    Masala House Special Chicken Curry
    Maya K.

Everything we ordered was sooo delicious and a great price! We had the chicken tikka masala, masala house chicken curry, samosas, pani puri, and dahi puri- all super authentic and flavorful. Definitely exceeded our expectations. Will be back!

Have tried a few places in Concord and this one is at the top of the list. Samosas were great starters to share. Flavor was perfect and bountiful. We also got the chicken momo, which wasn't as flavorful as the rest. Everything we ordered was amazing but the Dal Makhani stole the show (at least for me). Will definitely be going back here

    Lunch buffet $18.99

It was a little hard to find from the direction we were walking from. Luckily there was a pop up sign with their lunch specials on the side walk. They have a small parking lot adjacent but there was ample street parking. We were instantly greeted with big smiles and a warm welcome. The staff were all so nice! Once we let the hostess know we were there for the lunch buffet, she walked us over and explained the dishes to us. The selection wasn't huge, but was a nice variety. Once we had our first plate, the server asked what kind of naan we would like. Within ten minutes or so, a basket of garlicky hot naan arrived at our table. The eggplant and paneer dishes were our favorites. They each had a nice hint of heat. The fish and goat curries also had a little hint of heat. Nothing was overly spicy. So if you like it hot, this might not be for you. Overall, a great lunch option. Lunch buffet is from 11-3, adults $18.99. You can also just order from their regular menu which most of the other diners were opting for when we were in.

My co-worker and I ordered via DoorDash for our lunch. They had a special menu for us. It was a special chicken curry lunch combo. Chicken Curry Lunch Combo: This came with our chicken curry, rice, two vegetable side dishes (paneer and potatoes with bell peppers), naan bread and dessert. I also got a mango lassi on the side as well for a drink. Overall, it was a delicious lunch combo. Fairly priced around $18 for the food, the chicken curry was plentiful and spicy. The paneer was good and the potatoes were flavorful. The dessert was alright and the mango lassi, though a bit runny, was refreshing. Overall, not a bad experience for the food. I can see myself coming back here again.

    Garlic Naan!

This is one of my favorite new discoveries in the area!! I originally stopped by here somewhere last month for a TGTG order and decided to order some butter chicken while I was at it. The owner(?) was super nice and gave me a free cup of mango lassi to drink while I waited for my order. It was amazing. It was delicious. In the current state of affairs, kindness goes a long way and that was super nice. I was sold. Ok enough with the dramatics--he mentioned that if I liked the butter chicken or the mango lassi (yes to both!!!), I should come back sometime since they had a lunch buffet every day from 11-3pm. It's $18.99 for a variety of AYCE Indian food. Say no more. Since then, we've been back twice and service has been lovely both times. The owner came out with a basket of fresh fluffy garlic naan and yes, you can request multiple baskets of this too. (It usually comes with 4-the picture only shows 3 because my SO swiped one before I could take the photo, haha.) The food choices change but the mango lassi has been a constant staple. (There are usually two drink options--last time there was a rose drink and this time there was a passionfruit sikhanji.) We even got freshly made (ginger cardamom?) chai! I'm not sure how I'm supposed to drink the chai I have at home anymore after having that, but I guess that just means I'll have to come back again sometime. The food options have included butter chicken, veggie pakora, egg curry, lamb vindaloo, chickpeas, chicken tikka masala, egg rolls, rice, paneer curry, biryani, kheer (a recent discovery that I really like!!), an Indian bread pudding (I forgot the name and am uncultured; I'm sorry)...there's definitely more but I'm blanking on the names. I usually eat enough that that's my meal for the whole day. Tis a steal, especially with prices the way they are these days. We're so glad we found this place and will definitely be back!! :]

This was our first time here and it is definitely not our last. Food and service was great. Staff checks in on you regularly. Food was hot and tasted freshly made. There was a few tables there and they also seemed to enjoy their food. Everything we ordered was great! - roti: great texture and flavor - garlic naan: love how it's not too overly thick or thin. Flavor was great. It was so good we ordered 2 more orders! - palak paneer: not too spicy and flavorful - palak tikka masala: also not too spicy. Super creamy and delicious! - butter chicken: I mean you can't go wrong! It was soooo good!! - basmati rice: plain and fluffy - guava spark: you can really taste the guava.

    Vegetarian thali
    Kaitlyn M.

It was very important to my partner and I to find a new Indian food spot quickly after moving. Masala House was nearby, highly rated, and had recognizable dishes we loved. We were hoping to make this our new go to spot. I got the vegetarian thali dinner. I have been spoiled with an incredible thali place for the past few years, and I was heartbroken when this one wasn't nearly on the same level. My main issue was that all of the dishes were extremely oily. For things like lentil and bean dishes, little to no oil is needed, and it was very prominent in every dish. You could see pools of oil pooling at the top, and after eating I felt heavy and weighed down from it. There was a satisfying amount of food between all of the thali dishes, which was appreciated. I also appreciated the vegetarian option for most dishes, giving me a variety of options to choose from, unlike some places where meatless options are limited. The naan bread was the star of the show here. It was cheesy, flavorful and delicious. One of the thali dishes was I believe a green lentil dish. Unsure of what it was, but that was the best dish out of them all. I'm unsure if they rotate the thali dishes, but a menu coming with the thali to explain each dish would be a wonderful idea. This way one could know which ones are personal favorites for the future. With so many delicious sounding dishes, incredible naan bread, and being nearby, I plan to return and give this place another shot one day. I'm truly hoping it was a fluke and next time won't be so oily.

Craving Indian food and found this place. Sort of hidden in a little strip mall. Plenty of parking in the adjacent lot. It's a small place and seems like a family run business. Everyone very welcoming and friendly. They have a lunch buffet for 18.99 every day. Fewer selections that some other Indian buffet spots but food was good and included things like goat curry, tikka masala, tandoori chicken and several vegetarian options. Free chai and mango lassi included! They also bring freshly made naan to the table. Great option for lunch buffet.

Lunch combo on the promo sign outside, not on the main menu. Looks excellent.

Wow, I won't be back. I've been 7-8 times. I've left previous great reviews. I was here about a month ago. The buffet was empty, they kept promising refills, most never came. But at least i got Naan, water, etc. At the table. Cleared dirty plates. And, it was 130pm, so I attributed some to the time. A guy who'd been there every visit came over, chatted, offered that I should take home some assorted Naan,(I declined.i think he's the owner ). OK, one bad visit out of 7, not bad... I'll try again. Today I arrived 12:15. I took one of very few cleared tables. Went to the Buffet. Except for dessert, some tough fry bread, and a paneer dish, every tray was empty. They kept promising refills, but nothing for 15 minutes, then like a refill every 7-8 minutes. No one brought me water - i finally went and took a bottle from the fridge. No one asked about Naan. I asked several times, finally got some as I was eating dessert. I asked if i could get it to go... was told theyd bring me foil... never did I did finally get some butter chicken. Every time I asked, I was told they were waiting on Chefs. More than half the signs on the Buffet were wrong. I watched takeout after takeout go through. Many delays, incomplete orders. I heard two pickups ask about canceling. And, now, as I'm typing this... a different woman announces that theyre catching up from a power outage. They should probably have said that each time I asked about the delays. I was actually considering leaving $5 for the pakoras and walking out at one point. I also arrived sensitive to the empty buffet issue from previous visit. First time ever, no sign of the friendly guy I saw every previous visit. A fellow diner told me they've opened a new location in Pittsburg and things have suffered in Concord.... maybe he's in Pittsburg. Edit: I wanted to update two things. 1. Thevwoman working the frontnof house was busy. It's not like she was just sitting around or playing on her phone. Maybe they need more staff. 2. The food is good. The few things I got today were good. I stand by my decision not to return for the buffet, but I might go for dinner, or if the area, get carryout. I loved this place... but 2 consecutive bad experiences, I'll just go to Saroor instead of splitting my biz between the two.

This is my favorite Indian/Nepalese restaurant! It's a perfect and affordable date night option. My partner usually orders the house curry or the paneer tikka masala. I usually order the house curry but my new favorite is the shahi paneer. The paneer soaks up all the spices and flavor and melts in your mouth. It goes really well with the mango lassi or a beer. All the naan bread is fantastic but the garlic naan is my favorite. The staff here are great about checking in with you during your meal. The owner really listens for feedback on the food they serve. I don't have kids myself, but I've seen the staff be very accommodating and kind towards children.

The buffet doesn't change much, but I tell you, we were there this afternoon, and I can't imagine a better combination of tastes than what I had: 3 each of the small fish pakoras and the fried chickpea flour ones; a portion of tasty white rice; a delicious cup of yellow dal; and a goodly portion of goat curry. We'd been there once, years ago, and couldn't really remember it much. We walked in and waited a solid 5 minutes (or more) for someone to come to the front acknowledge us, and there were others waiting as well. We assumed that they must be very busy, but they only had a few tables of customers. The atmosphere wasn't nice, but it was ok. We didn't expect fine dining vibes. There were no table cloths, and a mint green paint job which matched the color of the napkins. We ordered the "vegetarian feast" and also the butter chicken; we wanted to sample different items and probably bring home leftovers. The first thing that came out was the chai tea, which was fine. After a little wait, the samosas arrived. The samosas were delicious, and we agreed that they were the best we'd ever had. The two sauces they served with the samosas were also very tasty. Unfortunately, that was the last great thing about our experience at Sargam. The wait for the rest of the food was quite long. We weren't in a hurry, but it was definitely longer than should be acceptable at a restaurant. (All in all we were there for about 90 minutes). When the food finally came out, one of the items was missing from the vegetarian feast (the "two naris"). We didn't notice until later that we never got this item. The food's taste was average. Perhaps below average for the Indian food in the Bay Area. The chicken was not very tender but it wasn't terrible. We ordered the food "medium spicy" but there was zero spice. Also, the temperature wasn't as hot as it should be. Most of the items were almost luke warm. The nan wasn't anything special. It wasn't as tasty (or warm) as it is at most places we've been to. At the end, we were supposed to get two desserts, according to the menu's description (photo attached) of the vegetarian feast. They never came. We wrapped up our leftovers and I asked the woman (who seemed to be the manager), who had taken our order and also brought us our check, if we were going to get the desserts. She gave me a horrible look. She looked as if I had said something terrible, and acted like she had no idea what we were talking about. I explained that the dessert was on the menu as part of the "vegetarian feast". We waited about five more minutes and no dessert came out. I decided to pay and leave; we were full anyway. Sargam has "acceptable" food and ambience, long waits, and bad service with missing items. Also, they added a "service fee" of 3.5% to the check (which was not mentioned anywhere on the menu). Weird. I wanted to like it. We won't be back.
