Steve Knght was pleasant to work with at first, but then became very rude, unhelpful, and not honest about costs as time went on. I lived out of town and when his quote for counters came at a significantly larger cost then he originally quoted, would not help me find a suitable replacement for a rental and only guided me to places with no pictures to use. He then CHOSE the counters without my approval and was dishonest about the cost to put them in, asking me for an additional $6k months later that somehow "wasn't on the invoice". From speaking with others in Santa Barbara this is a typical experience. If you choose him, account for 150% or so of the price he quoted you initially. My tenant is also a handyman and was inspecting his crews work. He said he had to be on top of them to mount the cabinets correctly, and somehow storage space and cabinets just disappeared. If he hadn't been onsite I think it would have been very poorly constructed.

The cabinetry and countertops are are stunning. They installed barn doors for space efficiency in a small unit. Elite installed new sliding glass doors and a beautiful new front door. They overhauled a dingy laundry cabinet to make it look like it was newly constructed. In doing so they identified an electrical issue that was not to code and they rectified it. They installed new flooring and lighting throughout the unit. They also identified an issue with the water heater and recommended a replacement. As with most construction, there were delays and set backs however overall the job was well done and the remodel was completed to my satisfaction.

We had such a good experience that we hired them to do our guest bathroom. We are so pleased with the results. The design is stunning and it is just what we wanted. We will be hiring them again!

They were a really easy team to work with and we found all of their craftsmen to be some of the best we've ever worked with. (This is our 3rd house remodel). We selected Hahka after site visits from 4 contractors - they weren't the lowest bid, but we felt most confident with them & their design. Some of the photos are on their website. As an extra bonus, John is a general contractor and we ended up hiring him to paint the interior/exterior of our home and do some electrical work. There were a few setbacks with painting and electrical, however, it happens with a big project as a lot of different workers and trades are involved, but John would always own up to his or other people's mistake and make it right. In the end, the house looks down right amazing! I'm so glad we found Goodland floors!

Reliable and Honest We are very satisfied with Ranch Hands…read moreConstruction quality of work. They began by repairing termite rot and damage to our 1909 craftsman home in Santa Barbara. The deck fascia, supporting beams and headers, all needed to be repaired or replaced. After several bids from various general contractors, Jean-Claude with RHC gave the most thorough and comprehensive bid. He took the time to explain and break down the process of each scope of work. The 5 scopes of work were then priced separately allowing us to decide according to our budget and needs. Although not the cheapest bid, it was worth getting the job done right. The Ranch Hands Construction crew were competent, prompt, hard working and respectful. Obviously RHC take pride in their work, going the extra mile and paying attention to details. It was refreshing to see camaraderie and teamwork amongst their coworkers. After their initial work, we hired Ranch Hands to reroof a backyard cottage, and rebuild the railings on our front deck. Again, we were very impressed with RHC work. The jobs were all within the original estimate, and the work was completed in a timely manner. We would definitely recommend RCH for most any construction job. It's difficult to find honesty, reliability and quality work. Thank you for the help.

TL;DR 6 weeks, multiple visits, and then abandoned on a bid for our project…read more We requested a quote from Eagle Pride Constructions on our kitchen remodel project. The team was initially quick to respond and came out to review the scope of our project and asked good questions to understand our goals and scope of the work. They appeared to have good ideas and options to get creative with solutions for what we wanted to achieve with the project. After the first meeting we didn't hear back on a quote, and after following up they said they needed more details to prepare a proper quote so we scheduled more time. They missed the second appointment so we rescheduled and got them back through for a second look. After walking them through the project scope again and answering some new follow up questions we were optimistic we'd be able to move to the next phase. We weren't hearing back from them so after a couple weeks, we followed up with their office and they let us know that they're still working on a quote and would have it by end of day. One week later still no quote. Finally I got a call from Eagle pride telling me that they've decided they don't wanna work on our project citing that they aren't able to get one of their subcontractors available to quote a key part of the project. Throughout the process, we've been flexible on timelines, patient throughout the missed appointments and poor communication. We understand that contractors are busy and they can't always bid on a project, but it would have been nice to know that before waiting 6 weeks. We can't speak to the quality of the work that Eagle pride does, but l see these missed appointments, the slow communication, and abandoning the project entirely after dragging us along as red flags. I hope others have an easier time working with them, but felt compelled to share my experience.

They did admit it was a disastrous attempt and agreed to try again (after I spoke to the boss, who did not apologize but agreed to no extra charge). Then they tried again, running the hoses through the crawl space. They added miles of hose from the kitchen sink instead of just tapping into a water pipe nearby - unnecessary - and ended up drilling a hole in the floor to bring the pipe up next to the refrigerator instead of behind it, so it is visible. However at that point I had had enough so just let it go. BUT I recently went under the crawl space and saw that they installed the hose right next to (almost touching) exposed electric wires (old style nob and tube) - creating a dangerous situation which I will now have to replace. I tried to get in touch to discuss the issue but they have ignored my class. Not impressed.
