmelynn began by insulting me -- joking about how I'm dehydrated, sedentary, and lying about any activity or diets I said I had. She continued to berate me for the entirety of the appointment. She dug into my mental health concerns saying I should stop taking my anti-depressants and get vitamin shots. She insulted my weight and told me to get on a keto diet to reduce my fat. She mocked my age and said "you're so naieve and giddy you remind me of my daughter in law". The whole time, Emmelynn would talk at full volume and disrespect me piece by piece -- not quite relaxing. I specifically and repeatedly asked for firm to deep pressure. Emmelynn would repeatedly laugh at me and say "no one ever knows what that means the deepest I'll go is medium because I don't want you complaining to someone about how I hurt you and you're so sore." She would ask me if her medium pressure hurt and when I'd say "no, you can go deeper in that spot," she would say "You must be some kind of a masochist." and then not even go deeper. For an hour and a half I had my health, appearance, life, and attempt at relaxation torn apart infront of me for her own entertainment or something. This is an emotionally charged review but it's because this experience was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I've had. I was naked -- emotionally and physically, and demeaned in a dark room with a woman who made fun of my entire being. This was a $180 service. I was so shell-shocked and on auto-pilot by the time of checkout I paid, tipped, said "it went fine," and left to sob in my car for an hour. More than a waste of money I feel like it was stolen from me. Just a despicable "service" and I am now loudly telling everyone I know to avoid Massage Envy, the Murphy Marketplace location, and especially Emmelynn. I don't think a lifetime of free massages could ever make me go back to this company or location. Just a horrific, dehumanizing experience. read more

I really liked one of the girls who did my massages there. Tried out one of their facials and had one of the people who does facials try to sell me products on the side, she raised the price so that she would profit from me. When I decided to canceled my membership they continued charging me, stating they never talked to me 2 weeks prior. So I was charged another monthly fee of 70.00. Now I have to drive up there and prove that I called to cancel my membership with my phone bill. Ridiculous! They won't just cancel it and credit my account. Try another place! Don't recommend! Hand and Stone is much easier to work with. I recommend going there. read more

I was until recently a massage therapist at this location. I left because I am moving out of state but I wanted to post my review of the services I have received at this location. In my time working there I received three different massages from three of my fellow therapists. Chen, Jeremy and Les are all excellent therapists. Chen's massage is soothing and is the only massage I have ever fallen asleep during! Jeremy does an excellent medium to deep full body massage. Les is great at identifying and alleviating specific issues, I went into the massage with my back hurting and came out with it feeling better. It was the most effective massage I have experienced. I have heard great things about all of the therapists there but can only personally attest to these three. I highly recommend them. Guests and clients, try and remember to show up on time if not a little early. We all really want to give you your full time but most of us are booked back to back. read more

Don't ever go to this business. I bought my daughters gift cards for massages for Mothers Day. One daughter went to this location. They took her gift card and the next day said the gift card had already been used. Which is a lie. This store then charged my daughter for her terrible massage on her credit card. I had already paid for the massage so we were double charge. After many calls to the manager she expects me to figure out the card issue by calling other locations. I've contacted the BBB and a attorney. BTW the person who gave her the massage had obviously been drinking and appeared to have a foot fetish. Run from this store. read more

I walked into the Murphy,TX location on Saturday looking to gift my parents a couples massage. The rep explained they don't have packages, but told me they can do a 60 or 90 minute option and I can add enhancements, and throughout the entire process, he was not confident presenting numbers, allegedly gave me a discount (which I've yet to see), and then told me my total was $220. After questioning the total, we went through all the enhancement options, and then discussed gratuity not being included, so I added gratuity. I was then told the total is $430. Which was fine. I gave the guy my card and while I waited for him to finish putting notes in the system and explaining the process I asked for the physical gift card to present to my parents and the rep told me, "THERE ISN'T A PHYSICAL CARD BUT WE CAN MAKE THEM AN ACCOUNT SO EVERYTHING IS SAVED WHEN THEY COME IN." I tiredly said okay and proceeded to provide my parent's names and numbers. I was then told they could call, schedule online or come in to book their appointments. I asked for a receipt for my purchase and the guy said the transaction went through, and he would have to email it. I gave him my entire email address and was told it would be sent in minutes. I have yet to receive a receipt. I called and asked to speak with a manager. The manager, did not introduce herself by name but proceeded to say "I am the manager" and placed me on hold to look at my account. She came back and said my gift cards were ready for pickup. I asked to know about my receipt and she began to tell me what I paid for. I was so confused and irritated, I asked for a refund, and she said no we don't do refunds. For gift cards and services that I have yet to receive???? And don't want to receive at this point due to unprofessional service and incompetence?? I had to disconnect the call and calm down. When I calmed down I called back and the same rude manager answered and said my cards were ready for pickup. No apology. No explanation. I proceeded to tell her I no longer want them nor should I be picking up these cards that I was previously told were not available. After placing me on hold, she returned to say there was a miscommunication and after reviewing the footage, it appears I refused to accept the gift cards??? This is literally not true. This never happened. She said her associate has been there 3 years and would not sell gift cards and not give them out. I can't make this up. I wanted her to understand that even if that was the case, that's not my point. I'm not sure if this business is serious but I just need my $430 back. I requested this directly from the business and I'm being told no, come pick up the cards. Before I dispute this with my bank, FOR NO SERVICE RENDERED, I need massage envy to make this right. I have yet to sign anything or receive a receipt or even receive these suddenly available gift cards. I'm disgusted! Mind you the $430 is just pending on my account. I can't even dispute it yet so I'm coming out of pocket again to pay MASSAGE BLISS &CRYO in Sachse, very professional and PLEASANT, $280.00 for what I expected Massage Envy to do. This manager is a liar, and the sales guy is INCOMPETENT. Nice but incompetent and he didn't send a receipt as requested or promised. At this point it's a scam. I have repeatedly tried to give this location another chance and the benefit of the doubt but they continuously disappoint. The staff continues to change and they have had to rebook my appointments continuously and repeatedly when I contact staff to follow up on anything nobody has a clue as to what I'm talking about or what they can or cannot do or have information about. When my masseuse walked into the waiting room to get me, I thought she was just the hostess walking me to my room. Not personable at all! No hello, how are you, or my name is_____. When we got to the room she asked what body parts needed attention, and still hadn't introduced herself, no smile, nothing. I asked if she was my masseuse and she said yes. I asked what her name is and she said Cassidie. (Still no personal greeting) Then she told me to lie face down on the bed and left the room. I've never been to a masseuse who had such poor unfriendly bedside manner. I was thinking about requesting someone else because I'm very much in tune with energy people give and felt I wouldn't be able to relax with her. The massage was ok, but each time I've been to one the masseuse asks you to turn your head to the side instead of just turning your head. If I wasn't vacationing with my friend who has a membership, I would have cancelled. You may want to train Cassidie to be more welcoming and pleasant. I've been a on/off member here for a few years. Recently, the service and attention to logistical details have declined. Scheduling is poor, third time warrants this review. Scenario #1- I was on time for my scheduled 90minute. My masseuse (his 1st day) was late and completed only a 60minute. I mentioned my disappointment at checkout while the manager listened from the office with no effort to assist. I tipped for the massage and moved on with life, figuring my dude was having 1st day issues. Forward progress. #2- scheduled a 90minute with a veteran masseuse, that I really was fond of until he fell asleep in my massage. No ish... true story! Again, I said nothing on account of feeling like a B- since that clearly would get someone fired and honestly, it was during COVID. Life was hard, work was worse, so I figured my dude had the hard knock life and I just wouldn't schedule with him anymore. #3 brings me to today- where it's obvious, I have decided to Karen this mess up. I scheduled a 90minute online, got a call saying they needed to re-organize the schedule to maximize the time. In order to do that my 90minute needs to be downgraded to a 60minute with a time change. I agreed. I arrived early to be taken back nearly 15mins after my scheduled time. Keep in mind I'm fully aware of the 10minutes you concede to drsg time- 5mins before and 5mins after. I should say the massage was WONDERFUL even with it being a 40min massage and not the 50mins I was due for. So at check out, I tipped my masseuse because again the massage was great and I said to Hannah at the desk- I was taken back at 45past the hour and not at 1/2 past, so shouldn't I be checking out at the 45 past mark? My massage started late, we can confirm this because the lady before me finished late- she responded with Oh, I do see I checked "Name" out at c:36p so yes, you should've had more time for a late start, sorry. Let me see if I can help Hannah understand. You see that is 10minutes of massage time, that's kind of a big deal, wouldn't you agree? If I paid for a 60minute shouldn't I at least get the 50minutes I'm entitled to? Her response, No freaking lie..."Well, for me personally it's not a big deal, but if it is for you, I can leave a message for the manager." Yea, Hannah, Please do go above and beyond and grab your pencil and post its and make note that for me personally, poor customer service will negate a great service by the people doing the actual work. Because I want to resume regular services, I decided to become a member to keep,the cost down. Alternatively the pay as you go prices are very high. This is a GREAT place. I just moved to Texas and normally do massage about once a month. Since my move however I've not been able to go as much as I usually do.(I manage my fibro via massage.) Anyway, today was a pain day and was desperate for relief. I called the Murphy location at noon and they were able to get me in by 5 the same day!!! After 2 years of membership, my wife and I are finally leaving. It is almost impossible to get couples appointments, and when we do, it gets cancelled because there was "an emergency" at the Garland store, so I masseuse became "unavailable". It is increasingly difficult to schedule a "good" masseuse, because they leave or get fired. read more

The location closest to me is always booked for weeks in advance. Today is April 11 and I cannot get an appointment for 4pm or later at the Murphy location until May 3. I called the next closest location to me, Firewheel, to get a sooner appointment. A therapist is available this Thursday at the time I want. I told the receptionist my name and that I am a member at another location. She was not able to pull my information because her system was down. She told me to call back tomorrow, and hopefully the problem will be fixed then. I asked if she could go ahead and save the appointment for me and pull the member information tomorrow. She told me no because she would have to create a non-member profile for me at their location and save a credit card information. The system will not let her run credit cards at this time either. I have had multiple issues with scheduling over the past several months at the Murphy location. I have even requested to cancel my membership because it is so inconvenient. However, I was informed that I would still have to pay out the remainder of my yearly membership. At this point I have accumulated unused massages because I cannot get in during the hours I'm off work. When my membership is over in July, I will not be renewing it due to the reoccurring problems with scheduling and the unaccommodating staff. I will not recommend Massage Envy to anyone as well. read more

From Lauren at the front desk to the therapists in the back they make you feel so important. Mary-is amazing, Christina is so inviting and Cory is great at what he does. I would have agree with another reviewer regarding this location. I started coming to this location a couple of years ago when I moved to the area. I had a couple of great therapists that I loved but has since left. I came back late last year and have had 4 massages since renewing as a member. Of the 4 massages, with one, he had his phone in his pocket. How do I know this? It would vibrate multiple times during the massage. Conveniently, shortly after the vibration, one hand was being used for the massage. Considering I live with a retired massage therapist, I know for a fact that therapists are trained to always have 2 hands on the client for many reasons. After that, I asked for another, more experienced, therapist. Knowing a good therapist is booked all the time, I was okay with waiting a month only to be called to say they have to reschedule me with another therapist due to medical reasons. As an incentive, I was promised a free "add-on" but there was no follow-up on that promise. Found another therapist I liked, waited another month for my appointment, only to be called the day of the appointment and told the therapist is a no show. While I am not surprised by this, the handling of the situation was crappy. Their customer service is definitely a D-. The direct comment from the front desk clerk was "well, we at the front desk have no control over this..." No, but you can control how you manage the situation. She then said "if you want an appointment today, you can call another location and see if they have an opening..." So...I am now responsible for solving the problem by taking time out of my day to find another location and hope they have an opening to resolve your staffing issue? 2 of 5 appointments have to be rescheduled, and the others were no good sessions to begin with. They need to really step it up over there at the Murphy Massage Envy. At this point, I am ready to cancel my contract. read more

Unfortunately massage envy in Murphy has let me down again. Every 3 or so months I get contacted stating my card has expired (not accurate and no change has taken place, plenty of funds) I went down for a massage and facial and when I got there and got checked in I was told that the massage therapist cannot do my massage because I was pregnant. I have been there twice since being pregnant and each time have specifically notified them I am pregnant when scheduling. Then they said I can just do my facial. My facial consisted of rinsing my face and moisturizing it. No exfoliation, no extractions or steam. Started 10 minutes late and ended 10 minutes early. Complete waist of time and money. I have been with massage envy for over 3 years and can say I have had many issues with scheduling, payments etc. It's poorly managed at each location I have tried. I have cancelled my membership after this latest incident and will try out a competitor. read more

I went in person to cancel my membership on 9/22/18. I called a week later it was still not cancelled, and they charged my credit card $55 on 9/27. I called 5 times to talk to Manager, Brittany. She was never there....off, sick, etc. Courtney at the front desk was very pleasant each time I called so frustrated. I finally got a call on 10/6/18 from Brittany. She told me it was cancelled that day. She told me they have 10 days to cancel memberships after you complete form, so they could still run my credit card during that time. I wish I didn't have to give them even 1 star because I have been trying to cancel my membership for months. The problem is, they will not allow me to cancel over the phone. They just recently emailed a form for me to fill out. I have 7 prepaid sessions stacked up that they want me to use in a 60 day period. They won't just refund me and leave it at that. I have explained to them that this is not possible for me because I broke my ankle in May, and it hasn't healed yet. On top of that, they keep telling me to come into their location, and I have repeatedly told them that I am unable to do that as well, because I moved from Texas to Florida in June. Recently, I have been in the process of closing my Tx bank account, and my debit card just expired last month. I haven't updated my payment info with Massage Envy because I thought I could just keep the sessions I have already paid for, and just not be charged for anymore. Use them until they're gone, right? WRONG.. They have frozen my account so that I CAN'T USE WHAT I ALREADY PAID FOR, and are threatening to send me to collections for failure to pay, unless I update my payment info and allow them to keep scamming me out of $60 each month. I have had several issues with them over the years as well. Their appointment cancellation use to state that a call with in 3 hrs on the day of was required minimum.. They changed that to 24 hrs prior without notifying me, so when I did call the day of, 3 hrs prior, they told me that I was still going to be charged. However, it is perfectly ok for them to call me and cancel my appointment same day with no warning, and explain to me that they have nothing else available for the loss of MY time and scheduling conflicts. They have also had several therapists quit and come back so many times, that when I thought I was finally getting into a routine, they would call me and say that I had been given to another therapist because mine was no longer with them, and then tell me that my current therapist was already booked. BOTTOM LINE... Their business plan is not designed for the customer AT ALL. This company is criminal and their service is a SCAM. I just want my money back and to be done with them. read more

I have been a member of Massage Envy since 2006 as I followed a therapist from another practice here. He is superb, the best trigger point therapist I've ever found. But...there are many issues with the front desk at this location. Today I missed a call for a reminder of an appointment I have tomorrow so I called back to confirm. The front desk advised that my appointment was with another therapist. I stated that no my appt was with the ONLY therapist I see at this location and I was then advised that he was booked. There have been issues in the past with scheduling as well as check in. They're driving customers away with a high turnover front desk staff. read more
