I love my community, patronize as many…read morerestaurants, libraries, markets, parks, etc. The important word is community, neighbors look out for neighbors and there is a wonderful vibe here. We have an abundance of parks; Shore Road, Leif Erickson, John Paul Jones and Owl's Head to name a few. Great for families to enjoy a day at the park. Our community outreach is top notch; Salvation Army, Bay Ridge Community Center. Our schools also are impactful, Fort Hamilton High, Xaverian, William McKinley Our restaurants offer diversity from Italian ( Campania, Brooklyn Roots) to Indian ( Mint Bay) to Mexican ( Coszcal de Allende) to Chinese ( Rose Bowl); these are a few of my favorites. If you love to golf Dyker Heights is a great place to tee off as well as utilize as a venue for special events. And our City Councilman, Justin Brennan and Senator Andrew Gounardes always have Bay Ridgians' best interests at heart. Today as a community we gathered to remember our veterans who served via the 158th Memorial Day parade. I'm sharing some photos from today to show how strong our community is in Fort Hamilton. Come here a few times a year. Usually for military supplies. Everything else has the same prices as…read morea department store. Sometimes, even MORE expensive... The service is alright, nothing worth noting. Lines can get long. I never really see more than 2 cashiers going -- it moves fast, though. I've also used the facility's gym. It's pretty nice... I was surprised. Clean, neat, not noisy and not busy. Just how I like it. You need a military ID to get in. If you bring a civilian as a guest, make sure they have their ID on them to use the gym. I like this place because it's pretty clean and updated compared to other places I've been to.

For 23 years I've been visiting the Rockefeller Concourse. I can now get on the subway outside my…read moreapartment and get off underground at the Concourse. I avoid the nasty weather. I've seen business come and go. I was there this past week. I was sad when the Hallmark Store Closed. There's more changes coming. The Starbucks is always busy. I'm posting photos of my favorites. I like to look out at the Ice Skaters. I have a treat at Jacques Torres. I like lunch at Tri Tip Grill. They have one of my favorite salads. Sometimes I'm there for Ben and Jerry's. Especially free scoop day. For years my daughter would meet me for lunch at Au Bon Pain. Frequently I met out of town friends and family members there. Both their locations have closed! Now you can find me at Mrs. Fields/Liberty Deli. They have very reasonable prices for a filling meal. When I need something for healthcare I shop at the Value Drugs. The employees are very nice to me. You can get tickets for Top of the Roc. You're near Radio City Music Hall and many favorite named brand shops. I could go on and on. I love spending the day. When you visit the city, shop in the Concourse. There's Amazon Go now too. You can get fresh flowers and an old fashioned shoe shine or have your shoes repaired. If you work nearby you're fortunate. There's the U.S. Post Office too. There's everything you need basically!

Ben and Jerry's, Ace's Pizza, Blue Ribbon, and a bunch more options as far as eating. There's plenty of shops as well, Top of the Rock, Amazon to go, stationary store, shoe shine shop, pool hall, and a lot more. Most of the places are open during business hours, check for the weekend schedule. It can get busy during lunch time during the week.

Charles B. Stover Bench aka Whispering Bench was hard for me to find. It took me two visits to the…read morearea before I found it tucked off in a circular walkway. You're supposed to have two people one on each end whispering. It's like the Whispering Wall in Grand Central. Since I was alone I didn't find out if it works! I mainly had a goal to find the bench. I was getting a lot of walking in during the adventure. If you like this sort of oddity I suggest you find the bench. It's a nice dedication to Charles B. Stover. You can look him up! The bench states that he was the founder of outdoor playgrounds.

We rented a room at the Sam Field Center for a birthday party and had a great experience. The…read morepricing was very reasonable, especially for a Saturday. There was plenty of free parking across the street, security at the front entrance, and clean bathrooms available for guests. The rental included tables and chairs, and we also had access to a kitchen and refrigerators, which made food setup much easier. The room can comfortably accommodate 80+ people making it a great option for larger gatherings. The community center also has an indoor basketball court. There was a game going on while we were there but it was on the opposite side of the building and didn't impact our event at all.

It's the small country that we learned about in grade school that is snugly situated between…read moreSwitzerland and Austria. It doesn't appear to be a major tourist destination. I say that because it wasn't all that busy while we there. It's still an interesting place to visit if you happen to be in the area. We crossed over to Vaduz after visiting Appenzell & St. Gallen earlier that day. Make sure that you check out the Alte Rheinbrücke and the Rhine River before continuing on to Vaduz. It's a cool structure to see along the way. It was a beautiful day to explore the city. We sampled some chocolates at the Läderach shop, and then continued on to the Liechtenstein Center. You'll know you're at that visitor center when you see the red & white umbrella decorations in front of the building. It's a great photo opportunity. This is where you can get your passport stamped for a fee. I guess most people do that here. We were more interested in the model of the castle and the historical landmarks along the main street of Städtle. Honestly, the best part of our visit was lunch at Café-Restaurant Engel. We had the Viennese schnitzel. The restaurant primarily serves Asian food, but the local dishes were actually pretty good. There's also a nice city view from their outdoor balcony terrace. It was a nice lunch! As for the castle... well you can't really go inside it since the Prince still lives there. He only allows limited access (by invitation) to the castle on August 15th during the National Day celebrations. You can take a hike up a mountain to see it, or just view it from below. But hey, we did get a partial view of it from the city. Yay! It was worth visiting for a few hours just to take in the culture and view of the castle from Vaduz. It was a nice visit!

When most people hear of Liechtenstein, they probably think of it as a skippable little area…read morebetween Switzerland, Austria, and Germany - but let me tell you, it is NOT skippable! Liechtenstein has the gorgeous Alps, rolling green hills, delicious food options, and even a castle you can explore, so there's definitely enough to make a stop or stay out of it. We even found a beer that was brewed right there in Vaduz, which was very cool as I like to try the local brews anywhere I travel. If you'll be in one of the neighboring European countries, and traveling around, definitely make a stop in Liechtenstein to check it out even if just for a day or two!

The place was not crowded at all (actually, there was nobody else when I visited there). When I came back to pick up my visa, I arrived at the wrong time (I think the pick-up was only in the afternoon). But they let me in anyway and collect my passport and visa.
