If you're looking for a deep tissue massage to get all your knots out, Jeff is your guy! I usually need to ask therapists for more pressure, but not this time! My massage was amazing. Jeff knows exactly where the knots are and used precise, strong movements to work out all the tension. A small portion of the massage was assisted stretching which was really good. I had a jammed finger which had been bothering me for a few days, and it got fixed during the hand massage portion. The massage room is located inside Sola Salons, so there's a little bit of noise from the rest of the building. But the relaxing music covered most of it so I didn't notice. It was easy to make an appointment online, and the automated texts to remind me to confirm my appointment were convenient. Had to cancel my appointment due to having the flu; instead of being met with flexibility and compassion my card was charged the full amount for the service. Upon several times of contacting the merchant with no response, I was finally able to speak with him. He was incredibly rude, said that I could reschedule and pay AGAIN, and abruptly hung up on me. I was thoroughly pleased with my massage from Jeff. It was my first massage done by a man (the voucher was a gift) so I was a bit hesitant. Almost immediately upon meeting him, Jeff's professional presence put me at ease. Before the massage started he asked my preferred pressure and appropriately adjusted through the session. The location is very basic, it's not a luxury spa; it's a small office suite (NOT musky) tucked up on the 2nd floor of a retail/resto/office center at NW Forest/Preston. The massage bed sheets are clean; they maybe wrinkled, but if you don't iron natural material that's the result. The wrinkled sheets and ambience (or lack thereof) didn't take away from the great work Jeff did with his deep muscle manipulation. Next time I need a knead, I'm heading to Jeff! read more

Jeff is great! I went again, and I'm really impressed by his professionalism and service. I'm saddened by the review below. It's true that he's in a temporary location, which isn't the nicest, but he'll be moving back this weekend. He had to move due to excessive noise due to construction. The sign explaining where the temporary location is wasn't the clearest, but it happens. Anyone in the salons could have explained where Menzel moved to if just asked. It's also true that he has no receptionist, but how is he supposed to? He doesn't make that much money that he's able to hire someone full time to sit at the front. It seems that whatever situation occurred was just a misunderstanding. Menzel is really affordable and great, just make sure you tell him exactly what you need worked out. read more

(1 star removed) Menzel didn't ask what areas I wanted focus on, and when I did give feedback, t was ignored, even on pressure (another 2 star removed) Lastly, a little annoying to have your massage therapist yawning constantly while massaging you. What a joke! I should've known better when the paperwork referred to consent or not to breast massage! Purchased a Living Social voucher for a massage, and went all the way to the Sola Salons location just to find a paper note on the door that Jeff Menzel had moved! Luckily I arrived in enough time (after traveling 20 miles), to locate the "new" location, which was nothing more than an old, mildew-musty smelling office building with a "massage bed," using the term loosely. The sheets were rumpled like they hadn't been changed and no one was there, not a receptionist, no one. After feeling completely creeped out by the paper sign which read "Massage by Menzel," the jar of candies, the dirty bed, and funky odor, I high-tailed it out of there as quickly as I could! I contacted Living Social customer service and explained my situation. They were very helpful and refunded my money without hesitation mainly because he had changed locations without notifying them. Then to top it all off, this weirdo called me & left a message (which I deleted), and then proceeded to harass me thru email with the following statement (I quote), "I appreciate you not canceling your appointment yesterday so I just sat here for the whole hour." How sarcastic, who does that?! I don't care about the money, but I do want to warn people (especially women) that this guy is a creeper and a potential stalker! I first found out about massage by menzel on groupon. I purchased a groupon for a 60 min Swedish massage and set up my appointment online at Massage by Mendel website. I was a little hesitant at first because I feel more comfortable getting a massage from women. But, Jeff Menzel was very professional and I never felt uncomfortable. I've had massages where the pressure is just too much, but Jeff had the right amount of pressure, not too strong, not too soft. I felt very relaxed and my back felt much better when I left. My first massage with Jeff was 27 years ago...I was 8 then. I had just gotten hit by a car, and was trying to mend and heal. As I went through high school, I continued to see him. I played sports and wanted to keep my knees as strong as possible. I continued through college and into my twenties and now my thirties. I will share some private information about myself. Because of Jeff and his ability to heal through massage, I was able to get into my thirties with Rheumatoid Arthritis and avoid diagnosis. It was until two years ago, when I had to climb four flights of stairs several times a day, carrying a heavy back pack weighing at least 40 pounds that I couldn't avoid diagnosis anymore. Jeff allowed me easily 10 years or more to avoid painful procedures, medicine, and physical therapy. Thankfully, the meds are finally starting to work two years later. But during those two years, life was extremely painful. Jeff got me through that. I have also been to massages here in Fort Worth, Brazil, Vegas, Mexico, Colorado, California and a handful of other places. I have had to share lots of information every time I went to see someone else. The information included anything from medications I was on, information proving I was pregnant, questions about my preferences for massage around my chest, surgeries, drinking habits, dietary habits, doctors, emergency contact information, type of massages I have had prior, occupation, and a whole mess of other information they may be seeking at the time. If you have been massaged at a resort on vacation, gotten a massage at any point in your life, or done anything similar you would know that everyone will ask to obtain their own information. I have been to places where it is a dark room or completely bright. I prefer dark, sorry...I like to relax and even take a nap if my body desires. I can't do this in a brightly lite room. Don't know many who can. So yes, Jeff will yawn at times. But he has always let very little light come in. No matter where I have gotten my massages at...whether it was a massage party I had at my house for several fellow teachers (which a few had asked for a 30 minute appointment time & during massage immediately asked if the massage cold be extended to an hour...which made appointment times keep falling later and later which was funny), his room now, his former room, the office suite a few doors down (this was my favorite!!!! When do you ever get to be in a completely quiet area, with lots of space and receive a massage...but before you do, snack on a cookie or two...or snack on one when your done and ready to eat...I also enjoyed it because it was quiet and allowed you to really close your eyes and relax, which creates a far superior massage), I have even gone and gotten a massage at his home (when he was working at a furniture company, so he could get medical benefits; I'm sure many of you can understand the value in that)...his old spot many many many years ago...or any other place in between. I have never once felt uncomfortable...never once. I have received pain to break up bad knots in my back from my RA. Which I sometimes would scream...or when he would stick his elbow in that nice muscle known as your butt. That really hurts!!!!! But it stretches out the muscle when your trying to heal from a surgery and can't do anything about it. I have been a child in his care, a teenager in his care, an early adult in his care, and now a full fledged adult in his care. My mother is a very vibrant and actively crazy 64 year old woman who has gone to Jeff for over 30 years. I have seen clients of his in their elderly years. I have known Jeff care for the sweetest elderly man dying of cancer...up until his departure from this Earth. Jeff helped that man get through the toughest battle he had ever faced, through the power of a massage. I can't tell you enough what all he has done...I can say that the few others that complained...well I am willing to bet they are the type that enjoy to complain. The type that seek out what ever free the can find from complaining. There are way too many of us that have gone through life and its hardships with the assistance of Jeff's magical massage hands. He has learned so many techniques and meshed them into one amazingly creative method. I just wish he had an apprentice around, that way when I get older and he is no longer able to massage...I am still able to receive the special massage that has allowed me to enjoy so much and avoid lots of pain. I have known since I was 16 or so, that I had my grandmother's Rheumatoid Arthritis. I just didn't want to seek help, because the doctor's killed my grandmother almost two years before my birth. I didn't want to die too. So I sought out alternative methods...and massage is the #1 Preferred Method for people like me. read more

This guy is the best! I've been to many massage therapists, and he is my favorite by far. Because I am a young woman, I am usually more comfortable with another woman for an hour long massage.
