I needed a painter on my home and was given a quote of nearly $10,000. After paying half the fee upfront, the painter took off, with thousands of dollars, never completing the job. I took the defendant to court and he was ordered to pay $300 a month until the judgment was fulfilled. The painter took off again, and I never received a dime. The courts recommended I contact the Massachusetts Constable Service. I contacted Officer Waites who was very understanding and helpful. His main job was to find the defendant, arrest him, and bring him into court to face judgement. Even though it took awhile, and sometimes felt hopeless, Officer Waites assured me he would eventually be found. Officer Waites, and Officer Ortiz, another very helpful Constable often went to known addresses where the defendant might be. They even spoke to relatives of the defendant, asking question about the whereabouts of the defendant. Finally he hit paydirt. While scouring online ads he found services ads being posted by the defendant asking for painting jobs. Officer Waites and Ortiz set up a sting. They called the number in his ad and set up a quote for painting. The defendant obliged, showed up at the house, and was promptly arrested and brought into court. I am so very grateful to both Officer Waites and Officer Ortiz for all the time and hard work they put into my case. They did so much more than I expected, including speaking in court on my behalf on the day of the arrest. Even though it was a very traumatic ordeal, I wouldn't change a thing. I've been using MA Constable Service for about 3 years and I'm never switching back to the other guys. Officer Waites is reliable, professional, and a great communicator. He always goes the extra mile for my firm, which helps us look good from our client's perspective. For example, I needed to serve a deposition subpoena on a hard-to-find witness and brought in Officer Waites to help. He went to the only business address we had for the witness and, when the witness' name wasn't on the building directory, he entered the building (with permission), spoke to some of the occupants, and didn't give up the task until he had found the witness' office hidden in the bowels of the building. Plenty of other constables would have simply taped the deposition notice to the building door at the first sign that the witness wasn't around, but Officer Waites doesn't consider his job done until YOUR job is done. I also prefer Officer Waites because of his composure in high-pressure situations that come up in our summary process work. I once asked Officer Waites to perform a walk-through of a rented building to inspect for tenant-caused damage (he even brings his own body camera to this king of stuff!). The Tenant was viciously hostile in all of our dealings with him, but Officer Waites calmly spoke with the tenant about the situation and the tenant was persuaded to allow the walk-through with no added drama. I recommend Massachusetts Constable Service above any other constable service, and I would like to share my experience with this company as proof of their merit. I work in an Immigration Law office out of Providence, RI. We needed to get a summons served for a divorce case, not only with a deadline approaching, but the Defendant was in prison in Boston, MA. Add in the fact that this is between Christmas and New Year's Day. Let me just say that I tried to contact several other constable services, including the Suffolk County Sheriff's Dep't., and was able to assess Massachusetts Constable Service as being the most competent to handle the issue in a timely manner. First, I was able to actually get into contact and communicate with a person by phone. Second, I was able to send paperwork electronically, rather than by using the slower Postal Service. I recently had a situation with a nightmare tenant that had many complicated circumstances. The first and hopefully my last! Chris Waites is outstanding! My husband and I needed help with bringing his ex to court because she had skipped out on a court date, and it had been some time (seven months). We originally dealt with the Sheriffs office who told us they could not help us because they did not have a female deputy to do the physical arrest. So, after about 2 months, we had the Sheriff's office send us the capias back and we started to look for a Constable's office. I Never post. This is my first post/review anywhere, and it rightfully goes out to Constable Christopher Waites. Chris was a very helpful and informative Constable through a very rough eviction process. First I called a lawyer who wanted $1500 to help prosecute. After hearing him tell me it would be a mere $150+ to have a Constable come out and serve papers, that's with him keeping somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 for himself for just making the phone call, I thought I'd try to go at it alone and see how it goes. Thankfully I got Chris, who was very affordable, and who took the time to explain the whole process, made himself available, answered all questions and even provided some helpful advice throughout the eviction process as well as with moving forward. I am a landlord and hired MA Constable Services to serve papers to someone appearing in District Court that day on a different matter. The Constable showed up early and notified Court Security that he was serving papers, in case the subject had to be served inside the building.The Constable was able to serve the papers before Court started, outside that Courthouse, with no disruption.
