We arrived around 8 PM and were welcomed with the same warm, energetic greeting you'd expect at opening time. Kumar, a young host, was absolutely the friendliest -- such a pleasant start to the evening. We ordered a bunch of dishes: veg fried rice (delicious), dal makhani (yum), jeera rice, a vegetable curry, garlic naan, pakodas (yum), chai, and mango lassi. But the standout was the veg chowmein -- it was bomb. It became everyone's favorite instantly and was the first dish cleared from the table. We even met one of the cooks who was super sweet. Their popular items like the chicken tikka and tandoori chicken were already running low. They maybe refilled only once while we were seated and we probably would've eaten more if they refilled more frequently. Their naan is made fresh to order and you can choose between regular, butter, or garlic. I recommend the garlic naan! Chai tea is also included but you have to ask for it. Parking is free as well. They have a small parking lot adjacent but there was ample street parking. We were instantly greeted with big smiles and a warm welcome. The staff were all so nice! Once we let the hostess know we were there for the lunch buffet, she walked us over and explained the dishes to us. The selection wasn't huge, but was a nice variety. Once we had our first plate, the server asked what kind of naan we would like. Within ten minutes or so, a basket of garlicky hot naan arrived at our table. The eggplant and paneer dishes were our favorites. They each had a nice hint of heat. The fish and goat curries also had a little hint of heat. Nothing was overly spicy. The lunch buffet was depleted and was not replenished during my time there which was upsetting since it was roughly 1.5 hours before lunch buffet was set to end. The service was minimal, really no interaction aside from being seated and given water. We had to ask for naan, had we not asked I don't know if the waitress would have mentioned it. Restaurant was a bit too quiet in my opinion, I wish they had played some music for background noise. The food itself was good but did not stand out. I think it's hard to judge accurately since I was trying to scrape up the last bit of some dishes. The goat curry was probably my favorite aside from their naan. The owner came out with a basket of fresh fluffy garlic naan and yes, you can request multiple baskets of this too. (It usually comes with 4-the picture only shows 3 because my SO swiped one before I could take the photo, haha.) The food choices change but the mango lassi has been a constant staple. (There are usually two drink options--last time there was a rose drink and this time there was a passionfruit sikhanji.) We even got freshly made (ginger cardamom?) chai! I'm not sure how I'm supposed to drink the chai I have at home anymore after having that, but I guess that just means I'll have to come back again sometime. It was very important to my partner and I to find a new Indian food spot quickly after moving. Masala House was nearby, highly rated, and had recognizable dishes we loved. We were hoping to make this our new go to spot. I got the vegetarian thali dinner. I have been spoiled with an incredible thali place for the past few years, and I was heartbroken when this one wasn't nearly on the same level. My main issue was that all of the dishes were extremely oily. For things like lentil and bean dishes, little to no oil is needed, and it was very prominent in every dish. You could see pools of oil pooling at the top, and after eating I felt heavy and weighed down from it. There was a satisfying amount of food between all of the thali dishes, which was appreciated. I also appreciated the vegetarian option for most dishes, giving me a variety of options to choose from, unlike some places where meatless options are limited. The naan bread was the star of the show here. It was cheesy, flavorful and delicious. One of the thali dishes was I believe a green lentil dish. Unsure of what it was, but that was the best dish out of them all. I'm unsure if they rotate the thali dishes, but a menu coming with the thali to explain each dish would be a wonderful idea. This way one could know which ones are personal favorites for the future. With so many delicious sounding dishes, incredible naan bread, and being nearby, I plan to return and give this place another shot one day. Wow, I won't be back. I've been 7-8 times. I've left previous great reviews. I was here about a month ago. The buffet was empty, they kept promising refills, most never came. They kept promising refills, but nothing for 15 minutes, then like a refill every 7-8 minutes. No one brought me water - i finally went and took a bottle from the fridge. No one asked about Naan. I asked several times, finally got some as I was eating dessert. I asked if i could get it to go... was told theyd bring me foil... never did I did finally get some butter chicken. Every time I asked, I was told they were waiting on Chefs. More than half the signs on the Buffet were wrong. I watched takeout after takeout go through. Many delays, incomplete orders. I heard two pickups ask about canceling. And, now, as I'm typing this... a different woman announces that theyre catching up from a power outage. They should probably have said that each time I asked about the delays. I was actually considering leaving $5 for the pakoras and walking out at one point. I also arrived sensitive to the empty buffet issue from previous visit. First time ever, no sign of the friendly guy I saw every previous visit. A fellow diner told me they've opened a new location in Pittsburg and things have suffered in Concord.... maybe he's in Pittsburg. Edit: I wanted to update two things. 1. Thevwoman working the frontnof house was busy. It's not like she was just sitting around or playing on her phone. Maybe they need more staff. 2. The food is good. The few things I got today were good. I stand by my decision not to return for the buffet, but I might go for dinner, or if the area, get carryout. This is my favorite Indian/Nepalese restaurant! It's a perfect and affordable date night option. My partner usually orders the house curry or the paneer tikka masala. I usually order the house curry but my new favorite is the shahi paneer. The paneer soaks up all the spices and flavor and melts in your mouth. It goes really well with the mango lassi or a beer. All the naan bread is fantastic but the garlic naan is my favorite. The staff here are great about checking in with you during your meal. The owner really listens for feedback on the food they serve. I don't have kids myself, but I've seen the staff be very accommodating and kind towards children. read more

My favorite was the vegetable biryani, chicken tikka masala, and chicken pakora. They also brought us a fresh basket of butter naan which went really well with the chicken tikka masala. The chicken tikka masala was very thick, creamy, and savory with a prominent tomato flavor. And the chicken chunks in the sauce were really tender. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Beverages: And don't sleep on the drinks. They offered pineapple lemonade, which was really nice and refreshing, and mango lassi, which was so indulgently creamy with a yogurt note. Service: I also would like to highlight how wonderful and great the service was. The staff behind the register (maybe the owner?) was super friendly. His service was above and beyond. Tried this place for the first time via DoorDash delivery and was impressed with the generous amount of food that came with the lunch combo! I ordered the Butter Chicken Lunch Combo, which I highly recommend - it comes with steamed rice, butter naan, butter chicken, and 2 veggie sides. They even included a free dessert with my order that wasn't mentioned in the item description - delicious rice pudding! The portion was large; I had more than enough food for my meal and had 1/3 left over after I was full. Everything was tasty and flavorful! My favorite was the naan, which I of course dipped in the butter chicken sauce. For the spice averse, I ordered it mild and it still had a slight kick that added nicely to the flavor. We actually did a side-by-side taste test today of another Restaurant's garlic naana and this restaurant's are much better, softer fluffier! Good job! The qorma with scallops was very watered down and not spicy enough and the daal was a bit too ghora, but we will try again. I look forward to trying more dishes from here that are vegan especially . My first time at this restaurant and it was outstanding. I was only stopping by to order some take out but the service was still phenomenal! One of the employees came out and talked me through the menu and told me all his favorites. They have a variety of spice levels for each dish so that you can customize your order to your liking. It seemed like such a family restaurant; there was a large group dining in when I entered and the staff was very friendly with them as well. Came here for the Lunch Buffet on a Sunday. Service was impeccable.The host/owner was super friendly and was engaging with the customers at each table getting their thoughts and talking to them. Servers were attentative and helped clear plates on table quick as well. And if you had any questions about the food and etc, they will answer you happily which is definetely and always awesome to see. When I asked about the mango lassi, the owner was very kind enough to let me know that if you want the mango lassi to be more sweet and etc, they can do that to your liking! But the drink itself is great without any modification. Although the restaurant was small, it did fit everyone from a party of 1 to a party of 4-5. Space is plentiful for walking around and getting stuff at the buffet station. Natural sunlight and inside lights are bright around the restaurant. Food is really good. Each station had its own spoon/tongs so there's no crossover and etc. Anything that was low at the station was filled as fast as they they can at the station and the naan bread comes to you hot! They had different types of naan bread you can get but garlic naan was the best. I especially loved the Chicken Tikka Masala. Pairing the sauce + Garlic Naan, oh my, it is great! I wanted to eat more but did not have enough space after trying other food which were also good. The Lamb Vindaloo is very good. The spices hits you but its more of a slow burn that coats your mouth. Potatoes were cooked well and was soft which goes well when mashed and mixed with the spicy sauce. The lamb meat is good and there were big chunks to get from the station. This pairs well with Mango Lassi drink to quell the spices coating your mouth. Their Tandoori Chicken is juicy and cooked very well. I loved their drumstick ones - who doesn't like the drumstick pieces haha. The pakoras were good fried one-biters. The veggie pakora is okay but I do wish the batter was a bit thinner whereas the chicken pakora is good and had some nice spices and was able to taste more of the meat/spices than batter! I didn't get to try it, but my boyfriend seemed to like it. He ended up finishing the whole tray. * Masala House special chai -- Came hot, so be careful! It was smooth, milky, slightly spicy, and so flavorful. To me, it was the best cup of chai I've had. Service: We were greeted right when we entered the restaurant. I think the gentleman who greeted us was the owner. He was so friendly all throughout our time in the restaurant and even gave us suggestions for the street food menu. I really appreciated feeling welcomed and well taken care of. The gentleman even offered to pack my leftover food for me. That was cool and I had never been offered that before in a restaurant. Ambiance: Classy and clean interior with what sounded like Indian music playing in the back. Not too fancy though to the point where I felt out of place wearing shorts, shirt, and sneakers. If you're not able to get a parking spot that close to the restaurant, there are plenty more parking options around downtown that are still walking distance to the restaurant. The major difference between the two places is that Masala House has a slightly smaller selection (but still good), but it has drinks included with the buffet so is an excellent value. Masala House has a smaller selection of items, but they taste very good. They had about 8 main dishes, two bread, and two dessert. The meat dishes were: Chicken curry, goat curry, and fish. Unfortunately there is no butter chicken or chicken tikka masala at the buffet. They had a paneer dish which I think was in tikka masala sauce? It was decent, slightly more on the tomato side than the creamy side. Would have loved to see butter chicken, as that seems to be always be a crowd favorite. They also had yellow dal, kidney beans, veggie pakora. The food wasn't too spicy, a couple dishes had a slight kick to them. My favorite dish was the goat curry- the meat was very tender. A pleasant surprise was that the buffet includes self serve mango lassi and pineapple lemonade. The drinks were really good, the mango lassi seems to be less sour/yogurt and more sweet, while the lemonade was less sweet, so they balanced each other out. Places usually charge about $4 for mango lassi, so having it included (and all you can drink) makes this buffet much better value-wise if you were going to order drinks anyways. Service was excellent, very welcoming. I went on a Tuesday when the Farmers Market was going on, and there was still plenty of parking. This place sadly didn't live up to the hype. I came in because I had an Indian food craving, and it wasn't great. The tandoori chicken looked a bit undercooked, including pink at the bone. The goat curry was pretty good, but I wish the chicken was better. The dal maknhi and lentils were both really good, and I enjoyed that spice, but I wish there was consistency. Also, if cleanliness is your thing, then this place isn't for you. I went to the bathroom before I started eating to wash my hands, but there was no soap or toilet seat covers. I told the employees about it, but nothing was done about either. Service was really slow as well. Including myself, there were three other groups when I came in, and when I entered the restaurant, the hostess asked if I wanted naan. I asked for garlic naan, but it was really slow coming out.
