What I paid from my paycheck is a fraction of what I have gained in income since I was eligible to receive Social Security Benefits. Social Security has really tightened up the online website. If you are not tech savvy I feel sorry for you. I've learned a lot about my benefits and get my annual income statement. I definitely pay taxes on my Social Security you know! I'm writing this for everyone to be reminded about the scams. Attached is the information sheet SSA asked us to share. In these days of information overload we must stay focused and mindful of every email, text, and phone call. This place is a government facility and everything is done and performed by a ticketing system,…read morewhich sucks so much. Luckily this place doesn't need any appointments. The bad thing is you need to wait a long time and almost every chair is occupied. It's very crowded. The ticket numbers are called out randomly and not in order so you don't even know when it is your turn. Luckily there are many TV screens at different angles calling the ticket numbers or else people forget their turn and prevents people from moving their heads. When my number was called, I had to put my ticket number inside the basket next to the window. There was no electronic credit card merchant device outside the window. I had to pay using my credit card. I did not know that they were going to print out the birth certificates and was surprised that they handed me 2 copies. They looked really different than the version I had when I was born. Now they are pink and blue compared to my pink form I originally had.

They sent a email that our online login as it currently exists won't be available soon. We have to create a Login.gov or ID.me account. I believe I have both set up. I had to set them up when I wanted to view my Federal Income Tax documents online. It was a hassle and it required facial recognition. I'm dreading the change but I know I can go back to this office if I need help! I'm not going to recommend either way. If you can handle anything online avoid going to any Social Security office.

This individual really needs some career counseling as he'd be better suited having no contact with people in the office. I watched him bark at people, be dismissively rude, just a low class personality. However, the agent assigned to me upon being called to a specific room, was extremely helpful, kind and effective. Having come prepared with a mountain of paperwork, she calmly and patiently sifted through all of what I had with me. Upon completion, assured me that all files will be sent to the appropriate party for processing. Her five stars and that other guys one star brings the average to a total of three stars. See what a bad employee can do to hurt ones star rating? So unfortunate for all the others.

She literally went through my entire case file from start to finish to see all the different things that had occurred to cause this long delay in my income tax return! All the calls, appointment's, sitting on the phone for hours just to be hung up on several times by many different people sometimes just bad connection. Even if you call ahead and specifically ask about certain programs like SNAP, something will still be wrong. Parking is impossible and there's always someone peddling a free phone or some other unwanted product out front. If you can, avoid at all costs.

I called the main SSA number, and was offered several appointments within the next month at various local offices. A 9am in Hoboken was the first available. Always a good idea to get the first appointment if possible, in order to limit wait time. I was seen within about 10 minutes by Ms. Acosta. She was fantastic! Super nice and very helpful. She gathered the information she needed from me, then guided me through filling out the forms. When I made a mistake on one form, she was very patient with me and got me on the right track. Mission was accomplished, and Ms. Acosta made it as pleasant as could be. When I let Ms. Acosta's supervisor know how terrific she was, they both seemed very happy to hear the service was great.

It took me almost all day to take care of everything I needed to take care that day. Today (3/16/26) I tried calling the office and I was on hold for a long time and the called dropped so I called again and stayed on hold until thank God someone came to the phone line and helped me. The agent spoke with me patiently and provided the information that I needed. Couldn't resolve anything at that moment but will wait 3 days to check if my direct deposited went through. Not easy to be without a monthly income. Thanks Hoboken Social Secuirty Office. But before I go, I do want to tell you that there is a guard in this office that was very unfriendly and I didn't like that.
