Overall I thought the food was great in taste however a few observations that has me thinking it's not worth me going back. Fish taco ingredients - wonderful in taste. Disappointing it had one small piece of fish that tasted dry. The Fish was about 2 inches in length, perhaps that's why it tasted dry inside. It was served with 1 tortilla, my thought is if you're going to only serve 1 tortilla due to a cost factor, it shouldn't come out being served soggy. It would have been nice to get a larger (normal size) portion of fish. I read an understaffed review from someone from a few months back, from my perspective I also noticed something similar. I saw a young man work hard cleaning tables, take orders and put dirty dishes away, while myself and other customers had long wait times to get our food. By the time your food is given to you, it's luke warm. I am not one to give reviews, so hopefully some positive changes are implemented so this place can thrive, but for now, it's overpriced for the overall experience. read more

I have eaten here once before a year ago with co-workers and decided to give this place another try. Since moving to this area, I've already established my "go-to" spot for getting my taco fix on, but of course, the day I was craving for taco's on a Sunday and my go-to spot is closed. Boo. At any rate, I ordered online around 1:30PM and by the time I arrived, there were still quite a bit of cars parked in the area (still managed to park my car without any issue.) Walking inside, I observed a lot of people enjoying their meals - there were maybe only 2-3 tables available for seating. I was able to walk up and request for my online order but it was not ready. I did however appreciate the worker who assisted me and placed my order next in line. Kudos! I ordered the Carne Asada Taco, Quesabirria Taco, and Fried Shrimp Taco. When I received my order, I also received one of every type of sauce I believe they offered (green/red/orange). As for the food: Quesabirria Taco: 3/5 - The bone broth consomme wasn't as flavorful as I anticipated, and the flavors in general were sort of bland to me. I also want to point out that the orange sauce didn't help much either with the flavor. Apparently the orange sauce is just extremely spicy and not that flavorful. Carne Asada Taco: 4/5 - It was good, nothing amazing but the portion of meat was plentiful. Fried Shrimp Taco: 5/5 - Absolutely loved this! There were only two large shrimp but all the ingredients complimented each other perfectly! This alone will get me to come back. I've been here when it first opened and nothing special stood out but my husband loves the Surf & Turf burrito. He'll usually be on his way home and grab one for the both of is. It's pretty good but as of lately I have noticed that it's a bit watery and they've started to cut it in half without a request for that. I'd say this type of burrito should probably stay wrapped and if they plan on keeping it saucy wrapping it in foil might be ever better. It's a good but can definitely be a messy burrito. Come hungry because these tacos are HUGE! Masa Masa is definitely not your ordinary taco spot. They do fun fusion tacos, and they do NOT skimp on the fillings! My favorites are the fried shrimp and fried fish tacos. The shrimp taco comes with TWO big, plump fried shrimp topped with an elote style corn salad. Soooo good! They also have Korean tacos, hot chicken tacos, and a chicharron taco with crispy pork belly. WARNING: There is absolutely NO cute or graceful way to eat these tacos. They are stuffed! You just have to open wide, take a bite, and accept that toppings will be falling everywhere. Dignity is optional. They are a little pricey, but honestly... what isn't these days?! The portions are big, the flavors are fun, and the people working there are always super sweet. This was our first experience at Masa Masa. Highly recommended by our friends that live local. They warned us ahead of time that they are huge and enough to split or for two meals. My husband and I settled on the same burrito, surf and turf, so we decided to split it. They don't offer a lot of burrito options, but you can customize your order. Our friend had the surf and turf and took out the carne asada and added more shrimp. They didn't cost to sub out the carne asada for shrimp, Details: Surf & Turf Burrito - 18.00 Flour tortilla filled with house marinated carne asada, shrimp, cilantro rice, pico de gallo, queso blanco, monterey jack, avocado salsa, and chipotle aioli It was so tasty and we didn't need the extra salsas they gave us. We got a red, green, and a salmon colored one. The red one was medium. The salsa was free, but orders do not come with complimentary chips. A star less for that. All Mexican restaurants should come with complimentary chips and a salsa bar. We ordered on line through Yelp and picked up in store through DoorDash, we did that as that's how they offer to do your ordering online through Yelp. There wasn't an option to order directly through the restaurant that I saw. I might have missed it I didn't realize that it's $5.40 more per burrito to order online. Oops!!! On the menu it's $18 and online it's $23.40 each. I'm never doing that again. I've never used door dash before and I won't be using them again. Total with tax our order of two burritos was $50.43. Expensive it was good, but not gold plated good. It took around 20 minutes for our order to be ready for pick up. In the end I highly recommend Masa Masa surf and turf burrito. If you go at off hours like a 4pm dinner on a weekend, you'll probably get a table like we did though. The restaurant was cute inside--small, but with some seating--and the employees were friendly and provided good service. You order at the front, give them your phone number, and receive a text when your food is ready, which was convenient. The loaded quesadilla was good, although it didn't completely wow me. I enjoyed the nachos more, but I wish the toppings and queso had been distributed more evenly throughout the layers because the chips toward the bottom didn't have much on them. My husband got their fried fish taco which he loved and the birria had a nice cheese taste and paired perfectly with the consumme. I got the cauliflower taco and it was delicious, slight sweetness and pairs well with their sour cream creama. The Al pastor nachos and spicy elote are my favorites. You can also for the elote to be split in half and it is seasoned perfectly and the corn has a nice char on the outside. The Al pastor nachos are huge and easily can be shared with two people. I love how they have vinegar onions on there and their al pastor comes with pineapple pieces. I love pairing this with their green and habanero salsas and for a pro tip: you can dip their nachos in your leftover birria consumme if you order their taco For dessert we got their churro ice cream for the first time and asked for the caramel and ube sauces on the side. Before I mentioned the food, what I really enjoy about this place is the team that works there. Their very friendly and have great customer service. Anytime I go there for lunch they greet me with a smile and I feel very welcomed! I go there pretty often during my lunch, which is about 2 times a week or maybe 3. The menu also has a good variety but not too overwhelming. Prices for tacos is about $5.25 each unless you get the seafood ones which is about what you pay at most places for a taco. We each ordered 2 birria tacos, one carnitas and one grilled shrimp with nachos with Carne Asada to share. There is no complimentary chips n salsa. It is considered a side. Wait time was less than 15 minutes. They brought out the nachos first. It was half the size I expected for $14.00. The tacos were also super small... street taco size. First bite was okay but as we continued to eat, we couldn't stop! It just kept getting better and better. It was really really tasty. I kept saying Mmnnn which is a good sign. My taste buds don't say that a lot. Most of my reviews usually say yeah it was good but not memorable and I am not in a hurry to return. This was memorable. We kept talking about how good it was on the way home and looked forward to coming back. It is different. Its not a taqueria or even Mexican food per se. Ingredients were fresh and all of it was so full of unique flavors. I went to their website and read more about them. The owners were there serving and greeting customers. The taco variety is super impressive and all are delicious. Keep in mind, the tacos are small so you will likely want to order several. The lobster taco is tasty but small so I do not think it's worth the price. My favorite is the garlic shrimp taco although the tofu pineapple taco was a close second favorite. The fish taco is quite tasty as well. Elote is good but I want to try the spicy elote next time. The surf and turf burrito is delicious. Add the green salsa and it's phenomenal. The house IPA and blood orange sangria were citrus forward and tasty. The churro donut is the show stopper! Service is phenomenal. All I am going to say is super 5 stars from service to food!!!! Their employees were super friendly and welcoming and to talk about their tacos *chef kiss*! We got to try carne asada, birria and fish tacos. All fantastic but we loved the birria tacos and it's consomé then fish tacos. The birria tacos was just packed with meat in a crunchy corn tortilla, creamy avocado sauce, super savory and with its salsa .. it was soo good. Definitely top 3 birria tacos I ever had so far. Fish taco- amazing presentation, full of veggies, super crunchy fresh deep fried fish, with a little squeeze of lemon ..just heaven! The carne asada taco was good but the other 2 overshadow it. Still good tho but again the other 2 was just way better. One thing that surprise me was their employees.. super friendly and welcoming! He even offered me to try their blackberry sangria. .. best sangria I ever had. Small place in the fast growing west Roseville area. Tried the sweet pork belly taco and wow just wow it was bursting with flavor. Wasn't sure I would like the veggies in it but the crunchy pickled flavors were just perfect. Also had the fish taco and birria and both were good but could not compete with the pork belly. For dessert I had to try the ube churro and ice cream. The ube taste wise didn't do anything for me but sure did make the dish look pretty. Overall dessert is worth getting to top off a great meal. I got food poisoning there and contacted a manager. They really didn't seem to be too concerned and never got back to me to let me know what they had done so it wouldn't happen to somebody else. And they never offered to refund my money for the meal that made me sick. read more

The way to convince a friend to go with you to a restaurant, tell them they have a Sangria flight. Yasss! The outdside is nothing crazy but those hand chairs for outdoor seating. The hands hold you while you grub! The employee making fresh tortillas and the smells will draw you in. We both got Sangria flights. I got the 2 veggie taco options/spicy elote and my friend got 3 tacos. Yay for vegan options! The Sangria flight was just too much for me. The sweetness was intense.
