This place is our go to for fresh meat and produce. Reasonable prices and quality items. After the hurricane hit and their food spoiled, they worked quickly to toss the rotten food and reset. Their store was ready within 2 days and they were up ready to serve customers. No smell, all clean and organized. They sell samosas, puff pastry and different Pakistani dishes like biryani, pulao, kebab, and chicken karahi. Tip: halwa puri on Sundays. Great selection of frozen and imported items. I ordered lunch today through Uber Eats for my family and was highly disappointed. I ordered the butter chicken with plain rice, beef nihari, garlic naan and beef samosas. Both dishes were swimming in oil! The beef nahari literally had only one VERY small piece of meat in the entire dish!! The samosas were extremely small. I remember shopping at masala pantry when they first opened. I was very excited to have a Halal market so close to me, especially one that had a hot counter for food to go. However, this place has gone downhill over the years. The produce is no longer as fresh as it used to be, in fact, sometimes it's old and moldy. As for the food at the hot counter, I would not be surprised if they were simply reheating some of the packaged food that they sell there plus there's hardly any meat in any of the meat dishes & the flavors of the food seem to have gotten quite bland. I still stop in here from time to time to pick up the occasional item, but this store is no longer one of my favorites due to the decline in quality. read more

I ordered a mild curry and a spicy curry, and both were very spicy! I also ordered two different samosas and both were spicy. Everything is spicy! The samosas were not that great and I was not given dipping sauce for the samosas like the traditional plum sauce. Otherwise I e had to drive up to Sugar Land to stores like this. Butcher area in back where they prepare fresh Halal meat daily & put in separate cold room for self service. Fresh produce. Many dry spices & Shan& LaZiza masala boxes of spice mix. Freezer section with plenty of prepared foods & much naan, paratha bread selections. The grocery store is amazing and has a lot of spices. The secret of the establishment is the little take out restaurant inside. Very great food and fresh. Very poor collection and near expiry products. We got Deep mango juice and found at home that it is expiring thus month. Meat section was supposed to be fresh meat with marinated kababs, but all they had was frozen stuff. Potatoes were all green rather than brown. read more

Not enough meat in specials. Too much oil. Samosas Grease coming through the bag messing up my car. They got the order wrong. Charged me way too much. I used to be a regular but I will not go there again. One shami kabab used to be like $2 but yesterday they charged me $22 for 6. They sell the box of frozen (12) for $15 took out from the freezer and simply fried these for me for a charge of $2 FEE EACH KABAB and made their money back and then some. They ARE NOT made from scratch. It's like Colonel Kababs. Also, they don't give any sides anymore, no chutney, no napkins... nothing extra. I paid for fancy naan but got the plain. If they want to rip off their good customers, then they will not have very many in the future. This is Houston. We have lots of options. read more

So happy they were still open, the gentleman who answered the phone was so nice and patient when explaining the menu items. The Chicken Karahi is sooooooo yummy! I can't wait to come back for more! Quick food search led me to this place down the street from my house. Masala Pantry is a hybrid grocery store/pantry/restaurant. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, garlic naan and rice. The food was flavorful, delicious and very authentic (a little on the spicy side which I love). The Tikka masala and butter chicken were plentiful. Four people could eat out of just two orders. Two orders of rice would also feed 4 people. Our order was waiting for us and the sweet guy at the register knew who we were as soon as we said we were there to pick up an order. I was curious as to what the grocery store had so I walked around. I found some fruits, veggies, nuts, cooking spices, a frozen section with Middle Eastern goodies and many packaged items (which I didn't know much about). To conclude, you should eat here. I really liked the food from their kitchen and ordered on many occasions, we even got catering done from here a couple of weeks ago. But just like every new spot that opens I'm afraid this place is going to lose its wealth (as far as food goes) Yesterday they had a nihari special, given that just a few days ago I picked up some nihari from here I was looking forward to an amazingly tasty dinner, If only I had been prepared for the disaster! The nihari was atrocious, instead of full of "swad" it was like eating meat and water-- of the ugly kind. I feel a huge let down, if the food isn't going to be consistent day in, day out lots of business will be lost, I'm not sure if I can even give it another chance, I'm forgiving but yesterday's meal was traumatizing, and this is coming from a person who likes to at least give places another chance. I don't think they are very good at recognizing their regular customers, and I heard very bad curse words being used on two occasions on my visit there. Just a warning be prepared. This is my second visit here. It recently opened in our neighborhood shopping center. From the outside, it looks like a small grocery store. There's milk, yogurt, veggies, naan, rice, dried lentils, and all types of drinks and fresh meat/produce. If you walked towards the back of the store, there is a small counter display of their samosas and menu of hot plates. So far, I had all their samosas - beef, chicken, and curry potatoes. Its all yummy! On a different day, I placed an order of 4 butter chicken to take home for dinner with the family. I just assumed it would come with the basmati rice. Nope, it doesn't and I should have asked! I was rushing to get home because I knew there was nothing to eat. Luckily, we always have steam jasmine rice in our rice cooker, otherwise I would have to head back out to the store. Everyone enjoyed the butter chicken. I went here today. I stopped by to try their samosa. They have an aloo samosa priced at 1.25 in the case. The board sign states the aloo is 1.25, beef 1.00 and chicken 1.00. I asked for 3 beef and the man told me the price was 6.91. I asked why the board says one thing and you are telling me another. The man stated that the beef has more meat in it. They are the exact same size as the aloo so I was utterly confused by the price he was telling me vs whats posted. He also said the smaller ones were a dollar but they just so happen to be out of it. I knew something was up when he asked the lady from the front a question. I wonder how many people they have done this too??Beware when going there. Make sure you pay whats advertised. First off, we should have ordered 2 rices or maybe even 1, the portions of rice were huge. All 3 of the naans were some of the best I've had in the area, super fresh and super flavorful. I usually get chicken vindaloo at Indian places, but it wasn't on the menu, so I went with the Karahi after googling the options. Happened to be buy 1 get one free on the karahi, so yay for me. It was nice and spicy like I wanted. It does have bones, which adds to the flavor, so beware if navigating bones isn't your thing. I loved it. The wife and kids had butter chicken, they all enjoyed it. I briefly browsed the store, they have Mexican Coke! I'll be back for that. They also have what I would call English Pasties in the warmer, I don't recall what they called them, but I'll be back for those too.
