I had an amazing experience today! Had deep tissue massage with Frank. OMG! It hurt sooo good. The knots and tension in my shoulders and back were ridiculous! I even cried and felt released trauma. Left feeling the weight of life's stress and worries off my shoulders. And for the first time in over a year, I was able to turn my head chin to shoulder on both sides! Felt light as a feather. Frank was the best! To the manager, Christina,.. THANK YOU! Our short convo meant everything read more

I scheduled a last minute massage and therefore didn't have much of a choice on who the massage therapist was - that was a huge mistake. In the 50+ massages I've had over the years - I've never in my experience had a massage therapist continue a conversation through the session. I felt rude not answering questions so I continued answer and be polite. Big mistake. When I was instructed to flip over (from my stomach to back) the male therapist lifted up my sheet exposing my body which he could clearly my body. Thinking back to this experience I'm really upset. I wish I had called it out in the moment - but again in my 50 + massages at various locations I have NEVER had a therapist expose my nude body and casually look. I feel so disgusted and I will no longer be going to this location. read more

This is the worst massage envy I have ever gone to and I get massages and facials often. The manager Christina called me a b**** when I tried cancelling my membership, after I was told it would be easy and I only needed a doctor's note. After a month of harassment I sought legal advice was able to, but not without stress and jumping through hoops and being told I needed to provide additional paperwork to cancel my membership and that they cannot process the cancellation until you complete the paperwork, which is false. To become a member you sign an agreement, not a contract, which you can terminate anytime because of any clause. Do not go to this massage envy, sign up for their membership, or any other. Save your time, money, and sanity. read more

I called three minutes before my scheduled 3:00 PM appointment to ask if walk-ins were being accepted. The representative confirmed that there was an appointment for 3:00 PM for 60 minutes. I arrived at 3:05 PM but had to park in the back due to no available parking in front. After briefly stopping at the restroom, I entered the massage room at 3:10 PM. My massage therapist smelled strongly of marijuana, which I chose to overlook. However, the session itself was unsatisfactory. Despite marking my lower back as an area of focus on the intake form, that area was not massaged at all. I had requested a full body massage with emphasis on my neck. While the neck was addressed, the rest of the treatment was incomplete. To make matters worse, the therapist ended the session at 3:50 PM, telling me that I was late and that this was only a 50-minute massage. This was shocking, as I booked and was quoted for a 60-minute session. Adding insult to injury, I later discovered that the online price was listed at $99 for 60 minutes, but I was charged $145 for 50 minutes (40 mins in reality because the massage started at 3:12 and finished at 3:50) . I was told the missing 10 minutes were considered a "consultation," yet I had no consultation when I entered the building. This was the worst massage I have ever experienced--not only at this location but at any massage service. The misleading pricing, lack of professionalism, poor quality of service, and disregard for my requests were unacceptable. I would not recommend this location to anyone and feel very dissatisfied with the overall experience. PS: I left the building crying because of how bad my experience was!!! I could not believe what happened to me. read more

Worst Massage Envy in the history of this franchise. The manager is a piece of garbage and literally chased me onto the sidewalk to have a fight with me after I left the clinic. Never ever ever purchase their membership program. You won't be able to book time because they don't have enough therapists, You'll end up accruing more time than you can ever use, and you can't cancel your membership or you'll lose your accrued time. It's just a scam. I've been trying to get out of this contract for years and I'm finally giving up and just canceling and walking away from whatever time I have accrued. No wonder they've had several lawsuits about this and lost each and everyone. read more

This is by far the worst experience in my life. I booked for an hour massage with Brittany, and the so called therapist was rude and snappy right from the start. She started the massage by applying extreme pressure to a point of pain. I don't even think she studied the human anatomy. A rib is not a muscle!! The front desk staff was also not professional. I will not recommend this place. STAY AWAY!! read more

Decided to treat my mom to a 60 min facial for Mother's Day! They had a great special. I've never been here before so I asked a lot of question. I wanted to be sure that I didn't sign up for something I didn't want or need. The young lady was helpful and answered my questions. I believe my mom will really enjoy this gift. read more

Scroll down to Pamala G's comment. Everything she's saying is true. I just had the same exact experience at this Massage Envy location. Something illegal is happening behind the scenes. If you have a membership here, I suggest you cancel ASAP before you're stuck with expensive pre-paid sessions that they'll refuse to allow you use. This location is taking money and refusing to render the services paid for. read more

I'm so OVER this "massage" program. It's a crap shoot. They have my money for 12 months of service. Aftern canceling my subscription effective December 31, I have two credits on record for which two appointments were scheduled. They canceled one of my scheduled appointments because the therapist quit (big surprise), and when I called to reschedule, was told I could not get that (paid for) credit without giving them a new credit card AND that my current scheduled appointment would be canceled if I did not give them another credit card. What? This dirty, non-customer-friendly, money-grabbing, massage program needs to be shut down. read more

After having a bad experience last year, I decided to try this location again. The service providers were always excellent as I previously had an issue with the new owner and management. I received a massage and facial last week. The customer service was amazing. The receptionist at the front desk needs an award for her patience and explaining every detail of how different franchises work. Obviously the owners and management read customer feedback. Well, it worked. I will continue to go back to this location. read more

Regularly canceled appointments to the point where it wasn't possible to keep up with backlogged appointments unless you extend subscription. Subscription is a scam. Staff said two different things about transfer fees and then acted like I was making stuff up. Therapists are not great. They reply to these reviews on google and say to leave details on obscure link or to call manager so they can assist, but they don't actually do anything. read more

Never sign up for a membership here. Liked the lady I spoke to but didn't realize it was a 12 month contract. I can't commit to a monthly membership and called to cancel within 24hours. I was hung up on and wasn't until I emailed corporate that I got a call back that I needed to come in person to cancel. I went in person to cancel was told id receive an email confirmation. I never received that email and here we are 30 days later with a monthly membership charge to my account. I called to see why and was told that my membership was still active and there is nothing they can do. I asked to speak to a manager and they told me they don't have a number or an email to contact her. She put me on hold came back with a bogus gmail account to I guess get me off the phone for me to contact. If you go here please never sign up for the membership it's like a death trap and you'll never get out of it. But I'm getting out of this because this is unacceptable. Think twice please! read more

I used to like this place. But after months of being told I would be contacted by management with regards to my military discount, I still have not received it, not have I ever been contacted by management. I will not be going to this location, not any other location that is ran by this owner. I had first spoke to someone about it when I signed up out here after we moved here. I had a membership at the last place we were stationed & had my military discount there. Showed my military ID when I signed a new contract out here and the girl never put the discount on my account. This was PRE-COVID 19. You'd think that after every that has gone with the pandemic, that places would actually work harder at keeping the current customers they have while still working to get new ones. Not this place. Management just want to bring in the money and not own responsibility for their job. Here it is the end of May 2021 & management still hasn't fixed the error on my account. I have repeatedly emailed and even sent in person. Conveniently, nobody there at the time could do anything about it & I was told someone from management would contact me. Yep, still hasn't happened. Guess it's time to file a complaint with the BBB. read more

Note: I went about 1.5-2.5 years ago so perhaps their tactics have changed, but I won't be finding out. Here's my review: The environment was nice and soothing and the massage was just okay. What I didn't like, and what would make me never return to any ME locations is the hard sell they push at the end of your treatment. They knowingly take advantage of you when you're still trying to see straight after being so relaxed and more likely to not want to say no. Well they met the wrong person. And a shame, too, because I just planned a Bachelorette Brunch and Beauty day and we took our very good business elsewhere for pressure-free pampering. As a mom, I don't get a lot of opportunity to go for a massage- or any free time for that matter- and it just ruined my whole experience. What a waste of a morning. I left with a creepy feeling of having to tell someone no repeatedly and wanting to run out of there after I'd paid. She was even making suggestions about what she assumed were my finances/spending habits (no I don't drink Starbucks on a daily or at all for that matter!) so she could give bad advice on how to afford what I knew I deserved (because they use that annoying and creepy sales language to try and trap you into a the only answer that makes sense and the answer they want you to give: "don't you think you deserve to...") - a membership for regular massages. I should have said "lady, I also deserve for our necessary bills to be paid, and for our kids to have food to eat. I kinda think that's more important than shuffling you a guaranteed payment every month that could buy groceries instead." Try to fiscally responsible and there's always someone waiting with bad advice to bleed you dry. Rolling my eyes, I will NOT be returning. A tip: if you get that card for an affordable massage in the mail, recycle it and choose somewhere else. You get what you pay for, or maybe even worse. read more

It is a shame there are so many bad reviews. I have always had a great experience at ME. I had Danielle tonight and she was great. They are following all of the normal COVID protocols. Masks all the time and gloves. Which I don't mind because I want them to be safe. As far as the membership. I started mine in January 2020. Of course I barely used it before it was canceled. Luckily the the months I paid for show up as a credit on my account. I do not plan on renewing my membership since I prefer another local business for a massage. ME is great for most people. read more

On November 10, 2019 I walked into Massage Envy at the Laurel, MD location to cancel my membership. I completed the paperwork to cancel and was advised I would receive an email to my email address on file within 10 business days. Today is November 26, 2019. I have received several emails from Massage Envy---all advertisements, nothing regarding my cancellation. I contacted the location today to follow up and was advised it looked as if it was never processed and that I would net be charged for the next month and it would be taken care of by close of business today. I advised Nicole that was unacceptable and I wanted to speak to a manager or to corporate to expedite the cancellation (since it is past the 10 days) . I was then connected to "Friday" who advised the cancellation was processing and a manager would be in shortly to continue the process and I would receive a call by the close of business. I asked if I would receive an email confirmation, she advised no, just a phone call. I asked if everyone in the location was aware of the process because I was told on November 10 I would get an email. Friday mentioned they currently have new team members at the front desk who may not be familiar with the processes and they are working on that. The gist of my concern is that I had to travel across town to this particular location, which is no longer convenient for me since I do not live in that area, just to cancel. I followed their process and it failed. It amazes me how quickly we can unsubscribe from emails, apps, and monthly subscriptions, yet we have to fill out paperwork to cancel with Massage Envy. If I did not call, there would be no follow up on their end and I definitely would have been charged the next month. This is unacceptable and a bit deceiving. It seems as if the process is to set you up to continuously pay the monthly fee until you realize it has not been cancelled and of course by then it is too late. Change your process and train your employees. Bottomline, I will ensure I do not recommend this location and this company as a whole. read more

This ME location is clean, convenient and well staffed. Shea is awesome. I recommend the full body stretch and the massage.

The worst experience in my life. I won't recommend them to anyone in this world. Each time that I Had an appointment they cancel it before I made it to my appointment without calling me. I had a total of five visits and they kept cancel my appointment and kept withdrawing money out of my account. The managers and supervisor were very unprofessional. The supervisor told me she cancel my contract and gave me back my payment because they charge me twice two months. Here in January they called me and cancel my appointment and they owe me over five massages. They are sneaky because I change my credit card and they had a way to get my new credit card and keep charging my credit card. They are snake and sneaky. You cannot trust them. They are not the best but this was me and my daughter bonding time.. read more

The massage was OK. This was my first time at any Massage Envy but I'm aware you get no frills, just massage. So I go with my mother, we fill out the form. There's no lounge area or anywhere to really relax then you just go back for the massage. My massage was super oily then the hot towels were added and I just felt wet but overall the massage was fine. At the end, we go pay and I was asked was I over 18 because my therapist was concerned. My age is often debated but I'd rather be asked prior to the massage as opposed to feeling weird after. (Still never found out what the concern was.) Then they spent 20 minutes trying to sell a membership which I don't know why you would bother buying one when they are actual real spas in the area. Good luck. read more

I have been to other Massage Envy locations and this one was not great. I had purchased facials for my boyfriend and I. We asked if we could be in the room with each other and they said no, fine I guess. That kinda ruins it as now we just have to sit and wait for each other (when I booked I tried to book massages and facials but they did not have an opening for massages). So we go in for the facial and it was sub par. You could tell she was just going through the motions and really didn't know what she was doing. She asked me what my problems were and I said my skin is dry, and later she said to me oh your skin is dry. I just told you that. She didn't run the steamer very long (which is what opens up your pours) and did extractions for like 3 min (I like facials mainly for the extractions). The chemicals she used burned a little, and when I told her she just wiped off . She did not change what she was doing based on my type of skin. My face doesn't look any different and it is still just as dry and when I came in. She basically just washed my face really well. Now it is time to pay and this is where it gets fun. The receptionist goes oh you have a membership, I said I do not. She goes you signed up in Miami (I live in MD). I said no I haven't even been to Miami. She goes well you need to call them. Why do I need to call, why can't you call. So I call and the lady in Miami goes, yes it is a glitch. The receptionist needs to call the help desk. I'm not sure if she ever did but I will be calling today to make sure I do not have a membership. How a company automatically signs you up for a monthly membership without your consent is beyond me. Needless to say, this location was not trying to offer any additional help. I will not be returning here as it is a waste of money. My advice is go get a facial somewhere else with a person who actually knows what they re doing. read more

Our service was horrible at Massage Envy. My 38 week pregnant wife and I had a massage scheduled for 11 - 12. My wife was getting a prenatal massage and I was going to get a regular one at the same time, a couples massage. We arrived 30 minutes early because we didn't want to rush our time and it would give us some time to relax. Well when we arrived they had us fill out the paper work, which was not too bad. Maybe took 5 minutes. They sent us back to their "relaxation room" to wait for our massage therapists. Well after waiting for about 40 minutes they come to us around 11:20 and said they couldn't do my wife's prenatal massage till around 11:30 - 11:45. What was horrible even though our appointments were to start at 11, we would need to be done by 12 because they have other customers in line, so we needed to sacrifice our 1 hour massage to less then 15 minutes. What shocked me was they were going to still charge us the full charge if we wanted to do it. What is great is this is my second interaction with them. The first time was 2 days earlier where they credited my account because of their sarcastically excellent customer service. It's amazing at the audacity and arrogance of this company blows my mind. I do give this promise to Massage Envy, I will make sure that everyone that I know will know our story and your poor customer service and how you fail at trying to correct your mistakes. You people almost made my 38 week pregnant wife cry and to me that makes you a horrible company. I really sarcastically appreciate you all wasting our time. read more

I am a first time patron who was prepared to become a repeat customer, perhaps even a member. I booked my appointment through the app. I selected my service, the firmness and my aromatherapy add-ons. I get there and as the front desk receptionist is going over the procedures, she mentions that I won't be able to ask for increases/decreases in pressure because I'm booked with Frank and he only does deep tissue. Pardon, but I specifically booked a medium firmness service. I double checked multiple times, and Frank was listed as a masseuse that provided medium, firm, and deep tissue massages. She goes in the back to speak to someone, comes back out and says "okay your appointment has been removed, so your good to go. I don't know why the website says that. Sorry about that." Huh? I'm dismissed just like that? No offer of a discounted service due to the miscommunication on YOUR part? No offer to do the legwork to get me rescheduled asap? I will not be returning to this establishment. And it looks like I should have read the reviews before booking anyway - poor customer service is a running theme at this place. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I got a message wanting to spoil myself thinking it'll be such a great first time experience and I was completely mistaken. For starters I am told to arrive early to my appointment to fill paper work and sure that is understandable but they ask too many non-professional questions. They use this see through strategy on wanting to know about your life and why you're here to sell you a stupid membership. Stop asking me questions that are personal like my job, if i have kids/how many, what I do in my free time. It is so unprofessional. I'm here for a massage only not for you to know all about my business. The massage was good and you can tell the therapist enjoys the job. But it is not a full 60min like it states when you buy and schedule, instead its about 40min. However, the experience after the massage is TERRIBLE. I am relaxed and ready to pay and leave, you'd think it'd be that simple but nope. They force you to talk to them for another 5 minutes or more trying to sell you a membership. Telling me its for my "well being" and all this nonsense no one wants to hear after a relaxing massage. After turning it down not once, twice, but THREE TIMES, they finally let me pay and go. This bad selling technique they have ruins the entire massage. If they would stop trying to force a membership on every person then maybe the experience wouldn't be so bad. Reading reviews makes me think I am not the only one who experiences this. read more

I've been experiencing extremely poor services from this location and have worked with 3 different so-call managers to correct issues with schedule cancellations, unsatisfactory services, false information, and overall lack of customer services! Every time I schedule an appointment it was asked to be reschedule less than 24hrs before the appointment with excuses such, unavailable staff, computer errors, and no available female staff. For the last 2yrs I haven't been able to enjoy any of my prepaid sessions which is around 8 total. Why is it that I have to rearrange my schedule because they are unable to control or manage their staff? This weekend, I went in for a hot stone couple massage and got a hot stone separate rooms massages. I was greeted with this information and was given 2 options - separate rooms for hot stone or a "regular" couple massages. A month before this appointment I had spoken to 2 different people who claimed to be managers (Krystal and Christina). My last conversation with Sasha I made it clear, I wanted a couple same room hot stone massage and I don't want a call back a few days before my appointment to reschedule this appointment. I also made it clear that if this appointment does not happen the way I requested that I will be cancelling my membership! Well, 2 days before this appointment I did get a couple of voicemails from ME but due to my work schedule and my overall frustration with them I was not able to return the calls (honestly, I didn't want to hear that I needed to reschedule). But instead I got the excuse due to the heat of the stones, we will need to be in separate rooms!!! My husband and I have had hot stone couple massages before from ME and this is the 1st time in my over 5yrs of membership that we couldn't be in the same room due to heat. I regretfully decided to do the separate rooms because I didn't want to reschedule again (mind you I scheduled this a month in advanced)... The lady that I had for my session was rude and argumentative when I expressed my front desk experience. I could tell she didn't want to continued with the appointment. She never asked how the pressure was or if the stones were ok to be placed on me (luckily is was fine), or even how I was feeling! She did below average massage and ended the session rudely, didn't stay to see me out or offer me anything. Definitely no thank you and have a nice day....I went to check out with a group of unprofessional and rude staffs. Before this appointment I had 4 different conversations with these so-call managers that promised to make my experience better but that NEVER happened! I had spoken with Krystal, Christina, and Sasha..all provided with false information and excuses every time I was on the phone with them! ME is so fast to take your money but when you want to use the services that is prepaid you can't seem to get the services! Whomever is the franchise owner should be more involved if they truly live up to the ME commitment to customer satisfaction and their members! I had membership with the Columbia, MD location for 5yrs never once experienced this type of service! I ONLY switched to Laurel, MD because it was closer! NEVER AGAIN, NOW trying to cancel this terrible experience and membership! read more

Do NOT get the membership. I turned my cancellation form in early November and they told me I would have 30 days to use up any unused massages AFTER a phone call from the manager. I didn't receive a phone call from the manager until December 14, when I called back the receptionist told me I did indeed have 30 days. I transferred over a unused membership to a family member but they told her she couldn't use it because my membership was cancelled. When I called on December 29th another receptionist told me my membership was indeed cancelled but that she would email the manager because there was nothing she could. Up until this date I have not received a call from anyone at Massage Envy. That was two unused memberships they ripped me off! They did the same thing to my mother. They ripped her off with 3 and half hours but offered her a special of $200+ to get 6 more. They cancelled her membership without her signing anything. She would make appointments to get a message but they kept rescheduling it because the masseuse was unavailable. read more

5 stars!! As a mental health professional, I have to be sure to have a good self care plan and part of my self care tool kit is my massage envy membership. I go at least twice a month for massages. I really enjoy their 90 minute massages. So relaxing! They also offer 60 and 90 minute facials. I haven't scheduled one yet but I look forward to it. I even purchased my dad and bf a membership. Horrible experience, unfortunately I cannot leave zero stars. I wish I would have read the reviews on Yelp prior to my appointment instead of the reviews on the website because most of the Yelp reviews are negative, and reflect my experience. The experience started off negative as the room was cold and did not put me in a relaxing state of mind. It felt like I was in a hospital room. I was expecting dim lighting, a nice aroma, and relaxing music but it was the complete opposite. Not only was the room cold but the massage oils were cold and did not have a pleasant scent. Nothing about this experience made me relaxed and comfortable. Overall, this was the worst experience and my first and last time visiting Massage Envy. read more

I'm gonna be honest...2 months ago I had no complaints about this location. I think they have a new manager who in my opinion is not very customer service oriented. I have been a member for about a year now and decided to freeze my account. I KNOW I have at LEAST one more paid massage left but the manager tells me they would have to unfreeze my account to find out. It was already a hassle to put a freeze on my account now I have to unfreeze it to see if I have what the heck is owed to me! I'm just gonna cancel membership altogether with this location. It's not worth the hassle. My masseuse Bisrat was the bomb tho...truly gonna miss him! read more

I have been going to this Massage Envy for several years now and have to say it's a great place. The massage therapists have all been professional and I can easily say I've never had a bad massage. I think I have had massages by most of their massage therapists and while some I prefer over others they all are good. My only complaint is that it is very hard to get in to schedule hour and a half times unless well in advance and/or if you're flexible about when you can go or which massage therapist you see. It would be nice if they had more 1 1/2 options for scheduling. But, I am glad I have a membership as it gets me to go and the massages really help with some back issues I've had and helps overall feeling relaxed and less stressed. Would definitely recommend. I did have one facial. The facial was ok but felt more like a sales pitch at times for the expensive products they sell. I think I'm going to focus on just the massages for now on. read more
