Pineapple Curry Rice
Rod G.

This locally owned unassuming little Thai restaurant continues to be one of our favorites. Orders are placed at the counter and brought out to you. Beverages are self serve. The food is consistently fresh and oh so tasty! Our go to dishes are the pineapple curry rice with chicken, masaman curry, and the ginger root with vegetables. I also highly recommend the tempura green beans and the chicken satay for starters. The green beans are a must! Service is always friendly and efficient even when the small staff is quite busy.

Not Tasty Just spicy no flavour

I ordered from uber eats! Not much flavour in it. Need to improve recipes or ingredients.

I love it here. I got my normal Panang curry , and it was of course delicious. The food is so consistent. The owners are always friendly! Until next time.

Pad Thai

This was my first time trying this place, and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered from the lunch menu and the portion was just right. The lunch prices are very reasonable. Each entree comes with their delicious coconut soup. I really enjoyed the Pad Thai as well. Service was friendly and fast.

Thai basil leaf with beef

Great new find. I had been craving Thai food for quite some time and wanted to try a new place. The restaurant is quite small; I was not expecting the right seating arrangement. Due to the close proximity of others, I wish they had music playing because the restaurant is very quiet so you can be all up in others conversations. You go to the counter and order and pay for your food. Get your own drink so no one is really waiting on you. I kind of liked that though. The food was excellent! Perfectly spicy and flavorful. We ordered the crab angels, the shrimp soup, pineapple fried rice with a shrimp, and the chili Thai basil leaf with beef. If you have a cold this will clear you right up. I already want

I been wanting to try this place for a while, well I tried it for the first time. When I say I have no regrets, I have NONE. I ordered the Panang curry & spring rolls, & it was delicious !! It was lunch time, but the servings were fulfilling. This will be my new Thai place from now on.

Food was good. Since we ordered takeout couldn't find out about their service. The ambience looked pretty ordinary.

Portions are way too small for the price. Super disappointed. If I spend 12$ on a dish I want more than a small serving of protein.

What a pleasant experience!…read more I ate here one afternoon as part of a self-care day. Upon entering, I immediately felt as if I were taking part in a celebration as I took in all of the vivid colors and decorations that adorned the space. I was warmly greeted, and taken to a table that had been freshly wiped clean. My server was very sweet and recommended several appetizers to start my dining experience. She complimented my handbag and we shared small talk over the uniqueness of it. She also brought out chilled tap water that I requested and poured it into a small glass. I decided to try the lavender lemonade and I'm happy I did. It was glass of my favorite childhood drink served in a restaurant. The lemonade was sweet as if my mama made it and the lavender added just the right pizazz to the drink. Plus it was a pretty drink! I loved the fresh flowers that added an elegant touch. Now for the main course. I opted for the drunken uncle noodles with beef lunch special that includes a complimentary crispy roll. The roll could've been a tad bit warmer, but not a deal breaker. It was still tasty with just the right amount of crunch. The star was the drunken uncle noodles. They were absolutely delicious! The spices, the flavors, the tenderness of the noodles and beef were all superb! I've been thinking of this dish since I ate it and I can't wait to order it again and again! Yum Yai...from the welcoming ambience, to the friendly service, to the exquisite meal...you have earned this 5 star review. Keep shining bright!

I really wanted to love Yum Yai, and definitely has its pros, but the noodle dish left me wanting…read moremore. First let's start with everything they're doing right! Great service, lovely decor, impressive playlist, delicious wings and refreshing drink. I like that they offer mocktails and serve in generous portion compared to many places. The Zaap wings are a must if you're a wing person. I am not a huge wing person. We got both dry and sauced to start--both yummy. I'm a big fan of Thai food so I've had really good Thai food and sub par. The crispy spring rolls were good but pretty standard like most restaurants or what you can buy in the frozen section. I ordered Drunken Uncle noodle with chicken but it wasn't even "tipsy" lol - not a ton of flavor nor moist enough to be drunken. Edible but Kinda pasty and lacking so the 3-3.5 rating factored in to my overall is mostly due to my noodles but the rest of the experience I am pleased. Maybe I just didn't order one of their best entrees. When my friend had her basil fried rice dish redone with no egg she loved it, and it looked good too. She got it with tofu. Before that something was off but the staff was very accommodating and kind. They wanted to make it right so she'd be pleased and she was. We took our moms out on Mother's Day weekend as a treat, and they seemed to enjoy their whole fried snapper which comes on a bed of lettuce with rice & sauces on the side. The three flavor fish comes with 3 sauces and there's also a mango fish. The location is convenient and I'd return to try another dish or one of their curries. They were running a unique set of menu items especially for Mother's Day weekend but it included food items none of us eat.

Entrees were combination fried rice and Pad Pak. Pretty good. Real fresh veggies with chicken and an extra fried egg, just love the ingredients. It's a nice fresh herb taste with lots of flavor with little seasoning. Y'all already know, if it's for the dumplings alone, She'll be back.

Friday special is my favorite but if you are one of the lucky ones that dines there on a day when they have yellow noodle bowl, you are blessed. It is very rare. It says Hoover Food Mart on the sign, a homage to their humble beginnings in this building back when it was an operating gas station. Unique, special, delicious. An all around gem in the heart of Hoover.

I am starting to venture into foods from other cultures more and Yummefy was on my list to try…read more Upon arriving, I was greeted warmly and told to sit where I chose. My drink order was taken (water) and my server, who answered all of my questions, was very patient and pleasant. For my appetizer, I ordered the spring rolls. They were freshly made and came out hot and crispy. I enjoyed them and would order them again. Now the main course. I opted for the spicy Himalayan chicken, medium heat. I love spicy food, and I thought I was doing the right thing by ordering the medium level. However, it was very spicy! I did notice however, that the longer it sat, the level evened out some. Still, on my next visit, I will try the mild level to compare. The dish was delicious and very flavorful. The white rice added just the right amount of coolness to the chicken and veggies. Upon leaving, I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken in mild. I'm not sure if it's because it's a totally different flavor profile, but the mild has very little spicy. I just can't believe it's that much difference between the mild and medium levels. The drunken noodles were just okay, in my opinion. There was not a lot of juice, spice not flavor in this dish. On my next visit, I will stick with the Himalayan chicken and order it in mild just to test out my theory. The workers were very friendly and came by to check on me and made small talk with all of their customers, including me. I enjoyed my visit and look forward to returning again
