Ok, I received my first massage there an I was VERY impressed, but when I went there the second time it was a VERY BAD BUST. You are suppose to relax while getting a massage, not getting shocked with cold lotion they are putting on you. I get it you don't pay for the upgraded lotions/oils they use the basic but come on why does it need to be cold. Second it felt like I was getting a lotion rundown not a massage, I didn't feel any different then when I walked in. I thought about it multiple times of just stopping and leaving the massage but did feel like dealing with it. Massage E. I had a appointment December 31st at 9:00 for a 60 minute Firm body massage I had consultation with front desk person and was directed to the tranquil room I sat there for 30 minutes and asked if there was a delay. Both front desk girls looked at each other and asked me to go back and have a seat They would get back to me. Then one of the girls stated that the person doing my service had an emergency. WEIRD they did not know that before. I was offered a Full Body LED Therapy 40 Min Session at 9:30am which took 10 minutes to warm the table. It was 9:40 now This is not a comfortable treatment for a 70 year old person I stop the machine after 20 minute and left I feel I should of been given a gift card for my inconvenience read more

First time visit today with Danielle for a facial. I've never been here before or had a facial but it was a very pleasant and relaxing experience. My appointment was right on time and the place was peaceful and clean. Danielle explained everything she was doing and did a great job. Make sure to book your appointment well in advance if you want a certain day and person because they are very busy. Products were recommended afterwards but not pushed at all. The scheduler told me that a manager would get in touch with me in the next 3 days to discuss some sort of compensation but I haven't heard anything. I've been a member since 2013 and the Elmhurst location has gone way downhill. Never has availability, cancels massages, and they just push members to rack up unused massages. I didn't want to cancel because it's close and I have chronic back issues (plus 14 unused credits because they didn't give a break during the pandemic). After 10+years of being a member I decided it was time to cancel. I was told I had to use my last two paid appointments within 60 days. Of course, the day I called to cancel, my membership dues were set to renew for the next month so I ended paying again! I set my last two appointments but had to cancel my appointment in July as I came down with a temperature of 103.1 and headache-wasn't sure if it was Covid or the flu at the time. When I called to cancel the receptionist said it would not be a problem to reschedule. Fast forward, the manager said I had zero appointments on record and I needed to pay for my appointment in September-all appointments expire after 60 days once you cancel. This is not what I was told by the receptionist in July!!! Poor business practices and poor management at the Elmhurst location. read more

Availability for an experienced technician is a joke and impossible to schedule. This company is a scam to get your money but not to provide the service in their contract, so if you're thinking of joining, save yourself a headache and save your money for a independent owner that can provide you the service you are requesting. So, as an update, I finally used enough of my services that I could cancel my membership without losing a bunch of massages that I've paid for. So, yay! Perhaps my biggest frustration with this place is that they will occasionally offer you an upgrade or additional time on your service when they screw up. They screw up often, so I've been offered 4 upgrades and one upgrade of an additional 30 minutes over the course of my 18 months as a member. The problem is, they never actually note the account so the upgrades never happen. Adding insult to injury, the one time they offered me a 90 minute massage (after I had two massages in a row that were less than 45 minutes) they went ahead and added the time to my service but then also took 30 minutes of credit from my account. I emailed about it twice and asked in person twice. It still has not been corrected. It's incredibly frustrating. So glad to be done with this place. She was quiet but kept me informed of changes in temperatures of the products she was applying. Afterwards, she showed me the display with the products she used, available for purchase. First time here came in as a walk in... was given the introductory rate of $95 for 90 min massage. The prices are super high - normal non member price is $145 for 90 min. Front area did not look that well put together. Reception was very friendly. Had me fill out my current illnesses and concerns on an ipad for my masseuse to look over. All that went out the door when I met my masseuse Andy. Andy is a very large Eastern European man who does not know the word gentle. He asked me what I wanted and I told him leg and foot massage. He told me I must start with your back. I told him I have spinal issues disc degeneration ect. He told me he must relax it before he works on legs. He then began to knuckle my most sensitive areas of my back. I was in utter agony and he told me to breath and when it gets to a 9-10 pain level tell him. I told him I was at that level. He then said 4 more seconds we must loosen you up. He then for 90 minutes worked on my thighs and calves with deep deep tissue massage. Some times it felt good half the time it was painful. He then on the last 15 min worked my feet. Pushing his thumb in the middle of my foot it hurt really bad. He then stopped and went to get me water. The next day I was sore. I dont think the over all experience was bad just wish it was not so rough! Will I be back? Probably not. But go check this place out for yourself - this is just my experience! read more

My masseuse is the best I've ever had! She takes the time to listen to what I need and she can tell whay needs more work. Very clean room and they have heated beds. Front desk is always friendly and welcoming and go above and beyond! I went to a franchise 5 years ago and wasnt impressed. I recently moved near this one and thought I'd try it again and I love it! So after driving in from Arkansas my neck and back were in agony. While trying to get some sleep I booked an appointment online for the next day. The masseuse I scheduled called off for the day so they had me see Daisy. The initial experience was pretty unremarkable, but once Daisy started I couldn't have asked for better. First off she began with having me do some deep breathing which helped me focus on my breathing through the massage and relax. I don't really like chatter during a massage or to be constantly asked if everything is ok. Daisy let me enjoy the quiet which also helped me relax so that she could really work out the knots in my neck and shoulders. By the time she was done I couldn't believe how well I felt. That was yesterday and usually by now the effects have worn off. Not this time! I still feel great and would strongly recommend Daisy. read more

Cheap, Fraudulent, Worst Service, Disgusting Customer Service and Management. I only booked an appointment to use the gift card I received from a friend, this place is a chain and franchised and clearly their employees are not payed well at all. From the horribly pushy as hell front desk lady or sales woman to the ridiculous overpriced service (shortest service in history) $140 for one peel, this place is nothing but a joke and in it clearly for the $$$$$. When I checked out I was planning to use my gift card, which NO ONE WOULD CHECK THE BALANCE FOR ME AT ANY LOCATION NO ONLINE OR TELEPHONE OPTION, the woman behind the front desk is making faces and I can sense something and she says hmmm theres a zero balance. Hmmmmm thats weird because since I received the "gift card" Ive had it in only my wallet for a year. I further investigate after I end up paying FULL price for the ten minute joke of a service I received only to eventually find out from another rude as hell what they call "MANAGER" that the person who purchased the GC revoked privileges and I was told she actually used the gift card that she gifted to me two different occasions for her own services at a different location, which also happened to be the location she purchased it from. Never in my life have I heard of this, I run my own business and I ALWAYS have documented who the buyer and receive of gift cards are for this exact reason. And under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should the buyer or anyone other than the person with the actual gift card IN THEIR HAND at the time of use. Well, Massage Envy apparently offers their "MEMBERS" to use the gift cards they have purchase to gift to others (or at least one would think thats what is done with a GIFT CARD), therefore ending in a huge disastrous mess. The management doesn't seem to think this is a problem, so keep up with your great system you have, good to know I can now "revoke gift card privileges"! Beware of this scam chain, if you want a technician that thinks she is much better and knows EVERYTHING about skincare, a front desk receptionist to push ten times a membership on you and then one again at the end for your significant other, management that could care less about your experience, and to be straight robbed of your money then this place is perfect, however I highly suggest staying far from any of these assembly lines, because you're barely a number here. read more

I was suckered into signing up for a Massage Envy membership a few years ago, after using a gift card I received. Their customer service is TERRIBLE. They do not value member loyalty nor are they consistent with their internal policies and procedures. One specific example: I called to transfer some of my accumulated massages to a few friends and family. The CSR transferred about 7 of my massages with no problem. After all, you would think they'd welcome the transfers since it's an opportunity to potentially get more memberships (which is pretty much the only thing they're concerned with), right? A few weeks later I call again to transfer a couple more massages and the CSR informs me that for each transfer I will be charged a $10 fee! SAY WHAT?!?! The first CSR never informed me of this when I did the initial 7 transfers and never charged my account. I explained that to this CSR and she didn't really seem to care, but proceeded to also inform me that once I transfer the massages and pay the $10 fee for each one, the transfers expire after 30 days. So, not only am I paying the $59 monthly fee but also paying Massage Envy $10 for each massage that I want to give away - which could ultimately get them more members!!!!!!! Ridiculous! A week later I finally go in for my own appointment and want to transfer 2 more massages (I know, you'd think I would've learned my lesson!) and the CSR tells me I'm only allowed to transfer one massage per month! HUHHHHH?!?!? I just transferred about 10 massages in the past week!!!! Why do your procedures keep changing?!? Ahhhhhhh!!!! Needless to say, the CSR had no response.... This place desperately needs to train their staff so they're all on the same page!! Also, they're inconsistent with their courtesy calls to remind you of your appointments; so don't rely on them to remind you! If you forget, you get penalized - shocking, I know. Bottom line: they're customer service blows - beyond harassing you for a membership, they could care less about the customer experience. Membership canceled. read more

Horrible turnover. Every time I find a suitable therapist, they're soon gone. Front staff isn't knowledgeable enough to be able to recommend a proper match in therapist and client. Tonight, I experienced the most unprofessional behavior when the therapist completely abandoned me mid-massage without adequate explanation. When I refused to fill out they're intake form, which you can tell is just to get you're info so they can bug the crap out of you, they refused to give me a massage. I have called 3 or so times in the past few months to make an appointment for the night of. I don't know what's going on with this location! Needless to say, I have been to Massage Envy and enjoy their massages and the few times that I have had a chance to get some free time without the baby I was excited to get a massage. But boy does this place have some special vip entrance or something? When I call I ask if they have any appointments available and every single time the receptionist says let me look for you, are you a member? I say no, I am not and they immediately say sorry we have no appointments this evening. After several calls like this and feeling something is off this last time I decided to called back 20 minutes later and like clock work the receptionist asks if I am a member but this time I say, Yes I am. She then proceeds to give me 2 opening times!!! Are you kidding me!?!? How can I not get an appointment unless I am a member? How can they just lie like this? This is awful and deceiving! Our membership is actually through the Streeterville location, but I decided to go to Elmhurst since I was out there visiting family. My husband and I got a couples massage. We had more than a few massages leftover since we don't go every month. We decided to combine massages in order to get two-hour session. They tell us in order for this to work we have to re-book with the same people for the next time. We did that. But the next time we came in, we find out that we're with different people. Their resolution was for us to come back and schedule an appointment with the first pair of massage therapists, and then another appointment with the second pair in order for all of the massage therapists to get compensated properly. The last time I came in, they changed up the massage therapists without telling me. They were about to tell me that I have to schedule another massage with the same guy from the first time yet again but I just lost it. Their rules are so complex, they don't even understand them themselves. I've gone out of my way to make things work out for 4 different massage therapists and I'm the one that keeps getting screwed! Unfortunately I was not able to reach out to them regarding this matter, however I for sure had over 9 massages on my account that are all of sudden no longer valid. I understand not being able to accumulate anymore credits but the credits that I PAID for should be honored. In my opinion this company has robbed me of my hard earned money and told me there's nothing they can do. And to get a massage I'd have to pay $115. I have been a member at this location for about 6 or 7 months and I enjoy it. I get that everyone thinks the tranquility room is cheesy but I enjoy that I am not waiting in the lobby of a strip mall(I think that would be worse then sitting in a cheeseball room), instead I'm in a relaxing quiet room..with delicious water with cucumber in it! I'll admit that they are relentless about getting you to sign up for the membership, but I planned on it anyways that's why I joined.. I have gotten many deep tissue massages, a hot stone(amazing), and then a few customized ones..today I had Adam as my masseuse and he is awesome! He is def my go to masseuse now. read more

But my issue is with trying to get an appointment.... over the past few years it's getting harder and harder. They take walk-ins but I have walked in and not able to get in. I call ahead of time and there is not open slots. Like most people I work and have a family. I had to cancel my membership because I have over 21 hours of massages. Transferring them to family is always a pain. If I freeze the account I was told I can't use any of the massages. I was never notified of increase to membership. I had multiple conversations with the owner/manager and we worked out a deal that suited both of us. read more

Tack-a-riffic! From the moment you walk in, this place screams cheesy. You're first greeted by, I must say, some lovely people at the front desk. Maybe the only good part of my whole experience. They were friendly and to the point. However, one of my two visits there, there was a woman, who appeared to either be a manager or owner or something, who was being so rude to her employees. She never said a peep to me, but the way she was speaking to them completely turned me off from the place. Next, after you fill out some paper work, you're asked to go into a "tranquility room" aka a dimmed, Ikea showroom. You sit there until your massage therapist comes and gets you. Why I couldn't sit in the front for this part, I don't know. My first massage was a Maggie. THE WORST! The massage itself wasn't too bad, but she kept talking! And not talking about what she was doing, or what feels tight to her. Instead, she thought it was professional to tell me about her partying, and where she sleeps when she drinks, because she won't drink and drive. Why do I ever need to know this about my therapist? I don't! Tacky, trashy, and classless. If you need to listen to someones problems, head on over to Maggie. If you want a massage, avoid her at all costs. The second time I went back (and mind you, I went back because their prices are so good, and for no other reason.) I made it very known that I didn't care who I saw, I just didn't want Maggie. I was placed with Adam. Adorable and amazing. He was completely professional and so skilled. I left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. On my way out, time to pay, the first time no one attempted to sell me a membership. The second time around, they were relentless. These people just can't take no. And it didn't seem like a conversation, or like they really believed in the product, it was completely scripted. Just awful. The worst thing, however, is the list framed on their counter telling you show much you should tip. I work in the service industry, and I have never seen anything as offensive or classless in my life. We can all do simple math, than you very much... and if your therapist didn't do a good enough job, they don't deserve a big tip. All in all, I gave the place a couple of tries. I will never be returning, however, the only reason this is a 2 star and not a 1, is because of Adam. The rest was just awful. read more

Don't get sucked into signing the membership contract unless you have extra funds laying around and plenty of time to make sure you make use of the membership. In my opinion there are too many good deals on groupon or living social too often to feel a need to sign a contract... which I did last year. I never use more than my monthly massage so I'm definitely not making good use of my membership as far as cost analysis goes. The quality of massage varies depending on the masseur so once you find a good one I suggest sticking with him or her. I think massage envy's are good for efficiency and convenience. You can find better pampering elsewhere. read more

I had scheduled an appointment for my husbands business partner. Massage Envy call 1.5 hours before his scheduled appointment and said that the therapist was sick. Did not offer any alternatives or compassion. When I called to speak to someone (ended up speaking to Melissa) she said a manger would call me. That the manager was on break. I asked what time the manager would be back she stated "I don't have any idea of when." When I asked Melissa for a corporate number. She told me I could go on the web site and find it. I personally use the massage envy in south Naperville and have never received such disrespect. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. First Time here and I had a sit down chat to go over all my needs with Anthony, he was very friendly and I thought him seating down with me to over all my expectations was really nice, most spa places, just take your money and then give you the service. I like how personable he was and he felt really comfortable asking me questions about myself. Joy was my aesthetician and she was really good, she helped me relax did some extractions and I really enjoyed my facial.
