That is approaching what you can get hotels for through the Safe Stay program at D-H. We chose to stay at Maynard House, so you know, we take the chaff with the grain. We drove up in a blinding snowstorm after driving 2+ hours. Then I remembered that they will only take cash. So back on the road to find an ATM. We found lots of banks, but no ATMs until *violins playing* I saw an Irving. I got the necessary cash and returned. Meantime, the person at MH called and asked if we had pulled into the driveway. We got back to MH, then I realized that checking in would take a while. We learned how to open a door. We learned we had to park away from all of the other cars in the lot because the plow guy would be there early. He wasn't there before 8:30 am. We learned that we could not eat in the rooms or the kitchen, but wait, yes we could since COVID shut the public areas. We also learned not to ask questions, not to crack jokes and not to think for ourselves. I do appreciate that the facility was available for us, but it would have been nice to have gotten a little update on where extra blankets and pillows were. We wound up opening the windows as the heat was blasting. I used my ancient college secret of putting sodas on the sill to cool them down. Luckily we don't get caught.

A BASEMENT IS NOT THE FIRST FLOOR!! I kept jamming my foot on this plastic piece under the leg of the bed. When I asked the manager, Ann? She casually said "oh those are bed bug cups, & she added that's the way of the world!" ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? The heat did not work only partly, and if there had been a fire? I could not of gotten out! I do not believe their very steep stairs are even up to code!!!! AND I CANNOT CLIMB STAIRS!!!! IN front of each bedroom door? They built up wooden blocks so the door might keep a draft out??? IT LOOKED LIKE A THREE YESR OLD TRIED TO BUILD BLOCKS AND DADDY HELPED WITH THE NAILING OF THAT MESS!! YOU COULD NOT KEEP YOUR BELONGINGS SAFE BECAUSE THE DOORS DID NOT LOCK IF YOU LEFT!!!!!I have to continue to heal from my surgery, BUT I AM NOT DONE RINGING THE ALARM. I called the police to ask, were me and my friend in a homeless shelter?? A drug recovery house. We were both afraid to fall asleep. It was simply GROSS! They mislead people. The setting is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views in every direction. While it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere, quick day trips to Dartmouth and to the King Arthur flour mega store were easily accomplished. Not that you'd have to go anywhere! Just time to walk the woods around the house and then come "home" and sit on Adirondack chairs overlooking the Connecticut River would be fine. John and Donna Anderson and gracious and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. I particularly liked being given two different options each morning - Daughter could order one, me the other and then let the sampling begin! Everything we ate was obviously made with the freshest of ingredients and prepared with loving attention. Our room was spacious and pleasant with a relaxing view out to the wooded acreage. While I know from the breakfast crowd that there were other people staying in the inn at the same time as my visit, the rooms were very quiet and private. I would love to return to this bed and breakfast if I am ever in that part of the country again.

Kids running uncontrolled in and out. A couple of people had dogs and they were off leash outside. It simply wasn't what we had in mind for a B&B. Masks were enforced and we complied. Our Room was clean but my husband called it a "bed in the bathroom" because the sink and shower were exposed - no doors - one on the left and the other on the right with a bed in middle. Only the toilet was behind a door - whew! Oh, and the floor is painted concrete (with lots of repainting needed) with just a small area rug. Towels were a bit rough and toiletries left a bit to be desired. We wanted a nice cross breeze (being a corner bedroom) but only one window had a screen in it so we opened it. The TV had zero reception and per the host, was only there for viewing DVDs. They did provide a selection of DVDs and we watched 2 movies without difficulty. I think they should upgrade the TVs or advertise no TV. Internet was fine. The grounds are beautiful being on the CT River. We walked the neighborhood. It was lovely. The host (no hostess) was pleasant. However, given all of the above, likely we will not return to this B&B.

First, they picked us all up at the Dartmouth bus stop. Delivered us to our car, sent us on our way quickly and oh yea, drop off? Oh just park it at the bus stop - we'll get it later. Brilliance. During our purchase of a new Toyota Tundra (Stock #T30435), we were charged $1,599.00 out of pocket for a "Zurich Shield" environmental and undercoating package, along with a $3,040.00 Platinum extended service contract (VSA) and a $1,700.00 prepaid maintenance contract. Because of the high costs, we explicitly asked both our salesperson, Sheldon Snavely, and the finance officer, Zack Roberts, if the undercoating protection plan was handled by an outside company and if the price could be adjusted. Both individuals stated directly to us that it was an independent third-party product, that it was not their company, and that they had no control over lowering the price. However, our final paperwork revealed a completely different story. The internal service routing invoice explicitly lists the undercoating work under "WR RECON" (White River Recon)--which is the dealership's own internal reconditioning department--carrying a standard internal "No Charge" cost code. The staff coordinated to tell us a direct untruth about who was performing the work simply to protect a massive in-house profit margin. Furthermore, we explicitly stated during the transaction that we were prepared to pay for the vehicle outright. We were told by staff that we had to finance the vehicle, under the claim that if we did not make at least three months of financing payments, our vehicle title "would get lost in transit." This is a completely fabricated scare tactic. In reality, dealerships receive a backend commission kickback from the lender that gets revoked if the loan is paid off in full during the first 90 days. Telling customers their legal title could be lost to protect a dealer commission is entirely unacceptable. What you need to know about their warranty and maintenance pricing before you buy: You do NOT have to buy your official Toyota warranties or maintenance plans from the selling dealership. You can purchase the exact same factory-backed policies from out-of-state volume Toyota dealers online at any point before your factory 3-year/36,000-mile warranty expires. The price differences on our paperwork are staggering: - Toyota Platinum VSA Extended Warranty: White River Toyota charged us $3,040.00. You can purchase the exact same official factory Platinum VSA plan from a volume dealer for $1,800.00 or less ($1,240 markup). - Prepaid Maintenance Contract: White River Toyota charged us $1,700.00. A volume dealer sells the official factory maintenance extension plan for roughly $550.00 ($1,150 markup). Advice to future shoppers at this dealership: Do not take verbal assurances at face value in the finance office. You have the absolute right to pay cash outright without financing, and you have the right to refuse heavily marked-up, dealer-performed add-on packages. Demand to see all itemized line items on physical paper before signing anything, and buy your warranty products elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. Also, look up David Machavern and Dillon Machavern for yourself and you will see they own the dealership and the undercoating company.

It was hard to block out light and get a dark room for sleep. There was no water provided in the room. We travel frequently and stay in nice hotels....our experience here was not what we would expect from a "5 star" property.
