Staff flocking to one specific customer - maybe the owner? Ignoring everyone else

Worst food and service I've had anywhere in a very long time. I'm not the complaining type but this was bad enough that I feel it's worth taking the time to warn anyone else planning on going here. Watery Queso - fajita beef was 100% gristle and fat - tortillas were definitely old/crumbly/gross Servers never checked in, Had to call them over to refill chips/drinks/deliver the Queso we ordered from where they were all hanging out together behind the bar. Was so bad it was a super strange experience Some guy came in after us - maybe the owner??? Anyway the staff flocked to take care of him, pic attached They had to walk past our table with empty chips, empty drinks to get to him. If I had to say something nice I guess..... it's clean inside???

Service was fast and friendly. Food was great Tex Mex! Margaritas were a little too sweet but some like it that way.

The friendly ladies behind the counter of this tiny food stand made us feel welcome. The prices…read morewere fair and the portions were generous (large, meaty, filling tacos for $2.50 to $3 each). We tried a variety of tacos, including breakfast tacos and we experienced tlacoyos for the first time (similar to gorditas). Outdoor seating only, in a rustic, rural environment, including a rooster roaming around between the umbrellaed picnic tables. The food is more typical of a ranch house family meal than of restaurant-style Tex-Mex. For example, they don't whisk their eggs before they scramble them. They just crack them directly into the skillet and kind of mix it together slightly with the spatula as they cook. They had both red and green salsa available, but both were very mild, and thin enough for a squeeze bottle. We didn't notice any chips, salsa bowls, guacamole, jalapeños or lime wedges. And none of the flavors were amped up. It just all came across as the typical home cooking they'd been raised on. But that has its own charm. And the tortillas (flour or white corn) all seemed homemade They have sodas, horchata and aguas frescas (no beer), or coffee (instant, I believe). But don't plan to stay too long or drink too much coffee, as there is no public restroom here.

Great spot! We are patient I promise... 30 minutes we are going to have to say goodbye to a star. Mose tacos truck styled spots are much faster. Well we just had to lose another star.. not sure how this place works but just had two family's that got here after us got their food prior to us. While two gentlemen prior to us have still not got there food - may leave it like this since we may never know if those two guys get their food.

Finally, today was the day and I sure wish I would have tried this place sooner. Since moving to Texas from Southern Cal, I haven't found many places that have what I would call authentic tacos. I keep trying hoping to find that place and I just might have. They are located in a small food truck court off 71. Easy parking and they have plenty of outdoor seating if you want to enjoy your tacos fresh. I only ordered "street tacos" with Adobada; I didn't have to wait long and I did take them to-go since I don't live very far. When I got home, they were still fresh and warm. They were prepared in fresh corn tortillas (they do also offer flour) and there is quite a bit of meat. They came with lime wedges and some red & green sauce. Given my experience with other taco locations, I wasn't expecting much. But my first bite... I was surprised at how delicious they are. Most places I have been to, the meat tastes as though it has been warming in a metal bin for awhile and lacks freshness. But this meat was very fresh and delicious. Squeeze a little lime and add some of the green sauce and these tacos are epic! I ordered three and thought for sure I would end up throwing one or two of them out. But after eating two of them, I saved the third for my daughter but was tempted to eat it too. If the tacos are this good... I am sure the rest of the food must be great. I have had tacos from a few places in downtown Austin that are good, but it's a far drive to get them regularly. It's nice to know the best tacos I have tried since coming to Texas is quite close to me. And between the tacos I have had in Austin and Ortega's, I would choose Ortega's any day. Although they provided red sauce, if you like really spicy... use the green sauce. Like finding good tacos, it has been difficult to find good spicy taco sauce but their green sauce is going to make you sweat a little. Although I waited years to try, I'm glad I finally tried Ortega's and I will be back soon.
